This morning was texts back and forth with Happy Easter! I enjoy getting those! It's fun to see who will send them. Of course my brothers and their family do a family text, so my phone goes off every few minutes. I get to the point where I love it when they quit. The one part I don't care for is the "liked" "loved" stuff.
I decided to get laundry going. Yep, not much going on around here. We had Easter supper planned but that's about it.
Then I pulled out my cross stitching and got to ...

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your encouraging words, kind comments and support for all my endeavors! I do enjoy blogging so much, because of you!

Still working on the challenge quilt. Still stitching the SAL sampler. I’m caught up on that until my Guild meeting Wednesday.
Since I don’t have anything new to share, I thought I’d share an older finish. The label says I made it in 2012. If you’re not a long time reader you may have missed it.
There is no pattern for this quilt. I think I made it up as I sewed. I remember wanting to play with bright colors and black and white prints. I don’t decorate for Valentine’s day ...
read moreI chose finishing a Christmas tree ornament as my OMG for January. Nothing like getting a head start on next year.
The pattern came from an Oxmoor House book published back in 1986. I think I bought the book at a thrift store many years ago. I know making this ornament has been on my wish list for quite a while.
I’m linking to the finish party at Elm Street Quilts.

Work continues on the challenge quilt. Once I sew sections together I will post pictures.
I had a couple Zoom meetings this week, which gave me opportunities to do hand work.
It’s meant to look like a Christmas cookie when finished. The stitching goes faster now that I’m past all the tiny chain stitches.

How did you do this week?
!--> read moreLike everyone else, I ended last year thinking about plans for this year. 2021 was not a prolific year in the sewing room. I spent far more time stitching and finished a lot of projects as compared to prior years.
I’m not a fast sewer or stitcher. I’m usually one of the last people to finish in class. I rarely have extended for creative hobbies.
That said, I will continue to have a Short List but a much smaller one. My goals this year are to use what I have, finish what I’ve started and do the ...
read moreToday we were up and getting ready for Nick and Joanne to show up. They had said they would be here around 2:30 pm. Texted and found out they were coming at 4 pm. We got things ready. Put supper in the oven and had everything read for when they arrived.
We finally sat down to eat around 5 pm. It turned out to be a great meal. I did enjoy it. The bread was nice a fluffy.
We then played games. I won the domino's game and Nick won the Rummikub game. I lost that last one ...

A member of my Needle Arts Guild passed away suddenly this year. Her family let the Guild members take whatever they wanted from her stash. I took this towel and one magazine. I’m pleased to have finished it in the same year it came in.
I’m linking to Elm Street Quilts for the OMG finish party.
read moreToday we slept in. Katt called to wake her father up - which is a tradition. Of course he was in a soar mood. It turned out she was a little bit down too. So, didn't talk to him for awhile this morning - till I calmed down and he had his shower.
We then worked on getting the closet in the hallway cleaned out. I have a couple quilts to take to Phil and one to Katt. I want to get some things out of the house. I decided to get rid of a few pillow cases and a few ...
read moreToday started out with me over sleeping. I woke at 9 am and had to get moving fast. It was a day at moms. I had to stop at the post office to drop off a package. I was shocked to find that no one was at the post office and not even cars outside. I thought it was closed at first! The gal at the counter was working on stuff, and laughed at me for saying it was looking like they were closed.
Got to moms. There were 6 of us at the meeting. I took my book mark ...
read moreWith a lot going on at work and the holidays around the corner, creative time is limited. I tend to wok on projects I don’t have to think about.
I need to stitch two more leaves, but started the outlining so I could break it up.
This will be my go to project until I’m off work later next week. If the stitch gods smile on me I’ll finish it this month.

My name is Karli and I am so excited to begin writing some blog posts for AGF! I work on tutorials and project creation here at AGF, so I am thrilled to be able to share my love of sewing and quilting with all you creative individuals, starting with these 12 Days of Christmas.
The holidays are upon us and with Christmas only 19 short days away, I’m sure everyone is busy sewing and quilting away to finish up all their gifts to give. Along with that, it’s time to double-check and make sure you have ...
My Needle Arts Guild met this week and we exchanged Christmas ornaments.
Here is my ornament.
I made ornaments like this a LONG time ago. I found the templates, but I couldn’t find the pattern. The ones I made before had fewer yo yos, but it looks fine either way.
Here is the one I received. It has a place of honor on the tree. Those are some seriously tiny stitches.
This was a random exchange. I did not receive an ornament from the person that got mine. It was more of a draw a number out of a ...
read moreNovember was a good month. I finished the exchange ornament, NOEL, made kitchen curtains and a nightgown. The nightgown wasn’t even on the list.
The December list will be scaled back. It’s more motivating to have a few projects and finish them than a lot of projects and finish nothing. It also leaves room for spontaneous projects.
The Short List categories are UFO, garment, original design, hand work, finishing, classes and other. I’ve used this system for 8 years to keep me focused. The categories change as my goals and interests change. Categories with nothing in process ...
read moreFor my November OMG, I chose to fully finish the Noel cross stitch piece. I decided to finish it as a cube rather than frame it. I thought it would look nicer sitting on a table than hanging on the wall.
I used the tutorial by Vonna at The Twisted Stitcher. I found the correct size styrofoam brick at Hobby Lobby. I already had the fabric and trim in my stash.
I’m very pleased with the results. Vonna’s directions are clear and it came together easily. It was a lot more fun than lacing a frame.

A few weeks ago at my Guild’s fabric sale, I bought some possible focus fabric candidates for a group challenge. That group met this week and picked the art deco fabric, but I still have a yard left. I also have the other piece and a small cut of something another member brought to share.
That didn’t help ...
