a repeat stitcher . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

What a great weekend I enjoyed in Hendersonville, TN!  We went up early Thursday morning for a Lifeway Women's Leadership event.  Three days packed full of fabulous speakers, great teaching, encouragement, fellowship and fun.  But whew!  I was worn out.  Hence my slow stitching post didn't get written for yesterday, and that's a shame, because I have some fun stitchy stuff to share!  So Monday it is.  ;)

Ellie (oldest granddaughter) had shown some interest in embroidery.  For Christmas two years ago I gifted her with a sampler kit that I put together for her.  Once we started ...

grand ol' time . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

So with a crew far away in California, and a crew kinda doing their own thing this year, Todd and I just chilled (on the boat on the lake) and let the pictures of the good times roll in! First, I had delivered the placemats for the local crew . . .
I got a good one of the girls (well, two of them ... Evey had a headache that evening, poor dear) and a good one of the placemats.  So you get to see them both.

Before I get too far into the Halloween antics, let me also remark that first and foremostly ...

celebrate on . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I may have shared that I give as much time as my birthday wants to be celebrated. A week where you only work two days and have the next five free is as good a time to continue celebrating as any! I gave a whole post to the Tate Farms fun, but I'll condense the remainder of the long weekend here. Mostly.  I think.

Thursday, the weather continued to be beautiful, and since a wet, cool front was moving in on Friday, our regular boat day, Todd and I decided to go ahead and get our lake action in ...

let the festivities commence . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It's BIRTHDAY weekend!!  Hip, hip!!  The fun started Thursday evening when I pulled up and there were two beautiful planters of my favorite fall flowers . . .
MUMS!  Aren't they pretty?  Todd knows me so well!

Friday we hit the lake around 11:30.  Even the fish must have known it was my birthday weekend! I actually pulled out my pole (Todd was catching them hand over fist, so to speak) and I did well.
I caught about eight (to Todd's twenty, but who's counting?).  Mine were GOOD sized!
The heron even squawked out a birthday greeting.  ;)

Saturday ...

october's here . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Got an update on June this week; she saw her shadow . . .
. . . four more weeks in the cast. But this time she got a pretty bright blue one!  And a side trip to the San Diego zoo!  Sweet girl.  She's handling it all very well.  She is getting a little antsy.  She misses her gymnastics!

Also got an update on this sweet kiddo . . .
Pictured here celebrating getting two parts in The Nutcracker! One is a solo dance (one of the gift toys in the early scene of the Christmas party) and the second is a group dance as one of ...

all the things . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Remember that cute Halloween fabric I got a couple of weeks ago??
Really cute, right??  Guess what I found out on accident . . .
It GLOWS IN THE DARK!!!  Is that not the best?  You know what that means?
It means I went back and got MORE!  Haha!  And as per usual, I found something else I *needed* while I was there.

Joc sent me this photo during the week . . .
Ezra's little bed, all ready for little Ezra!  The pillow sham turned out so sweetly!

I've been so puzzled trying to figure out why, of my two hanging pots of ...

Lessons Learned from From the Strawberry Patch...

This is what school looked like this year, not only for Gregory, but for all four of our grandchildren; they all participated in what's known as Virtual Academy for this '20-'21 school year. They're lucky, both our daughter and our daughter-in-law have been present and committed to overseeing their online school days and helping them to develop skills in focus, independence and self-sufficiency.

Going On, Growing On... from From the Strawberry Patch...

You may remember that I began this perennial garden, located just outside of my sewing room, two years ago. I've had some good luck, some bad luck and have learned a TON along the way! So, two years later, I have a lovely and peaceful space that is filling in and providing much enjoyment. I have moved, dug up and transplanted many things, all part of the learning curve. I'm rewarded with the

fun days . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Not a lot going on in the Nook these past two weeks.  We've got Campers on Mission in the camp for their annual work.  This year they've been working on a new bathhouse for the camp.  It's so exciting watching it come together . . .
Isn't that great?!  They've worked so hard for these last two weeks.  I am so excited for the benefit this adds to the camp! ♥  Speaking of the camp, one of the COM wives knew I sewed/quilted, and look what she made me:
Awesome, right?  That was so kind of her to ...

Homecoming quilt from Quilting and More...

It’s finished! Yay! Homecoming is a design from Lo & Behold Stitchery. I’d previously made another of the designs from this site, and the technique is interesting; different strips are combined in varying combinations and then cut into blocks of various sizes and shapes. It’s not always obvious where you’re going as you’re making the blocks, […]

Time Out! from From the Strawberry Patch...

Yesterday's post about Gregory finishing up his Star Wars quilt was only accompanied by a few photographs. There was no shortage of them, choosing which ones to post was the hardest. Gregory is high energy and taking breaks, frequently, was part of the strategy to get everything done. At one point I happened to look up and realized that there was a standoff occurring on the cutting table! I

New Year, New Quilter from From the Strawberry Patch...

Gregory and his Star Wars quilt topOur two local grandchildren have had an extra week off from school this week. Gregory (and his sister) spent the day with us yesterday and helped us to un-decorate the house. There's something about packing away the trees and all the decorations that makes everything look so bare and wide-open; it's sort of a clean sweep and re-examination of spaces that, just

Smarter Than Me! from From the Strawberry Patch...

And, just like that, Christmas is a memory; a most happy one for us thanks to these four.Santa brought a new television for my sewing room. That purchase necessitated the removal of this big, hulking, heavy television out of it's custom-made cubby where it's been living, happily, for many years; it was blissfully unaware that technology advancements were rocketing by, (as was its owner) leaving
