The days just fly by.
In April I finished Freeze Fame and the stitching on the Gardener’s Angel of Spring. That was one more project than I thought I’d finish. I didn’t begin anything new.
I started The Short List many years ago to create short-term goals and a way to focus. I change things up as my priorities and interests change.
Project 1 (Stitching): Summer Flowers, a kit I bought at the thrift in March. It’s small and won’t take long.
Project 2 (Finishing): I have a frame picked for Gather and Give Thanks ...
read moreGood morning, my friends. It's a good thing I have lots of pictures for you today. We can both just sit back and relax. I did almost nothing yesterday. The day off was very nice, and I'm happy to report my pain level is back to pretty much zero. (At my age, we're not ever quite at zero.)
The only thing I accomplished yesterday was getting Smitty out for some more Cattucky grass.
The people with the big woofies moved on and so the space beside us was empty. I've realized if I carry him around ...

read moreMy OMG for April was finishing the April challenge quilt, which had no name in March. The quilt was based on a pattern called Ruffles by Sew Be It. I ended up naming it Freeze Frame.
I painted the background fabric because I didn’t have anything in my stash that I liked with the reds I picked for the flower petals. The fabric in the flower center was painted years ago and textured with salt. I added a second layer of batting under the center that I thought made it too puffy. I added beads to the center to ...
read moreGood morning, my friends! So y'all are probably wanting to know if the clouds cleared so we could see the eclipse. I'm as happy as I can be to report that we did! It happened in the sweetest spot of a break in the clouds. When I left you yesterday, it was all clouded over, and we despaired about being able to see anything.
The eclipse wasn't supposed to begin in our area until around 12:38 p.m. I had a few things I wanted to do in the morning. At the top of my list ...

read moreMarch brought a lot of new starts plus finishes on Trinidad and the candle mat. I didn’t remember finishing anything until I looked back at last month’s Short List. Good thing it’s there to remind me.

Project 1 (Stitching): The Gardener’s Angel of Spring by Crab-apple Hill. It’s moving along.
Project 2 (Original): The next “pass it” challenge. This one is ready to quilt.
Project 3 (UFO): Remember ...

Good morning, my friends. Be careful out there today. A prankster is lurking around every corner. Who would ever think the first full month of spring would be so full of danger?
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, we had a day off for Easter Sunday. The kitties got into the swing of it right away. They spent their morning in synchronized napping.

For March, my OMG was to trace The Gardener’s Angel of Spring by Crab-apple Hill onto fabric and start stitching.
I got a decent start on the stitching. The only stitch on the piece so far is back stitch, but there are other stitches in the design.
It’s my first time using overdyed floss, and I find it tangles easier than DMC. Some colors are definitely more variegated than others. I’m reserving judgement until I see the finished piece.

read moreGood afternoon, my friends. It was a "life" day today. Mike has been outside most of the day. First, he washed the windows. Then he went around, wiping off the whole RV with a rag and a bucket. The man is very picky about his toys.
I've done three loads of laundry today and I made a macaroni salad for tonight's dinner. We're having BLATs. Those are BLT's with some avocado added. If you've been keeping count, you should know that I'm gaining on my goal to use avocados 1,001 different ways. We ...

Numerous deadlines took up most my time the first part of the year, but I’m aiming for a more normal blog schedule now.
In February and March to date, I finished Gather, Trinidad and a small request from a co-worker. I am moving on to a new list.
I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I change things up as my goals and interests change.
Project 1 (Stitching): Candle mat. This was a program at a quilt group I haven’t belonged to in years, found ...
