End of June & a Winner from Heart Desire Creations

Industrious wouldn’t exactly describe my quilting progress this past month. There have been some big house chores, like power washing, and truthfully, I have been in a relaxed mode with my sewing this past month.  There’s surprisingly has been quite a bit of progress, though.  I got a quilt back from the long armer and did get it bound.  I’ve been working on a quilt for our bed – bigger than I usually do and although I love it and it’s exactly what I’ve wanted, it’s a bit boring (all 3 1/2″ squares). I ...

My Pot of Gold & A Giveaway! from Heart Desire Creations

img_1371Several years ago, more like many years ago, I started collecting metallic fabrics. Many had an Asian theme and I loved them.  It took me a couple of years to decide, but finally I decided to do a hexagon star pattern.  I cut the hexagons on my Sizzix – I cut, and cut, and cut.  Rather than cut the individual triangles, I sewed the hexies to strips of fabric and then trimmed.

I found this black with gold dots fabric and a friend suggested that I scatter a few black stars about. Had to admit – a good idea.  It also meant ...

Name this Quilt Survey and Give Away!!! from Butterfly Threads

This is one of my latest quilts that I am ready to release a pattern for but I have no name for it yet! It is made from two different blocks, both of which have four patches in them. It also features fun corners that have portions of the blocks extending into the borders.

I made this quilt from two Lori Holt bundles and yardage. I love the bright colors and the fun design the blocks create when arranged this way. Not only are there tiny four patch trails running in circles, but there are large crosses stretching from corner ...

A Finish and A Winner! from Heart Desire Creations

9B393F23-1B7C-4021-AFF7-2054D8B076DC (Large)

Yes! Another Hospice finish.  This quilt top was done when I was first quilting. I found it in the bottom of a bin and finished it for a Hospice – perfect lap sized quilt. My hope is that the lavender will bring calm and peace to the recipient. I really, really like the backing fabric.

Love the Birds – Great Outdoors Blog Hop and Giveaway from Heart Desire Creations

An Island Batik AdventureGreat Outdoors Blog Hop

“The Great Outdoors” – what a broad subject! Hubby and I do love the great outdoors. we walk, hike, bike ride, and kayak.  The heat of the summer, however, doesn’t agree with us for such activities and we do spend a great deal of time on our screened porch enjoying the great outdoors of our yard. We have lots of plantings, live among the trees and have a LOT of birdhouses.  Several bird couples have moved in at different times this season, had babies and have now relocated.  Several bird feeders and a bird bath keep ...

How to Make a Quilt Sleeve using Prairie Points! from "...laugh yourself into *Stitches*, follow me..." ~Shakespeare~

If you've not tried this sleeve method...it's worth a look!

Begin with an 8-1/2" square (can be less depending on the size of the quilt or hanging).

Place the raw edge of the triangles along the edge of the quilt.

Sew less than 1/4" from the edge, so the binding will cover your stitching!

Once the Prairie Point Triangles are sewn into place, take a tacking stitch to secure each point.  Slip your rod behind the Prairie Points to hang.

It's that easy!!!

More of the new Star Spangled Picnic quilt getting some feathery ...

Ah, December! from Ravelly1

Sorry, no photos in this post. I'm here to talk about the last month of the year in Texas. It's been about 15 or so years since I've purchased a winter coat. In fact, I can't find and don't remember the color of the last one. I'm saying this because it has gotten cold around the farm all of a sudden.
I'm sure you've all heard, just wait a few minutes for the weather to change here in Texas!!! Well, it did, from 75 degrees the other day to 38 degrees with ...
