Oh, I was a happy girl last Sunday. I watched a couple of Lisa Shaw's videos about creating motif fills and decided I really didn't need to do it on this particular quilt. I wanted to, and I want to on other quilts, but this one will reside on the top of our dining table and it doesn't need the foo-foo. Grace — a topic near and dear to me.

Grace is one of those things that means a lot to some people, including myself. Prevenient grace was something I knew nothing about prior to my baptism, but embraced post-conversion. The older I get, the more I practice giving grace to others; and now I’m trying to give myself more grace—it’s easier now than it was earlier in my life.

The Tattoo Quilt, block 4 — from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Hell hath no fury than a confused quilter.

Fury is the block and my fury rose while cutting the pieces for this one. Goodness gracious, this one required six hours of cutting the fabrics.

I celebrated my birthday by spending the entire day in the studios. At 9:00 am I walked into the cutting room. I took a 20 minute break around noonish, went back to cutting and emerged at 3:15 pm with all pieces cut. Y’all, the cutting on this one is tedious.

Sunday Meditation: Soundtracks from Patchwork Sampler Blog

Sometimes things just come together and fall into place. A few months ago, I read the book Soundtracks by Jon Acuff.

The book is about overthinking and how it can paralyze us into complacency and inaction. I loved the book since I tend to overthink EVERYTHING. Jon defines overthinking as “when what you think gets in the way of what you want.” He further says that overthinking steals time, creativity, productivity, and joy. Who wouldn’t want a guide to give you more time, creativity, productivity, and joy?
