Poppies in a Spin 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

I started drawing some poppy designs, then got distracted by some spinoff!

I saw some blocks with spinning designs, and I thought why not spin the poppies.

I have decided to share the designs as it is at least ten years since I started playing with poppies, about the time our first spin dryer stopped working, and since then it has been heard keeping up with what’s new on the market for spin dryers, as we have bought about five of them. Sometime I may even try to untangle the spinning stems to make them workable designs.

Poppy Pod Lane from Nestlings By Robin

I have a love of poppy flowers and 
have designed some larger quilts 
that the magazines maybe find
overwhelming...?

So I designed a smaller piece and
picked it up:)  YAY!
Their magazine is so full of beauty.

I started previewing my fabrics
to see how they would look
as quarter-square triangles.

Once the top was finished,
it was time to work on the 
embroidery for the 
applique' section.

Once all my applique'
was fused in place,
on to basting....

Yes, I pin baste 
small projects for 
machine quilting.

My quilting was straight
stitching along the diagonal line ...

Monday Morning Garden Stroll 06.29 from Appalachian Quilts

Last week was the anniversary of my paternal father's suicide.  It also would have been my step-dad's birthday.  It's always a tough week for me and especially my Momma.  When Pops was alive, I would always have to plan his birthday party as Momma just wasn't feeling it.  I never minded.  I'm usually pretty withdrawn, not in sadness but I get wrapped up in memories.  I was blessed to have a step-dad who loved me as much as, if not more than, any paternal father could  Today I again reflected on how happy he would ...
