A New Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Mike and I were up and at 'em this morning. It was warm yesterday. We ran our A/C for the first time this year. We turned it off last night, and it was cool enough, but neither of us slept very well. I don't know about you, but I like cocooning under the weight of the covers. If I can't have the covers over me, I don't sleep as well. In any case, we enjoyed this morning's pretty sunrise.

A Welcome Day Off from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was good to give myself a day off yesterday. Trying to talk myself into hoeing the garden, I took a walk around. The garden could have used a good hoeing, but I decided it could wait until this morning too. It feels like ages since I've had nothing on my to-do list, and so I grabbed at the opportunity with gusto.

As long as I was out, I took a few pictures of what's going on outside right now. Cherries continue to ripen, but they’re not ready yet. I expect we’ll ...

First Full Day of Summer from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to Summer...that is, if you're here in the northern hemisphere. Sorry about you southern hemisphere folks. On the other hand, maybe you're happy for some cooler weather. In any case, James Taylor...you take it from here.

Summer's here, I'm for that
I got my rubber sandals, got my straw hat
I got my cold beer, I'm just glad that I'm here

Summer's here, that suits me fine
It may rain today 'cause I don't mind
It's my favorite time of the year and ...

Exhausting Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Before I say anything else, I should say that I'm feeling significantly better today. Most of yesterday morning was spent at urgent care. I like that they have a section on their website that allows you to insert yourself into the line before you leave home. There was no one in the waiting room when I arrived, and so it didn't matter, but it's still a nice feature. They gave me a second nebulizer treatment while I was there, and they sent me home with a portable nebulizer machine so that I can ...

Late Post from ... Cat Patches

Good afternoon, my friends. I'm slow on the switch this morning, but I have a good excuse. A whole lot of water has passed under the bridge in the last 24 hours. Mike had his second cataract surgery yesterday afternoon. We got lunch afterward. Then this morning we were up at the butt crack of dawn to see the doctor for his post-op appointment. We got breakfast afterward. I started a load of clothes before we left home this morning, and the last load is washing as I'm writing. There are a couple of easy housekeeping chores on ...

The Best of Times, The Worst of Times from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Don't let that title scare you. We're back to what passes for normal around here if, by normal, you're talking about controlled chaos. But that's beside the point. I just want to say straight out that there's nothing to worry about. The worst is all in the past. I have a lot to tell you this morning, and a lot of pictures to show you. If you're planning to read to the end, now would be a good time to refill your coffee cup. And if you're not planning ...

Long List from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy day yesterday. There's still a little bit more to do before we can take off on our camping trip, but most of it is finished. The kitties are staying home this trip. They're too short to look through the telescopes that will be on site, and so they decided not to come. They've been given strict orders: No wild purrties and no loud mewsic.

My day started with hoeing the garden. It was the thing I least wanted to do, and so I did that first. Everything is looking ...

My Day in Court from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Before we go even one word further, I feel I must point out that today is

Have you hugged your cat today?

As expected, I had almost no time for sewing yesterday. I managed to stitch Tiny Treasure #57. This one has stem stitch, stem fill, lazy daisy, and French knots.

Checking the forecast, I noted rain was supposed to start in about an hour from when I finished that. I decided to hurry out and replant the sprouted bean seeds. Happily, more have sprouted from the original planting. It seems the crows didn't get ...

Facing the Music from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Today comes the "find out" part of my recent FAFO actions. (Google it, if you don't know.) It's the day I go to court over my recent speeding ticket. There's no whining or making excuses on my part. I'm just hoping for a reduction in the fine if I throw myself on the mercy of the court. What form do you think this should take? Should I writhe on the ground for a while? Would kicking and screaming be ill-advised? Probably I should wait and read the room before making any rash ...

Summery Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The Summer Solstice is still a couple of weeks away, but it sure felt like summer yesterday. I took time in the morning to stitch Tiny Treasure #55. This one has stem stitch, stem fill, basketweave stitch, and straight stitch.

From there, I headed outside to check on the flowers. There were just four poppies this year. The poppies are biannuals, but I’ve been getting flowers from them every year. I’m not sure why this year was so skimpy. There was one other, in addition to the three in the image below. It got ...
