SSQ Quilt Show in April from AQuA

If you were at the January 2022 meeting you heard member Janet Wheeler tell all about the preparations and process for the Sunset Slope Quilters (SSQ) huge Mesas to Monuments quilt show at the Grand Junction Convention Center on April 8-9, 2022. We all want to support this group’s hard work to exhibit the tremendous fiber art talent in our valley.

There will be a section of the show devoted to art quilts, but it won’t be exclusive to only AQuA. Only SSQ members (who may also be AQuA members) can hang quilts, but we have a committee ...

Eldrid Schafer Morning Feeding 1922, Juror Selection #1

On Saturday, September 18 we had the big reveal of the eleven quilts turned in, intended for the November Mancuso show in New Jersey. Fabric panels are the perfect place to play, try new techniques, and practice your machine quilting skills. I especially love the fabric panels from Susybee Textiles for both practicing free motion quilting and chenille. Take a look at how we turned adorable Susybee panels into a chenille pillow!

Twists and Turns Quilts from AQuA

At our September 19, 2020 regular meeting seven members turned in eight quilts for the Mancuso New Jersey Quiltfest in November (the show has now been cancelled for 2020). See them here

Creative and inventive quilts, all with a different take on the theme from architecture, travel scenes, animals and pets, bicycling, and the turns in our world with virus and fires. After much deliberation, it was determined they were photographed and sent to the juror Deb Snider for critique. However, with the small number of quilts no viewers choice or ranking of the quilts will be completed.

Instead here are some little things, little happenings, and little news bits.

Let's start with this stinker. Doesn't she look just so sad? I was sitting at the table doing paperwork and heard a whimper of a cry ...

Voting for the members choice was like choosing a favorite child or grandchild; hard decisions. Harvest Moon Tranquility by Linda Stahl was selected. Congratulations Lynda and thanks from the Mancuso committee for all the creative entries.

Since the Lancaster Quiltfest has been cancelled by Mancuso for 2020, the ‘Orange” quilts will be sent to our ...
