Raspberry Swirl and Trinket SAL from Sew Preeti Quilts

It is said that every end is a new beginning. Well, I have both a finish and a start to share with you. Plus a bit of bragging :-)

1. Raspberry Swirl
2. Trinket SAL
3. Meet Cute is on QI

First the finish.  Meet Raspberry Swirl.

Raspberry Swirl

Raspberry Swirl is the finished quilt resulting from my workshop with Debby Kratovil.

Two done, Two to go

This was my first workshop and first time working with my Dresden ruler.  I am sure the ruler was feeling bereft and was thrilled to come out and play :-)  I ...

January OMG (One Monthly Goal) from Books, Hooks, Sticks, etc.

Last year I did fairly well with getting OMG's done. . . .but I hope to do better this year.

My first goal for 2019 is to complete a quilt for a young girl whose family has lost everything in the Paradise, CA wild fires.

I am using a free pattern from Moda Bake Shop called Country Summer (but it was called something else when I originally printed the directions.

I am using a variety of teals and blues for the blocks and a white on yellow for the background.

The goal for January is to get the top completed.  Now ...

Red and white quilt book winner from Moda Lissa

Friday was a 12 hour whirlwind of a day at Quilt Festival. Several of the Moda team hopped on the first flight out of Dallas for the 50 minute flight to Houston. While we had all been in Houston for Market the week before, it was time to go and see all the festival shops.
Our first stop was to rush to Lisa Bongean at Primitive Gatherings. I had to get some of her new rulers that are designed to cut stems.

Have you seen Lisa’s rugs made using mini charm packs? Perfect Christmas presents!

Pattern available at your ...

Jingle Bell Rock {New on Moda Bake Shop!} from Little Bunny Quilts

I'm excited to share my newest Moda Bake Shop pattern with you -- introducing Jingle Bell Rock!

I've sort of had bowtie blocks on the brain in the last year and I came up with the idea of a bowtie made of pieced nine-patches in the springtime. I found that designs with just my nine-patch bowtie blocks were a little busy and I decided to swap out half of the blocks for log cabins built around a four patch. Here's my original design:

This quilt was made with the Overnight Delivery line from Sweetwater. This is a quilt ...

Recent happenings from Crayon Box Quilt Studio

The kids have been out of school for a few weeks and I've been able to do some sewing here and there recently.  They've been home with me up until this week but now they are going to some local camps so I've been able to get some things done.

A few weeks ago I finished quilting and binding this charity quilt for our guild.  I need to take a full set of pictures of it so I can post about it.
Two moms in my Girl Scout troop have new baby that delivered a ...

Meet Cute from Sew Preeti Quilts

I am thrilled to present Meet Cute. This is my second project for Moda Bake Shop and I am very happy about it.

Meet Cute
Unlike Esmeralda which was not for the faint-hearted, Meet Cute is easygoing and very adaptable.

Simple Block - 17.5" square

Large and simple block finishes at 17.5" square. This means that you only need 4 blocks for a baby quilt (36" square).  This lap quilt uses 12 blocks and finishes at about 53" by 70".

There are no seams to match, which makes it a an easy beginner project. Or a speedy one for ...

{ A First Finish for 2018 } from {The Sweetest Dreams}

It feels good to finally be able to share a finish. Meet Big Sky.

I'm in love with Big Sky fabric line by Annie Brady for Moda. The colors and prints are amazing and just perfect for a baby boy.

Could you just die? That moose!

Another reason I'm crazy for this quilt is the fact that I quilted it myself on a long arm. First time!

Quilt finished at 51x51
Fabric is Big Sky by Annie Brady
Quilted by ME!
Pattern is Wild Windows by Kristina at Center Street Quilts. It's a freebie over at the ...

Garden Plots {New Moda Bake Shop Pattern} from Little Bunny Quilts

I'm so excited to share about my newest Moda Bake Shop Pattern -- Garden Plots!

This is a complicated looking quilt that has all straight seams! This could easily be accomplished by a confident beginner or intermediate quilter! A single block is a grand 18" square, so only a few blocks make a rather large quilt! Each block uses two jelly roll strips -- I chose to make each block using two different fabrics.

I quilted this quilt with an all-over meander with flowers -- my go to motif as of late!

This quilt uses one jelly roll and a total of ...

What a Year!!! from Sew Preeti Quilts

It has been a rollercoaster of a year for me in so many ways.  Paul and I celebrated our 10th anniversary.

As my surprise gift, we went i-flying.

That was an exhilarating experience which I happily repeated.

Quilting wise, if there was an overall theme running through 2017, it had to be scrap vortex.  I completed four of them, including Happy and Lucky.

Lucky and Happy

The Honey Pot Bee blocks were a mixed bag.  Here are a couple of my favorites - the Stripey Stripe Block.

Stripey Stripe Block
And this leaf block by Intrepid Thread is so striking, I ...

A Quilt Specially Made For Mom from Studio Dragonfly Quilts

My mom wanted a quilt for Christmas. Not a quilt I had made and decided after the fact to give to her. She wanted one that was made especially for her, with thoughts of her filling every inch of fabric. It took two attempts for me to get it right. At first I thought, sure mom, I can do that. And I thought about a design I had wanted to try (the pineapple block) and how great it would be as a scrap busting quilt. So off I went, and I loved it. About four blocks in I realized I ...

new baby Ella needs a quilt.

This quilt finished at 52x52

Woodruff Memory Quilt Finish: Dad’s Shirts from The Carpenter's Daughter Who Quilts

Hi, I am happy to share my tenth memory quilt made from our Dad’s plaid shirts. This is the first one that has been quilted and bound. It was on display at our niece’s wedding in October at the reception. I wanted it finished in time so it would be like part of Grandpa was able to be there in spirit at their wedding.

I used the Moda Bake Shop quilt tutorial called Woodruff designed by Nicola Dodd of Cake Stand Quilts. Nicola quilted her version in a neat all over petal quilt design and she shared how ...

marmalade quilt from Crazy Mom Quilts

Welcome to finish it up Friday!

It's an exciting day! I finished hand stitching the binding on my marmalade quilt this morning!
This is the first quilt finish I've had since May. That's like 6 months! (WHAT???) I'm still trying to figure out how that happened. I guess it really doesn't matter that much. It's not like I'm running out of quilts or anything. Hahahaha!
The pattern is called Cartwheels, which is free on the Moda Bake Shop. I made this version with a layer cake instead of a jelly roll. Because of ...

Esmeralda from Sew Preeti Quilts

Have you met the princess, Esmeralda?
Here she is.

I am in love with her.

Shines & Shimmers

Me: Look, look, these point meet so perfectly.
Paul: Uh Huh.

Me: Love when that happens.
Paul: These points seem a teensy bit off

Me: Who told you to look at that one? In any case, that is a reject.
Paul: Hmmm. So not all points are perfect.

Me: They are better than before.
Paul: Before? You have made this before?
Me: Yes, it is the same design as Mom' Quilt that I made last year.
Paul ...
