Betwixt and Between from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was kind of a dull day yesterday. I got in a Bowflex workout, and then I did some quilting. My problem is that we're close enough to a trip that I don't want to start on anything I can't finish, but I don't have enough of anything else to fill my time. It's a little too early to start packing, although I have a menu planned and a grocery list made. Today I'm getting my hair cut. Tomorrow we're doing our grocery shopping. After that, it'll be ...

Sewing Season from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We've had a couple of rainy days Thursday and Friday. It was good soaking rain, and it will go a long way toward greening up our field. After having to evacuate for a wildfire a couple of years ago, we're a little gunshy about leaving our place in the fall these days. With this bit of moisture, we can feel a little better about it. One of our trees is reminding us that fall is just around the corner.

I took the first stitches on the new Phenology piece yesterday. The motifs are small ...

Food, Glorious Food from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. How's everybody doing? We're doing a little better at this end. My wrist is improving slowly. A big thank you to everyone who sent well wishes. I didn't respond to everyone since I was serious about giving my wrist a rest, but your comments were very much appreciated. I'll probably continue to take a few more days off from quilting, but I was able to do some sewing yesterday. Of course, slow-stitching was never in question. I had lots of time for that over the weekend. But if I couldn't do ...

It's a Start from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy morning here yesterday. After writing my blog post, I took the first stitches on the third embroidered section of the Girls' Getaway quilt. Mainly, I was just cleaning up the bits and bobs of floss left over from the last section.

When I get back to it today, my floss bobbins will be clean, and I can do some serious stitching.

From there I started two loads of clothes (one load at a time, obviously), and I baked a Blueberry Zucchini Cake with Lemon Buttercream. I'm only making half the recipe ...

Scrappy Plus Puzzle from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing fast this morning because I'm going to the farmer's market with Erik and Mae. It's one of my favorite ways to start a day. We saw them for dinner a couple of weeks ago, but this is only the second time I'll see them since we've been home from our trip. They lead busy lives, and it's always a treat when I can spend a little time with them and hear about what they've been up to.

As I mentioned yesterday, I was in the mood ...

Two Blocks from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. First of all, thank you for your many kind comments about the Tin Cup Store quilt. I'm so glad you like it. It was the most difficult of the art quilts I've attempted, and completing it has enhanced my confidence level. There are two prompts left in this round of quilts. I have ideas for both, and so I'll be working on the next one soon. To see how others in the group interpreted the "Vintage" prompt, visit The Endeavourers blog right here.

In other sewing, I finished top-stitching the first block for ...

A Finish in Black and White from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a sit and stitch day yesterday. I was able to get all the way around my quilt binding, and I have a finished quilt to show you today. It was created from Moda's Catnip panel. The panel was a gift from my friend, Sharon, quite some time ago. I'm making a concerted effort to turn several different panels I've acquired into finished quilts, and this was among them. This is the Catnip quilt. It ends up at 67 x 67 inches.

If I'm remembering correctly, I found a similar layout ...

Taking it Easy from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Yesterday's activities kept me busy most of the day. Still, somehow, it felt relaxing. I spent some time on my slow-stitching. This piece is densely stitched. It's still going to be a couple of days before I can move my hoop to the next section. Here's what I have so far.

When I was finished with that, I took a walk on the treadmill, and then I got busy making our dinner for the day. It's nice to have dinner already made ahead, and then I can just sit and relax at ...

Line By Line from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. My morning started too early today. I don't know about you, but I have this notion of a "witching hour," and if I wake up during that hour...any time after about 3:30 a.m....I can't get back to sleep. My brain seems to think I've slept long enough, and it winds up into full-blown thinking mode, making it difficult to relax and return to peaceful slumber. Usually, I give myself about an hour, and if I'm still awake, I might as well get up. The warm weather is part ...

Busy Kitchen Day and a Winner! from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! It's a coolish morning here at the Three Cats Ranch. Our temperature was into the 50's this morning...nice. It's much better sleeping weather when we can turn off the A/C and open some windows.

So who's up for some winning action this morning? I'm going to spin the random number generator and see who wins the fat quarter bundle I'm giving away to celebrate my 14th Blogiversary. And the winner is...
