The Florida Project from The Snarky Quilter

I have packed an art project every time we’ve spent a few winter weeks in Florida. Last year it was assorted fabric strips and my sewing machine that produced four small quilts. Years before that I took hand stitching projects that resulted in the embroidered squares of “Every Which Way” and “Torii Traces.

“Torii Traces” 2016

To change it up on this trip I took materials for making collages. Of course I had the exciting task of sewing down all those wool felt squares, but that was mindless work. Because I didn’t want to harm the furnishings at ...

In Search of Sunshine from From the Strawberry Patch...

We took a little drive last week in an effort to escape to the sunshine and some warmer temperatures; we found both! It was a quick trip; and, believe it or not, I scarcely can, there wasn't even ONE quilt shop stop along the way. I'm not sure what that says about me,

Getting Warmer from The Snarky Quilter

Just after Christmas my husband and I headed south to Fort Myers, Florida, for a stay at my brother in law’s condo. After enduring lots of traffic bottlenecks (no, not that one in Virginia thank goodness) we arrived to temperatures … Continue reading

WON'T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR? from Kwilty Pleasures

Meet Marilyn Byerly...she is many things.
A wife, daughter, sister, god-mother, hospice nurse,
educator, music lover, thrift store shopper, former neighbor
and most of all my friend.

We have been friends for a very long time!
I haven't worn glasses for years!

Our spouses, Phil and Tom also good friends.
They enjoyed the scenery at Fort Myers Pier
and it had nothing to do with the ocean view!

A trip downtown found a rooftop bar...
under construction.

For 9 years Tom and Marilyn were our Ohio neighbors.
I met them at their yard sale...where 'classical music'
greeted ...

21 Parrots from Nestlings By Robin

I am guessing there were at least that many!!

They are here most of the year and
you can hear them fly over very loudly.
Usually I see anywhere from 3-8
together at one time but
on this day, there were gobs of them
all chirping away.

Plus they were right up close and I
had NO idea how big they are...
at least a foot long.
All this time I have imagined
they were more like the parakeet size
in the pet stores.
A quick google search found
Nanday Parakeet...??
They did look like the one on

Sun and Fun Trip Part 2 from Pebble Creek Arts

We spent two days walking around in the hot sun in Florida in April. It was very interesting and there was more to see than we could actually get around to in the two days.

There was a car show near the entrance on the Sunday.

There were a lot of vendor booths both days. Tesla was even there.

And, of course, there were loads of airplanes.

And then there was the air show itself. Here is a quick clip.

I really did enjoy this trip. I ...
