I've not been paying attention to my calendar and several other activities have snuck up on me. I have a statistics project that will need my attention over the next few weeks. So I'll have to think what goes on my sewing to do list, especially for next week. Before getting to that, I should look at how I did on last week's list. Since we spent time with family for Mother's Day last weekend, I missed out on my normal "nothing but sewing day". So I didn't get quite as far as I'd ...

It was a nice weekend here. The weather was pretty weather and we spent Sunday with my family. My mother is doing better, but she tires easily these days, still we had a good visit.
April seemed to move in slow motion till the middle of the month, but the last couple of weeks went fast. So I'm not ready for it to be May. But since it is, it's time to take a look at where I'm at with my quest for a PHD and link up with Ms P Designs for the April PHD report. On first glance it's a bit sad, there has been no change in my PHD report since January.
I did spend hours in the sewing room last week, but some things take longer than you think they will. I did make good progress on my list for last week, but didn't get to all of it.
To Do List for 04/22/2025
1. 2025 SAHRR: Mail to Trudy ✔
2. 2025 Guild BOM: Finish cutting fabric, start June blocks ✔
3. Kate's Choice: Continue quilting blocks - no progress
4. Old Town: Work on blocks at late night sew ✔
Three out of four isn't a bad week. I made good progress on my top two priorities, so ...
read moreIt was a very wet Saturday. We didn't get the rain that caused flooding in the southern part of the state. But we got enough to make doing anything but hanging out in the sewing room miserable. So that's pretty much what I did the whole weekend. Unfortunately, I can't show off all the progress as most of my time was spent making the June blocks for the Guild BOM. I have to have those ready for the next meeting. I should be able to finish those this afternoon and then get back to the project that ...
read moreNot feeling well definitely slowed down my week on several fronts. I barely got in my 15 minutes on the days I felt really bad, so I didn't do so well on my to do list even though it was pretty short.
It's the halfway point in April. Already? My progress this month is a bit of mixed bag. I'm doing well on some things and no so hot on others. The progress on the to do list is a bit spotty for last week.

Four out of five is definitely not a bad week. Progress has been slow, but steady. I'm hoping for more of the same for this week's to do list.

read moreThe weekend was way too short. I'm retired, but My Guy isn't. We seem to run out of Sunday before we run out of things we planned to do together. The big one this weekend was to get vacation planned. Oh well, I'll work on it this week and we'll finish it off next weekend.
One sewing room chore I tackled this weekend was getting Rhododendron (Bonnie Hunter) prepped for quilting.
There are lots of seams to press. Thankfully there weren't too many loose threads.
So now it's all pressed, de-threaded and ready to ...
read moreJuly wasn't nearly as busy as June, so there was a lot more time for playing in the sewing room. Enough playing that there is finally an update to the PHD report.
Just two finishes so far this year, but I'm doing better than last year when my first finish wasn't till September and the second finish wasn't till November.
The finish for July was the 2023 Stay at Home Round Robin (Quilting Gail).
I'm really happy with how this one turned out. My Guy really likes it. That's a good thing because it ...
read moreSummer is well and truly back. We've had heat advisories pretty much every day since late last week. It is almost August. The first two weeks of that month are typically our hottest. Which isn't fun to contemplate considering how hot early July was.
Since there wasn't much to do but hide in my sewing room, there was lots of stitching time last week, which made pretty quick work of last week's to do list.
To Do list for 7/23/2024
1. Rhododendron: Prep back for quilting ✔
2. Kate's Choice: Continue making blocks ✔

read moreI'm a bit late getting a post up today. It took a while to shake off the mental cob webs this morning for some reason. Now that my coffee cup is mostly empty, brain function seems to be restored. It was a good week for progress. I went to the guild late night sew this week and made good progress on getting Indigo Way (Bonnie Hunter) assembled.
We've settled back into our normal schedule for the most part. The weather has been much nicer as it's cooler, but the mold count is way up. So I've been fighting sinus headaches and congestion for most of the week. It slows me down a little, I tend to nap more (one of the joys of retirement, I don't have to fight the allergies and work). Even with a few naps, last week's to do list still got finished.
Last Sunday's post noted just how out of it I felt during most of last week. Saturday allowed for a reset and I managed to get back up to speed on a number of things, including last week's to do list.
To Do List for 07/09/2024
1. 2023 SAHRR: Finish binding ✔
2. Kates' Choice: Continue making blocks ✔
3. Guild BOM: Finish June block, start July block ✔
4. Wild and Goosey: Finish blue blocks, start teal blocks ✔
5. Indigo Way: Finish setting triangles, start assembly ✔
I'm 5 for 5 for last week, a definite improvement over ...
read moreIt's been a whirl wind couple of days. We went to Texas to visit Grad Girl for the 4th of July weekend. We had planned to stay till Monday to avoid the homeward bound traffic from 4th of July. Those plans changed when they issued tropical storm warnings for Brazos county due to Beryl. We had a serious rethink and left late Sunday afternoon to drive to Dallas. It's pretty flat in that part of the state and it doesn't take much for parts of the roads to flash flood, so it just seemed wise to avoid ...
read moreThe end of June marks the end of the 2nd quarter for 2024. It's a good time to check in how I'm doing on my quilting ambitions (goals) for the year. My quilting goals are much like my work goals used to be. I'd write up the goals at the beginning of the year and then forget about them. At work, my supervisor would schedule a midyear goal review, I'd look at them just before the meeting and inevitably there would be one or two goals I'd forgotten about completely. My quilting goals are pretty ...
read moreHard to believe that we've already passed the half way mark on the year. June was busy with lots of non sewing stuff, so though I managed to keep up with my stitching time, there's no progress in my PHD Report.
No new starts, so that's a positive. But no new finishes. Even so there was good progress towards making that happen in July.
My second oldest UFO was moved along and underwent a name change as well. What started as the Grandmother's Choice quilt along with Barbara Brackman is now Kate's Choice as I ...
read moreWe had heavy rains with strong winds over the weekend, followed by high humidity which has made it just miserable to be outside. I had to run errands a couple of days last week and came home needing naps afterwards. I'm pretty sure one day I got dehydrated and just felt crappy for most of the day. All that to say, I didn't make as much progress on my to do list as I had hoped.

read moreIt was nice to be home and be back in my sewing room for the week. Summer has truly taken hold and it's far to hot to do much outside. At least that's my justification for all the sewing room time last week. There was some good progress on the second oldest project.
Another 4 blocks are up on the design wall and 2 more are under construction at the sewing machine.
Just 9 blocks left to finish the planned layout. Once the blocks are done, it will be time to spend some time practicing how to quilt ...
read moreI didn't post a to do list for last week since I was at the conference for the week and then knew I'd be at Grad Girl's cat sitting over the weekend. There was some progress on the to do list from the 11th before the long drive to Texas.
