Little panel quilts from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday! I hope you're enjoying the days getting longer as spring gets closer. Here are a few small quilts full of cheerful fabrics. This first one is made with eight donated orphan 16-patch blocks. I added these whimsical kitties that were given to me by a member of my online guild, Sunshine.

Kathleen actually sent me two of the kitty panels, so I set the other one among orange, blue and black 9-patches. The little cat faces are so cute!

I had lots of this orange kangaroo fabric, so I used it on the back.

This panel features ...

More orphan blocks and their friends from Kat & Cat Quilts

Hello, friends! Louise here to share a few more quilts made with your orphan blocks. Let's get started with a square quilt for the NICU. Lots of bright colors in this one! The house block is my favorite. The corner blocks were donated as triangles made of the pretty strips and I added the blue. They make a nice frame for the whole piece.

Blue and yellow is such a classic combination, don't you think? Many of the pinwheels arrived as half square triangles, perhaps made with a charm pack. The whale and dolphin panels make a nice ...

Circling the center from Kat & Cat Quilts

Hello, friends! Louise here with more quilts made with your orphan blocks. Today's post will feature pieces that have medallion-style centers. Check out the two gorgeous blocks in the middle of this first one! I believe they were both donated by Jan. I surrounded them with two borders made of various smaller blocks in bright colors, many donated by Priscilla. I tried to keep each color grouped together for a bit of cohesion.

On the back, I used this pretty red and white floral. This was also donated, and I'm always grateful to get big pieces for backings ...

Beautiful blocks from Kat & Cat Quilts

It's time for another display of the lovely blocks you have donated to Covered in Love! Louise here, and I'm so happy to share the beauty that shows up in my mailbox. Let's start with this collection in cool purples, greens and blues.

Aren't these pinwheel rail fence blocks neat? I like to imagine someone made a whole quilt with these blocks, a big swirl of purple and twinkling yellow covering their bed. Of course a wise quilter will make a few extra blocks, just in case. Her careful planning is my raw material!

Next is ...

More comforting quilts from your blocks from Kat & Cat Quilts

Kat is taking a well-deserved vacation so I'm filling in again this week. Here are a few more recent finishes featuring YOUR orphan blocks! Up first is this classic kitchen sink quilt with a little bit of everything in the mix.

The center block was made by Stephanie M. Isn't this little birdie and his house just so cute? She used this block to teach a class at her guild on how to do starch turned applique. Her applique work is amazing, so I'm sure the class was a success!

Next is this bright, happy piece made ...

Orphan blocks playing together from Kat & Cat Quilts

Hello, friends! Louise here to share more of your donated orphan blocks. It's so satisfying to find a group of friendly blocks to play nicely together into a finished quilt. Let's start with this one in red, black, and cream. It started with two sets of bear paw blocks. The ones across the bottom came to me as separate blocks, and the ones at the top are 3D and were already sewn together. That thin red line is a skinny flange. These was some extra bear fabric so I added that elsewhere for continuity.

Sometimes I know who ...

I get by with a little help... from Kat & Cat Quilts

...from my friends. Hello! Louise here with some quilts that were started by friends of Covered in Love, and finished by me. These only needed a little help, making my job easy.

First up is this great modern turquoise quilt. Diane N. started this top and made all the cool striped squares with a single fabric cut into triangles. Look at how perfectly the stripes match up. Wow! The original design started out on point and looked like it would finish king size or even bigger. HUGE! It came to me still in pieces, about 3 or 4 diagonal rows ...

So much variety in your orphan tops and blocks! from Kat & Cat Quilts

Welcome to another post featuring YOUR orphan blocks and tops! Louise here, filling in the words to go with Kat's mighty fine photos. With everything Kat has on her plate, I'm so grateful that she takes the time to make these quilts shine in their school pictures.

The first quilt features a garden theme. The four sections look like they were sewn together by the
same person and were perhaps meant to be small wall hangings. Such pretty little panels!

I added a neutral background to combine them into a single lap sized piece and put more garden ...
