Firsts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Don't we love to document our "firsts"? The first block of a project? First child? After we get the first out of the way, the rest doesn't really count. I have a couple of firsts to share today.

Wednesday was M's FIRST day at school. Yes - she's off to Vancouver Film School to up her game in the acting world. Sounds like she's having a blast and hopefully learning lots. Good luck M!! Someday we hope to see your name in lights!!! Well technically that's theatre, but you never know where life will take ...

Happy New Year - 2019 from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Happy New Year!!!!!

It's a bittersweet morning at our house. M, James, and Mr. Bear have already left and are at the airport waiting for their flight home. I miss them already. Well, I do miss Mr. Bear!!!  OK - so who am I kidding - I did enjoy their visit and I will miss them. Have a safe flight and LOVE YOU ALL TO PIECES!!!

I think he's much happier to be going as a passenger this time instead of ...

It's time to get organized! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's that time of the year. Everyone (except DH) makes resolutions. OK - not everyone. I don't really make resolutions either. But I make goals. Goals are way easier to reach because there's a definite end to them. I was digging through some paperwork and found some resolutions (goals) from a while back and I'll share them with you another day. Very interesting!

But one of my challenges is that I have a lot of stuff. Is it too much? Probably, but my mindset is that if I have the room to store it, then I have ...

How to have a stress free Christmas from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Hopefully, you all had a great and stress-free Christmas.

We had a super day with loads of memories and fun. While I like the holidays, I'm not one for fussing and spending hours prepping. I like simple. While a nicely decorated house is very pretty, it takes a ton of time, money, and effort to make that happen. So how to get the house ready for Christmas with minimal effort?

Here's our Christmas tree!  Yes - it's a quilt I designed a couple of years ago. It's a modern Christmas tree.

Our Christmas tree
The pattern appeared ...

Merry Christmas!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Merry Christmas to everyone!!

It's weird and just a sign that life is passing us by. M is home for Christmas with James and of course little Bear. I guess it's technically our first Christmas with the whole family together. We didn't do a lot of shopping, I didn't do a lot of decorating. That's not what Christmas is all about. It's about being together and enjoying each other's company. We do have a "tree" with decorations - I'll share that with you tomorrow once all the presents get under it.

I'm ...

Mother's Day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was a fabulous day. Did I get any quilting done? Very little. It was the first absolutely gorgeous day that we've had all year and I was going to take advantage of the day. The girls had fun at the dog park and then the rest of the day was for ME!!!!

Here's the wee bit of quilting I got done.   I made the binding for the remaining two #Humboldtstrong quilts.

Binding for the last two #Humboldtstrong quilts
My plan was to get all four bindings on so the quilts could be packaged up and in the ...

I've got gas! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

NO - not that kind of gas - gas for the car.

I was teaching two classes yesterday (welcome to all the students if you're reading the blog!) and I didn't get a lot of chance to get any sewing done for myself. I'm an "early to bed" person and I had had two late nights (for me) the previous two nights so I was tired.

Anyway, on Friday night when I was coming home, I knew that I had to fill up the car with gas, but I was tired. The price of gas in my neighborhood was ...

Big and small from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm not going to panic! Nope - just because I realized that I have a quilt due to a magazine on March 8 and I'm still piecing it - I'm not going to panic!

It's mostly together, it's small so finishing it shouldn't be a problem. But dang it - I knew it was due that date and somehow, it just slipped my mind. All this time working on other things when I should have had this ready for the long arm!  Let's not forget that there is another one due on March 15 so I ...

Little miss muffet from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A bittersweet way to start the day - M and Bear left on their 7 AM flight to go home. Yep - She's exactly like me - very disorganized just before leaving the house on a trip!  I must say that we had a great visit and was a lot more fun than I anticipated. I guess she was right - that means that we're both growing up! So the sad part is that she has gone home, but on the bright side - I managed to get her to clean up a fair amount of stuff that was laden with dust and ...

Inflation - I think not! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

While yesterday was a super productive day, I did NOT get nearly as much accomplished as I would have hoped.

I spent almost the ENTIRE day prepping those damn tuffet kits! While there are only 7 in the class, some people wanted multiples of the various components. It's a lot of cutting and sewing and cutting and sewing. I also worked on my tuffet because this is the third class and I still don't have one done myself. Today is the day!  The leg brackets are on, the cover is done, I've fabric for the button and ...

Quilting archives! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I have to say that it felt good to get back to my routine yesterday! I had been ignoring some paperwork and I made a good stab at two of the items. There will be some follow-up for both, but that's OK - let's get these things done and off my plate as there's a lot more waiting to be processed!

Part of the routine is getting back to the gym. I pay a lot for that membership, I might as well make good use of it. So I was off to my favorite spin class this morning ...

Quilting up a storm! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So while I'm not addicted to the computer and my technology tools, there are times when I feel like I'm addicted to my sewing machine! Obsessed with sewing? I suppose although I do squeeze in time for reading and other things.

It wasn't a super productive day yesterday for a number of reasons. Lexi mentioned one of them on her blog this morning. We have company now for the next couple of weeks but that's OK. The company is pretty self-sufficient, although there are a few things around here that I want her to sort through ...

The calm.................. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Everything just seems a whole lot calmer today!  I still have a lot of sewing to do.  I'll be making handles for my tote bags today, but it's a whole lot calmer!

And let me tell you how distracting TV is!  Now I know why I don't watch it anymore.  I'm doing some research and it requires a wee bit of TV watching. Fortunately, I found the show I want on Youtube. I downloaded an episode onto the iPad and placed the iPad on my cutting mat while I was cutting this morning. Then I moved ...

How to buy a winter coat in three easy steps! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

You know me - I HATE shopping for clothes. I'd almost prefer getting a root canal and I loathe the dentist. I think you get the idea here - clothes shopping and me - just not a happy scene. So one must find unique ways to go shopping.

I rarely look at my cell phone when I'm at work. Often times, it's stays in my purse or one of my tote bags or my back pocket. But there are times when I keep it on my desk. Just depends on the day. So if you send a text to my ...

Some advice for my dear daughter! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Children - you love them. You love them a lot, but boy oh boy, they can drive you to drink. A LOT!

Fortunately, that never happened at our house, but there were times.

Among the issues we had was the constant (or so it seemed) loss of keys. The mail box key, the house key. You try to give your children some responsibility and yet - well we had a lot of lost keys at our house.

A while back, I was searching under the seat of my car as I had dropped something. Guess what I found?  Yep - that would be ...
