Quilt Your City on Pillows from Gefilte Quilt


Out of wall space? How about making some quilted pillows?

I might not have thought of this, if I hadn't been asked. A neighbor saw my pandemic porch quilt show (the subject of my last several blog posts), and commissioned me to make four 18" pillows, including two with scenes from our town, South Pasadena, which is part of Los Angeles. We negotiated a price and a backing color - grey - and I was off. It took about two weeks, and here they are.

Pandemic Porch Quilt Show Days 25-28 : Over Japan from Gefilte Quilt

 Day #25: Tokyo Life

I made this quilt in 1999, a cathartic project working through memories of living in Japan for a year and a half, in the early 1980s.
Tokyo was indescribably dense, and everything seemed tinier than in the US - cars, furniture, cups, plates, clothes, and especially the people. Most of the women and many of the men were smaller than me - I felt like a massive Barney the Dinosaur, especially when perched on ludicrously petite chairs. Two Finishes, Two UFOs from Quilt Talk

Halloween is just 10 days away; this UFO needs a border and a finish STAT!
My first on point project.  It won't be for sale -  it'll be made by Chris for Chris.
