Blue times two from The Academic Quilter

Hello everyone, and happy St. Patrick's Day! Is there green beer in your near future? I can't stand the stuff, but it's my brother's birthday, and he's always loved it. When he was a kid, he thought everyone celebrated his birthday with a fun party. I guess that's a reasonable conclusion. This year, though, I'm feeling a little under the weather so I'll just wave to all you revelers from over here on the sofa.

I have nothing green to show today, but I did finish a couple of fun blue things ...

Icy and blue and holidays too from The Academic Quilter

Hello all, and welcome to a very windy and wintry day! I know that a bunch of you are experiencing the same things, including in places where it's not usually so cold. Kind of bracing, isn't it? We had rain but not snow, then the front came through with blue skies and cold temps. It looks lovely, but it is quite chilly!

UPDATE: Posting from Panera! Yesterday, just as I was about to publish this post, we lost power. It's still out and is now 43 degrees in our house! Expected to be back on tomorrow by ...

Cooking on a few burners from Art In Search

Lots going on in the making department. One of the many quilt tops QuiltDiva Julie has sent me went out the door this week to a family member dealing with breast cancer. I was able to quilt the plaid HST quilt, put the quilt package together (tote bag, quilt, card, music CD, pocket quilts and book- 50 days of Hope), and deliver it out of town.

All fluffed and washed

Quilted

Bag
I was also able to complete 2 more Stained Glass mosaic butterflies and grout them. They went out yesterday to 2 recipients.

Ungrouted

Grouted
     In a bag, I ...

Pure Plaid Sunshine from Art In Search

This quilt is pure sunshine on a dark winter day. It was made by Quiltdiva Julie and gifted to the comfort quilt work I do (Quilts4Comfort). I showed it earlier, but it is now completed and is just a happy, happy quilt. I hope I get a referral for it soon.
I am calling is Plaid Spring Sunshine.
Quilted free-motion with Glide Celery on top and DecoBob Dove Gray in the bobbin. Plaid scrappy binding.

Comfort Quilt Seeds from Art In Search

Wow, I received 2 quilts in the mail from Quiltdiva Julie to use for comfort quilts. The first was the Plaid HSTs. I knew I wanted to make it bigger to be a better comfort size. When I buy fabric I think I may want to use for borders, I buy a half yard. Not a good plan. If I need it wider, it is not enough. Note to self- buy a yard or more, it will get used.

As done by Julie

I found the perfect light green with white dots design, but only had enough for a finished ...

Lumber Jack & Jill from Sew Fresh Quilts

I'm a lumberjack and I’m ok....

This quilt makes me very very very happy.

Those silly faces look so fabulous.

The plaid shirts with pockets turned out so realistic!

And those crazy toques!!!

Quilted using a black/grey/white variegated thread on top and in the bobbin in organic wavy lines using my walking foot on my domestic sewing machine.

The binding is this handsome grey text print and I added a couple strips to add interest to a side joint.

The backing is the remainder of the wide backing flannel used in Lumber Jills’ shirts.

I can ...

Oh, THAT Old Thing?! from Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

Perhaps the first quilt top of 2020?

I thought I had this top nailed down.

I mean, I had it sashed and everything – but it was “barely” couch sized.  What good would that do for anything?  My sons are 6’ 3’’ and 6’ 4’’ respectively, and The Hubster is also 6’ 3’’. A wall hanging or table topper can be fairly small and still serve a purpose.  But a quilt that is too small to cover a person, but too big to hang on the wall – what’s the point?

I had planned to add another row in width, and ...
