Midweek: orchid show 2024 from With Strings Attached

The annual orchid show at Chicago Botanic Garden is a wildly popular event.  This year the tickets are timed admission which helps a lot with crowd control.   Monday morning wasn't terribly busy (compared to weekends) and we were able to get a handicapped parking space right at the entrance.

Big Top-style music played in the exhibit hall (not in the greenhouses).  There were  clever arrangements.

It is impossible to take a bad photo of an orchid.

Fun house wavy mirrors.

It was a delight for both of us!

And we were home for a late lunch.

Still at it... from Elsie Quilts

I'm still not finished the yellow improv scrap quilt . . . but getting there.

Just have a new pic of those wonderful orchids that our son gave me. Now there are 18 blooms on it and all are perfect. Such a delight to watch them come out!

We are getting warmer weather, much welcome after a week or so of -40 with wind. The melting makes walking from our door out of the complex quite dangerous though. I'd like to go but need cleats!

Momma’s Orchids from Pebble Creek Arts

This painting is from a photo that I took when my mom visited me several years ago in Nashville.

I started this painting in 2014 and set it aside. It was one my many works in progress that sat around the studio. I have decided that I will finish them all before I start any new paintings. I will still work on charcoal drawings in front of the television some nights with my husband, but no more new paintings until I finish all of them. 21 was the Pebble Creek painting I posted about last week. This is number 20 ...
