Catch Up of Other Activities! from The Modern Diary

I went to the Strong Tower Gaming Convention this year. It was super fun. I stayed in the hotel with Ashley and Miranda. I was super tired by Sunday, but really enjoyed the experience!

I attended my either online Zoom Retreat with the Booktube Besties. It is more fun every time! So nice now that my entire book club (created several retreats ago from retreat people) also was there and we all chat on the side and really have a blast!

I also really wanted to see VE Schwab so I bought a ticket to see her online. She was ...

My Birthday! from The Modern Diary

For my birthday Kathy got me flowers and a game I really wanted (and am still waiting for) called Eternal Decks. She also watched the girls so Hannah and Jeremy and I could go to Beyond the Board and play games again.

First we played Fort! We loved it so much I bought it the next day at Noble Knights (and the kids bought one for my birthday and had to keep it too!). Taught it to Kathy later and she likes it too!

After that we played Ra. I liked this one though I do not think it could ...

Old Town Quiltville Mystery and More from The Modern Diary

Just wanted to share the game gifts I crafted for my honorary daughter who lives in Norway. Rachel is very appreciative of anything I send her but mailing to Norway is EXPENSIVE. I sent her a quilt last year and it was almost 90 dollars to mail it (nevermind what it would cost for fabric, time, and longarming if I did the math). This tiny box had what is pictured along with one books sleeve with "Harris and Me" in it and cost $33.00 to send. They may have had to pay to pick it up to as they ...

The Test of Time from From the Strawberry Patch...

Once a month, our church hosts a gathering for Young Women/Mothers to socialize, study God's word and enjoy snacks. I've been helping out with the children during these times (seriously believing that I get the best end of the deal!); playing games and supervising outdoor play. I've been digging deep into the game closet at home for new(!) different and exciting ways to occupy their time and

Odds & Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

We went away for the weekend so this post will have some of everything. I did some crochet in the car. this is Red Heart All in One Granny Square. This is one of those love/hate yarns. It may take some practice to get the square to come out perfectly.

We went to New Jersey and attended DexLite by Double Exposure. This gaming convention is a great way to try out new games and play old favorites with like-minded people. Everyone gets a set of dice at check-in and I picked these.

The hotel had a pride display up ...

Indigo Way Clue 4 and Two Mystery Flimsies Come Together! from The Modern Diary

I participated in the game exchange this year in one of my facebook groups (I missed it last year) and am thrilled to finally own Wingspan! I cannot wait to play it. Thanks Secret Santa!

Kathy hung a clothesline up high in my sewing room! Super excited to have some of my little quilts on display. I have two drape rods hung (one in bedroom and one in living room) and I change out the table topper size quilts by season on both of those. I also use seasonal table runners and table toppers, but I still have many small ...

Game Night: Marvel United from Becca's Crazy Projects

This past weekend we had friends over for dinner and games. We plated a couple games but this was the one with the best art. This is the She Hulk character.

The game is Marvel United. We've played it a few times. Each time we seem to pick the wrong heroes once or twice before we can manage to beat the big bad. On this occasion I think we failed twice and decided to change games.

The Best Diversions from From the Strawberry Patch...

We've had some diversions from our normal routines this week, the best kind, an overnight visit from these two. Since they're currently being home schooled we were able to take an active part in that and even added some enrichment activities as well! At break time we played a rip-roaring game of Sequence and took a field trip to a local park for some exercise, fresh air and sunshine; the weather

Game Vault from Becca's Crazy Projects

What is a game vault? It is a thing that gamers want. Role playing gamers. Board gamers. Gamer geeks of many types. A fully built game table can cost thousands of dollars. And I don't mean just a couple thousand. Some tables can run more than $10,000.00. I don't have the budget, or burning desire for such a table. I do however have some minor skills and math ability. During my research into the subject, I came across a cheaper option that anyone can make with some hand tools. I got this great idea from The ...

Do You Wordle? from From the Strawberry Patch...

This is my latest morning routine: as the water is boiling for a cup of tea I pull up Wordle on my phone and attempt to solve the puzzle of the day. It's a great way to sweep out the cobwebs of sleep and jumpstart my thinking for the day to come. The best part of this is the ability to share the results electronically, I play along with our daughter and oldest grandson. Once I've solved the

Merry Mayhem Mystery Prep and More! from The Modern Diary

Hannah (and Jeremy) loved the Pine Tree Point RSC quilt they got for Christmas. Hannah gave me some fun stuff too. A book and a mug that were on my list--I have read all but four or five of the books on this mug so I plan to read the rest this year. I just need to get my hands on them.

Yesterday I finished clue four of R Trail. Lots of counting and recounting happened in order to get to this point, but done!

I completed my book challenge scratch off for the year.

RT Gets a Start! from The Modern Diary

I quilted and bound both of Hazel's doll quilts. They have unicorn fabric on the back.

Reading a lot still. I found this one annoying though I did want to know how it ended. In its defense, it is a YA. I do not plan to read book two!

We went to Hannah and Jeremy's for Thanksgiving. I brought and made my turkey and wine gravy, and completed pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll. My ex hubby and his sister (and her hubby) and one grown daughter (my goddaughter) and her boyfriend came too. We played Bang! afterwards and ...

Quilt Camp, Day #2 from From the Strawberry Patch...

Today's Quilt Camp session saw great great progress in the quilt block count! One of Lynnleigh's most frequently asked questions today was: "how many blocks do I have done now and how many more do I need?" She sewed up a storm and loved arranging her warm, freshly-pressed blocks on the design wall. I'm very proud of her can-do attitude! For the second day, we followed the same format as the day

Geese on a String and Holiday Happenings! from The Modern Diary

Geese on a String progress happened between Grassy Creek Clues.

Bug had to pose with the first few rows.

And the flimsy is complete.

My November book box finally arrived and I read it right away. Still waiting on December and sadly, the advent box too.

Gudrun Erla did a video on December 15th for these Woven Heart ornaments, which remind me of Norway so I bought the supplies and had to make a few. This year only the kids and my Goddaughter will get one, next year maybe more folks. They are fun to make!

Mysteries and More Mysteries from The Modern Diary

These are my fabric choices for Grassy Creek along with the cards I am using them for of Bonnie's. So where she has orange I have dark blue, etc. I went with what I have though I LOVE her colors this year.

Clue one is all ready except I should trim the dog ears off tonight. Next clue comes out tomorrow already! I love this time of year as I have so much to sew and have a high motivation to do it. With my fatigue it is nice to feel PULLED out of bed even for awhile.

Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

This week has been a week of things but not so much doing things. My Kickstarter copy of Dwellings of Eldervale came. It isn't like I'll be having any friends over soon so I have plenty of time to learn the rules.

I put the twelve blocks for my kit on the design wall. There will be so much piecing of sashing and cornerstones, and so on for this one. Full update next Monday.

And my copy of Escape Pod's year fifteen anthology(affiliate link) arrived. I actually bought two copies of this one so someone might ...
