I had the great pleasure earlier this year to work on a set of custom designs for A.A. These two patterns were developed from photos I took at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI and local parade photos and from armed services publications on uniforms. I think you’ll agree her resulting fabric rendition is exceptional. Happy Independence Day ! I am grateful to those who have served and are currently serving.
Hubby with his latest purchase. Something called a Spyder which is three wheeled and has power steering. I'm filing this under...you only live once! He rides mid week with a group of similarly vintage drivers who ride the back roads and take all the precautions. I really don't worry about him...that much.
In the tall woods, I spied this little fellow. The ears gave him away. The weather is unsettled and moody...humidity, slivers of sun, lots of cloud, rain, thunder, lightening- that's all in one day! We've had two thunder and lightening storms since the big one. I admit I felt a little uneasy each time and was glad to be home and not driving somewhere when they occurred. And relieved when they faded away.
But the Bridal Wreath Spirea is thriving. This is summer #2 for this bush. I'm so pleased. It's also Painted Turtle heaven down at the pond. Photo from last year but ditto for now. I've ...

Robbie was with us for a PA day and we did a walkabout and count. There are five blocking our trails. SIL will get the chain saw out and help us clear them. Perhaps more firewood for next winter too.
I made a large pot of -I don't know what to call it- ground beef, onions, tinned tomatoes, cabbage, corn and carrots all cooked together with a little broth. Sort of a stew I guess. It was tasty and I added a couple of the wild garlic that has just ripened. Being me, I made enough for the whole street, so the first night I cooked rice to go with it and the second night, mashed potatoes. I'm ridiculously happy when I make enough of something to cover two meals.
I had as my May one monthly goal, an older ufo. I have no idea how to finish this little quilt. I have procrastinated and procrastinated. That is why I am making it my one monthly goal or I will never see this finished.
Maybe now that the thread is cut and the needle is threaded I can make a little progress on it ...
read moreI got my hair cut and it really wasn't that bad. The salon was just fancy enough if you know what I mean. I love how so many buildings in the closest town downtown are updated versions of the old fashioned original buildings.
I have no idea how to finish this little quilt. I have procrastinated and procrastinated. That is why I am making it my one monthly goal or I will never see this finished. Every time I think about it, the sun wasn't in the right place, or the wind was all wrong for me to do it. I have been waiting for the perfect conditions and they aren't going to happen. I started this English paper piecing project on an airplane going to and from visiting my daughter. It has been awhile.

My research of one site showed this was a Thanksgiving cactus. Because it bloomed at Easter, I thought it might be one programmed for spring, but no. I couldn't remember the colour of the original plant, but turns out this is pink. The Geranium there is also budding.
I don't like change! How about you?
It took me a while (as I'm sure it did you) to settle into a Covid way of life and find a level of contentment in what I could safely function. Now it seems I have to reverse engines and go back the other way. The question is how far back do I want to go?
As things would have it, an official diagnosis of arthritis in my back last week will be a factor in my return to "normal" (whatever that is?). It's been suspected for several years and ...

I have started spinning one Sunday a month. The idea was to decide if it was time to let this hobby go, including all the stuff that goes with it. I have ...

On the left is my prize fat quarter. I am not sure why I grabbed the bright green piece, but it is nice and bright. I have a weakness for floral that I hope to do a floral quilt someday. And, 2 different quilters brought me their waste triangles. One time, I pulled a triangle from the ...

Monday is a public holiday here and in many of the Canadian provinces, Family Day. It's a day for families to take a midwinter rest or get outside and enjoy winter fun together. This year there are lots of planned activities. We will be dog sitting as daughter and family take a little overnight trip.
Love these faces...mother Abbey with her offspring, Petey and Ned. These Labradors love the snow.
The family was here last Sunday for snowmobiling. They all had a great time. Both the grandsons were here.Thank you all for the ideas on how to prevent Miss White Polka Dot Plant from becoming leggy. Top idea was to pinch her back. Which I now have done.
We enjoyed a takeout dinner and a little treat from daughter for Valentine's Day.
And we joked that this was what I got for Valentine's...I've been wanting one of these for years after seeing it at Daughter's house. I used it right away and loved it. No, it wasn't for Valentine's. Amazon just happened to deliver it on the day. read moreRemember last week I was so happy that I didn't bring 4 fat quarters home from goodwill? It’s time to share a cuppa with a friend. If you are in a location that’s at the point of opening up after these two years of covid, make that date! Finally! If it’s not yet time, piece this charming mouse and give it to your friend instead as a biggish mug rug. This mouse $7.50 pattern makes a 10″ x 10″ square, or any size, as you can easily scale this up or down .
This mousie is based on lovely illustrations by Ellie Snowden. Search her out or ...
