Update ~ Post Surgery from Tea Rose Home

I can't believe it has already been two weeks since my double mastectomy. I wouldn't say it has been a smooth and easy recovery, but I guess it's not that horrible either. In fact, I am still seeing lots of blessings these past two weeks.

The picture I posted here with the pink ribbons are a surprise from my wonderful neighbors. I don't really know exactly who was involved, but they were not only tied to the pillars and on the mailbox of our home, they are in our entire neighborhood and streets. How amazing is ...

Chillingsworth pic 2

Panels are GREAT for decorating. Fast, easy, and cute! Or spooky in the case of Mr. Chillingsworth. I'm rather fond of him myself.

I made this for my niece who loves all things spooky.  The panel is still available but the companion fabrics are not. BUT you can find other fabulous fabrics and do this basic idea for ANY panel with my directions.

  • Make your panel the size of my ...

Whimsy Nostalgia: Little Clementine Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Is there a certain children's book that you absolutely loved as a kid?!

When I was a little girl, my mother or grandmother would lay in bed next to me with a book, and would read to me before I fell asleep, each night. As they read to me, I would let my imagination come to life, pretending that I was making friends with animals or mystical creatures in the story, and going on adventures to far off lands! Depending on the character in the book, my grandmother would change the tone of her voice as she read aloud ...

Sometimes I go stop in my tracks when I see a quilt, this is one that did it for me! My friend Joanna of Figtree Loves antique quilts. She designed this quilt using vintage blocks in a gorgeous and classic Red/Green/Cream.

The One With (Surprising) Success from knot what it seams

It turned out awesome!

The pattern workLog cabined just like it did in my mind and the best thing of all? My math worked! Which if anyone remembers the hexagon quilt that was supposed to be a square quilt but I got my triangles wrong they would know that math isn’t really my strong suit.

Throw in the fact that I did all the figuring out in the space of a few minutes while at work, forgot to double check them when I got home and just started cutting things out? It’s nothing short of astounding!

Originally I ...

Quilting Day from From the Strawberry Patch...

Well, if the truth were told I would love for every day to be quilting day at my house; wouldn't you? But, as we all well know, life creeps in around the edges and the time we have to dedicate to our favorite passion is often squeezed in where we can fit it. I took a whole day a week or so ago and quilted up these two long-forgotten quilt tops for my Mom. She only recently found them in a box

This whole idea revolved around inviting shop owners to come over to our booth and share their "sewing journey" of how they got into the sewing industry. The winner with the "most inspiring" story would receive an EXCITING PRIZE of 12 AGF Color Master Boxes. We ...

Top 5 Summer Soiree Outfits from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi There Makers!

How’s your May going so far? With the “first day of summer” only a few weeks away (June 21st), I don’t know about you but with this season quickly approaching, I have several upcoming occasions where I’ll need a summery outfit - a brunch-themed baby shower, a daytime wedding on the beach, and a garden/boho themed bridal shower! Since all of these events will be taking place outside, I’ll definitely need to sew something light in fabric, as well as comfortable but still somewhat dressy. Here’s some ideas I’ve gathered from ...

First Night from From the Strawberry Patch...

I dropped off her finished quilt while she was at preschool on Friday, her Mommy helped me to smooth it onto her bed; Lynnleigh knew that Nana was going to deliver it and that it would be waiting.
