Frosty Morning from Cat Patches

It's a chilly morning out there, my friends. Very cold weather is on its way. So far, it's very pretty. We had a nice view of the mountains with a pink-tinged sky.

If sailors should take warning at a red sky in morning, what do you suppose they're to do with a pink sky?

It was a busy day yesterday, with almost no time for sewing. I got my monthly pedicure, and I did some grocery shopping. Whole Foods didn't let me down on my mushroom hunting expedition. I found a good supply of chanterelles there ...

Stormy Weather from Cat Patches

To quote a phrase, "It was a dark and stormy night." And that was our day yesterday. It rained hard most of the day. The kitties spent their time snuggled up in their quilts. Smitty paused to knead his quilt back into submission as I was taking his picture.

Sadie likes staying undercover. She's practicing to become an agent for the CIA (Cats In Action).

We had grocery shopping to do, and so it was around 2:00 p.m. by the time I made my way into the sewing room. I still had nine cats from the cat ...

Searching for Spring from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my blogging friends! I'm happy to say that our internet is back up and running. An old, deteriorated cable was to blame for our troubles. And so I'm seated at my desk this morning. I've been working from a laptop for so long, the big screen of my desktop computer seemed impossibly large. Our grocery shopping is done and all the RV bedding, quilts, and towels are washed. Just our dirty clothes remain, and then I can safely say we're back to our usual routine.

When we had the groceries put away yesterday, I ...

Another Little Kitty Quilt from Cat Patches

It must be my month for cat quilts because it seems that's all I'm working on right now. Before heading off to the grocery store yesterday, I hung the Kitty Cat Alphabet in one of the few remaining open spots in the downstairs Mewseum.

There are still a few spots left for very small quilts, but anything larger will need to move to the upstairs portion of the Mewseum.

It was late in the day by the time I was able to head into the sewing room. The first order of business was to sew the nurse's ...

Free Day Friday from Cat Patches

It's good to be nearing the end of this hectic week. I had so many places to be, and then the roofers were here, making it all sort of stressful. Yesterday was the day for my monthly pedicure, which was very nice. Still, it meant driving to the salon and fighting traffic. I made two stops on the way home for convenience sake. Living a fair distance from anything, no trip into town is wasted on just one errand. By the time I got home, I was ready for a nice long nap. Mike headed into town in the ...

Relaxing and Sewing from Cat Patches

It's been a busy couple of days. Yesterday, I had just a few easy chores to do, but then I spent most of the day sewing...either by machine or by hand. The machine sewing was spent finishing off the top-stitching and machine embroidery for New Mexico Kitchen.

It wasn't finished yet though. Next, I needed to do some hand embroidery. I added some vegetables to the stew, divots in the potato skin, holes for the salt shaker, and a name for the bottle of chile powder. I was going by the pattern spelling, but I think "chile ...

Chickening Out from Cat Patches

Well, if the day had been any busier yesterday, I'm afraid I might have been done in. Today will be much the same. Thursday I'll get a pedicure, which will be salve for the soul.

It started out easy enough. We hung the Summer Holiday quilt on the 2nd floor of the Mewseum. That makes three quilts on the second floor collection.

The quilt on the far wall isn't a cat quilt, but oh well. Mike likes it, and so it stays. It's this Happy Village quilt I made some time ago. No doubt there are ...

A Dozen Chickens from ... Cat Patches

Yesterday's grocery shopping trip was quick. Our list was short, and we were home by around 10:15 a.m., which left me lots of time to finish up my quilting for the day. I even did some housework. (Polishes fingernails on shirt.) Time was short because Mike and I still needed to drive into downtown Portland.

So, I finished up the last of the chicken blocks. Yesterday's addition to the buffet:

Fried Chicken. This one took forever. I was about one-quarter of the way through it when I realized the quilt corner was folded under, and I ...

Hot Harvest from Cat Patches

We had very warm weather yesterday. Toward the end of the afternoon, the temperature outside was 98°F., which is very hot for our hill. I can only imagine how people in the valley were suffering. We're expecting more hot weather today, but this morning's sunrise was beautiful. I can't recall seeing raking light from the clouds like this before.

While I was out, I walked all the way around the house, passing by Smitty along the way. He loves the warm weather and spends most of his time out on the catio.

Also, I passed by ...
