Red Is a Neutral ... more blocks from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

There are not many more blocks, but I put in a couple of afternoons to get these done. Tuesday's work:
I made these Dutchman's Puzzle blocks. I needed only one but it's an easy block, so I thought I'd make two. As soon as I sewed the final seam on the second block, I realized that I had not arranged all four sections correctly. One was turned the wrong way. What an annoyance!

Once I started ripping the sections apart, I decided to play. Why not? I needed only one block. So now I have two ...

More on "One Big Finish" from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Last week I wrote about this whopper of a quilt! A king with a little extra drop on the sides because I almost could. Almost--meaning I really couldn't but I tried anyway and then improvised.

I decided that we needed a new quilt for our bed since the bed is new, the floor and paint are new, and well, almost everything thing else is new. Why not the quilt, right? But the bed is a king and I've made only one of those before.

After thinking about it quite a long time, I decided that I should go ...

Sunday Quilt Inspiration: neutrals from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

I've been working on a couple of projects. All of them use neutrals so I've been had neutrals on my mind for the past week. Well, neutrals and Christmas--there's a conflicting proposition. I suppose one sort of offset the other because I wasn't all antsy and worried about getting everything ready. In fact, we have a wedding in Houston tomorrow and other than to clean house, shop, and finish up gift wrapping, I haven't been worried at all.

Dropcloth ~~ a modern finish from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

I decided about a month ago that I wanted to enter a few quilts into QuiltCon. Hopefully, the jury will accept them, but for now I just want to try. I tried last year but missed the mark, so this year I decided to try a different tactic. I'd make a quilt especially for this purpose.

To that end, I read the rules. Several times. Then I pondered and mulled and thought. And I read the rules again. I decided. One quilt would meet the requirements of the two-color challenge, and the second would shoot for the requirements of ...

Neutrals and reds and math from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Oh my heavens, y'all, I do not know a bit of math. Nothing. Nada. Puh. How do I know? Because I needed math all day. Know what I got? Puh!

I've continued working on the neutrals scrap quilt top. Thanks to your encouragement, I decided to keep going with the red scraps because, I wanted to make it work. I'm hard-headed that way. Besides, I had sewn some of the scraps into fabric blocks.

I have a 15" square ruler and cut the beige pieces into uniform blocks to match the ruler. That was easy and helped ...

Cappuccino's and Quilts- Wood Trails Mini Quilt Tutorial from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Sewing Friends,

I know it's not quite hot chocolate weather but October's AGFcolorfun color of the month has me feeling all warm and tingly inside! This months color is Cappuccino! This warm, woodsy color was such a refreshing shade to work with. I am used to using a lot of color and tend to shy away from neutral fabrics but after designing the Wood Trails mini quilt I am all about it! The Wood Trails mini measures out to be 16" x 16" and would make perfect throw pillows for the holiday season ahead.
