Moving Along from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. More than expected was accomplished in the sewing room yesterday. I was home from my pedicure just after noon, and that left me with the remainder of the day for sewing. Of course, I couldn't leave in the morning without spending some time with my slow-stitching. This is Tiny Treasure #15.

One per day seems to be my limit for the time being.

When I got home, I went to work quilting the sashing for the Whimsical Garden. This is the motif I found on Pinterest. It looked easy enough for even a quilting simpleton ...

Progress on Two Fronts from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Our good sewing weather continues. Read that: It's raining. It means plenty of time in the sewing room, for sure. We had our usual bout of Sunday evening cabin fever, and so we went out for dinner last night. If it weren't for grocery shopping and Sunday evenings out, we might become complete shut-ins.

Yesterday's morning stitching had me finishing up the first of twelve Tiny Treasures. This one has stem stitch, lazy daisy, and French knots.

From there, I took a walk on the treadmill, and did a little bit of housework ...

Full Force Fall from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy day yesterday. During the presidential campaign, I was amused when Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania said, "My team is guided by three letters every single day: G-S-D." And, if you missed that, he spelled it out..."Getting sh*t done." When I can cross everything off a day's to-do list, I announce it to Mike: "I got sh*t done today." Admittedly, I didn't start sewing together the Merry, Merry Snowmen yesterday, but I got a lot of other stuff done.

First, I finished off My Embroidered Garden.

Lots of Stitching from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a good day of sewing yesterday. In addition to my progress on the Whimsical Garden quilt, My Embroidered Garden is nearly complete, and I finished up the little gift I'm making for a friend. Let's start with the embroidery, shall we?

Possibly I could have finished this yesterday, but it would have meant spending more time than I had to spare. I expect I'll finish this this morning.

From there, I quilted the next row of blocks for the Whimsical Garden. I love all this color when the days are so ...

Whimsical Quilting from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy sewing day yesterday. I managed to finish off my "Motion" challenge, and then I had time to quilt the first row of the Whimsical Garden quilt.

My sewing started with embroidery, as always. But then I moved to hand-stitching the binding for the "Motion" project. It was a small quilt, but I'm sure it was easier to stitch with the help of my trusty stitching cat.

Smitty rested nearby in case his help was needed. Shift work, you know.

In short order, my quilt was finished. Here's your final peek ...

Sashiko Reveal: Mermie's Cabin from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The day has come to reveal my newest art quilt for The Endeavourers art quilt group. Our prompt this time around was "Sashiko." If you're unfamiliar with sashiko, the word is Japanese for "little stabs." Wikipedia defines it in this way:

[A] type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching used for the decorative and/or functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing. Owing to the relatively cheap nature of white cotton thread and the abundant nature of cheap, indigo-dyed blue cloth in historical Japan, sashiko has a distinctive appearance of white-on-blue embroidery, though some decorative pieces ...

Binding Times Two from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, it was going to be a bad day for Smitty. He had an appointment with the vet. The kitties are pretty amazing in their ability to detect even the slightest of changes to our morning routine. When I went downstairs from writing yesterday's post, I found them like this:

They're up to something, Smitty. I just know it.

Sure enough. Curses!!!

I will keel you!

Happily, it was a quick visit. I'd forgotten that both kitties got health check-ups last spring because we needed documentation to ...

Ready for Binding from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing fast again this morning. Poor Smitty has to go to the vet. It's his annual check-up, and he's due for some vaccines. We'll load him up in a little while. He won't be a happy camper. I've also noticed he's kind of lethargic on a day when he has his vaccines. Poor guy. Except for being alive, he did nothing to deserve such harsh treatment.

Before heading out to the grocery store yesterday, I took the first stitches on July's block for A Year in the ...

On the Border from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a mostly sunny day yesterday. Like us, the kitties were suffering from cabin fever after so many days of heavy rain. They were champing at the bit to get outside.

Inside, I finished off the 2nd block of Home is Where My Flock Is. These are fun to stitch.

Here are the two blocks I have for this quilt so far.

After that, I took a walk on the treadmill, and then got to work on my quilting. The straight-line diagonal grid is finished now. All that remains is to quilt the two borders ...

Prep Work from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had another day of rain...some wind, but not as much as we expected. Mike tells me the storm came at us from the south. Since we're just over the crest of our hill on the north side of the mountain, we had a bit of shelter from the wind. Once again, Sadie gave an excellent demonstration on how to spend a wet and windy day. She is an expurrt at this.

My morning was spent in the usual way...with a little slow-stitching.
