Autumn Leaf Panel....Borders from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

24 Leaf Blocks have been pieced...

I am running low on the

yellow background fabric...

I have enough yellow to complete the

leaf border on the right...

Not enough for the outside border

that goes around all of the leaves.

This is fabric purchased 9 years ago...

I was lucky to find more online...

Now, we wait for it to arrive in the mail.

We are still in the middle of calving season

here @ the Kessi Ranch

We have been averaging about 7 calves a week

since we started in February...

Over 40 calves on the ground so far...

Autumn Leaf Panel....Progress from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

Autumn Leaf Panel on the design wall:

I need 6 more maple leaf blocks

to fill in around the border...

Design boards keep me organized

when I am piecing quilt blocks...

It has been FUN using landscape fabrics

to design the maple leaves...

During the dreary, cloudy, gray

winter days, these bright colors

make me happy !

I have enough maple leaf blocks...

I need to add sashing strips between the

leaves and make this whole thing

fit together.....more to come !

Autumn Quilt Panel... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

A gorgeous autumn quilt panel...

These panels are so beautiful

and hard to resist when you see them

at the quilt shops...

especially when you already have a big stash

of landscape fabrics in your cupboard at home

that will compliment them:

I cut up a bunch of squares from the

landscape fabrics and started to

build maple leaf blocks...

This is an excellent quilt block reference...

Long Horn Sheep......Quilt Panel from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

How gorgeous is this...

Hoffman Fabrics

Big Horn Sheep panel...

The fabric on the right is from

Northcott Fabrics

and coordinates beautifully with the sheep...

I decided on a simple border treatment

of small blocks set on point...

all of these fabrics are from different

textile manufacturers,

they go together so nicely.

I dug through the cupboards and

couldn't come up with anything for

a backing fabric...

I ordered a backing fabric

so the quilting is on hold until it arrives.

Cougar Quilt... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

In between trips to the calving barns

to check on the mama cows...

I have been doing a little stitching !

Cougar Panel  by Hoffman Fabrics 2018

This has been hanging around for years...

it is time to do something with this.

I pulled some fabrics from the cupboard

for a border treatment...let's see what happens.

I am thinking...Star Blocks

I do love the orange grunge background fabric...

I haven't done a lot of traditional, precision

piecing the last 10 years...

but, it came right back to me!

These star blocks are lots of FUN !

Commission......Owl Panel from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

Owl Panel

When I was commissioned to create wall art

from this owl panel I was told to do anything

I wanted.....and, if possible, to

make it looked like a framed image...

I pieced flying geese into the border treatment

I found some wooden boards fabric

in my stash and created a frame around it...

Top left corner.....stitched a mitered corner

to look like a wooden frame

I felt that is all this owl panel needed...

It is ready to be basted and quilted...

more to come !

I will leave you with this parting shot:

This is our ...

A Baby Quilts Catch-Up from Sew........This Is My Blog

Since I took a break from blogging during the Pandemic, I missed sharing some of my finishes with you, so I decided to have a little Baby Quilts Show and Tell.

In 2018 I started making a few baby quilts to put back for the great-grands, and only got two finished.

You can read about them here and here.

In 2019 I finished three more to put back.  I used a Zen Chic charm pack for this one and had a little fun with the border.

These two were made from a Hushabye Hollow layer cake from Moda.

Last year ...

For the Birds - top is done!!! from Dreamworthy Quilts

Borders were just finished up on this baby.  It measures 80" x 97", much larger than I set out to make.  I really wanted the bicycle border, and it needed to be wide.

My friend and I will be making a large bicycle to go on the back side of our "For the Birds" quilt.  I purchased this cute pattern and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

I have also been contemplating the finish of my quilted barns. I found this Windmill pattern by the same designer as the bike. I fell quickly in love and decided my barns need a ...

Sewing for Kids...again from Sew Sunshine

After my sew day with my sisters a few weeks ago I have been on a mission to go through my fabrics and put in one place all the kids fabrics I have been accumulating.  I discovered fabrics everywhere...ha surprising not!
It happened that the leader of our local quilts for kids had a medical issue come up before their sew day so I offered to make some kits with my fabric to help out.
I pulled out enough fabric to make several kits...no surprise there.  When I was finished with the kits I found I had some ...

How much is too much? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm happy to say that I'm making great progress. Not as much as I would like, but I'm OK. The binding is on the magazine quilt - well, just one side. I have to do the topstitching this morning and add a sleeve, and then it can go. Yeah!!!

And it would have been done, except I had to do this instead.

Remember the other day that I said I was prepping more fabric for Diane? Well, I found a panel with a partial border on it. I decided to finish off the border and get it ready ...

Hi, fabric lovers!

As you may know, I’ve been having such a kick talking about fabric on the blog lately. So, today we are going to answer some questions we get all the time and show you some of the panels that Art Gallery Fabrics has to offer!

What is a fabric panel?

There are many kinds of panels out there, but AGF creates ...

A road trip from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A road trip! Imagine that! I didn't really need to make the road trip, but what the heck - it was pouring rain and why not!

Actually, I wanted to get that sewing machine to Karen and I had an order to pick up at Thimbles and Things. Both are in the same town and I had been holding off until our retreat at the end of this month. That retreat got canceled and well - I just wanted to cross those two tasks off my list.

Karen is like me - when you get an idea - you want to make it ...
