Project QUILTING 14.1: The First One from Goer

The first Project QUILTING challenge of season 14 is The First One.

I am a habitual overthinker. I have a list of things I'd like to work into my PQ challenges this season and none of them were the "perfect" fit for this challenge. So the options to meet The First One theme seemed infinite. I brainstormed some ideas and considerations with my daughter:

  • my first quilt
  • my first blog post
  • my first IG post
  • red, the first color in a rainbow
  • the letter A
  • the number 1
  • the first PQ challenge I participated in, PQ 8.1
  • fabrics ...

Mug Rug Sewing Tutorial from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

IMG_1635-Modified copy

Ah, I can already smell the cinnamon spice in the air! It’s time to snuggle up in your favorite quilt and grab a hot cup of tea, and enjoy a nice Netflix holiday movie! This is my favorite time of year to sew (who isn’t, right?) to sew several small projects in order to make plenty for myself and my loved ones. I’ve noticed that mug rugs are all over the internet and I can totally see why because it checks all the boxes of what I’m looking forward to sewing!

If you have never heard ...

finally caught up . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

What a weekend! Friday afternoon we headed out to make things ready for the 5th annual Pastor & Wife Appreciation banquet and retreat. We had about 36 pastors and their wives.  It was a great evening with fabulous food, worship and fellowship—not to mention a terrific speaker who spoke great words of encouragement.  We had about nine couples who were able to spend the night.  There was a fabulous breakfast that morning, and then we broke out into groups, for some more encouragement.  I think it was a success!

But I was itching to get home, because I knew what ...

Virtual Vacation from Stitchin at Home

Time for Challenge 3 of Project Quilting 12. This time we are to we were to sew up a dream vacation in the future or maybe a memory from a past vacation or maybe build a bag. The project choice was ours to decide.

My dream vacation is simple. I'm trying to look forward to clear skies and sunny days with and have no destination in mind at this time. Just as long as the sun is shining that is all I need.
The world has been in turmoil with Covid-19 holding all our lives in its grasp.

I ...

Daisy from Stitchin at Home

Challenge 2 of Project QUILTING Season 12 is fussy cutting. I am going to try and make a placemat for each challenge, whether or not I'll be successful depends on what the challenge is. Time will tell if I succeed or not. The second goal I set for myself is to use fabrics from my stash/older fabrics.

Let's see how I do with this challenge and my goals. My favourite block is a star block, so that was the starting point. The fabric I choose to fussy cut was an Anna Griffin from 2013, yup time this ...

A Touch of Yellow from Stitchin at Home

Challenge 1 of Project QUILTING Season 12. The first challenge is Illuminating + Ultimate Gray, make a  finished project, any size, using yellow & gray, and post by January 10. My project is a placemat I call 'A Touch of Yellow'. I pulled the fabric for this one from my scraps, yellow is not overly abundant in my stash or scraps, thus I only have a touch of it in my placemat.

The colours are a little off as we have had a lack of sunshine lately.

I used up all of the print fabric I had, I received it from another ...

Sewing for the Placemat Challenge, Prizes and More from From My Carolina Home

This week I got busy making my Cornoacation Placemat for the challenge.  This post will have the parameters, deadlines, and prizes you can win.  The placemat doesn’t have to be fancy, something simple will be just fine.  Mine is just strips of fabrics, quilted and bound on my domestic machine.  Simple and easy!   I began with selecting some fabric prints that would be meaningful to how I am spending my time now.

I cut strips 3-1/2-inches wide x 14 inches, and arranged them in a pleasing way.

Then I simply sewed the strips together.
