A Whirlwind Week from From My Carolina Home

Seems like it has been a crazy busy week. How can this be when it is mostly spent at home? A lot is due to just having a bit of warmer weather, and getting a bit of cabin fever to dig in the dirt. We went on a drive to map out a route for a MINI club drive and had a delicious barbeque lunch in Dillsboro. My Sweet Babboo brought me a surprise this week. He thought I needed some fresh flowers for the kitchen and table. He chose this lovely bouquet of alstroemeria in a mostly green color ...

Trendy Table 3 Preview – Part 2 from Trends and Traditions

I’m back to finish the preview of my newest book, Trendy Table 3. In case you missed it, you can find the first part of the preview here.

First up, the Summertime Picnic Runner.

This runner finishes at 17″ x 44″. The center of the runner uses 5″ squares and the watermelon is made with fat eighths. The watermelon wedges do require the use of an included template, my Triangler ruler or this ruler by Creative Grids.

The featured fabric is my Shades of Summer collection from Riley Blake Designs that came out last summer. You can pick up ...

Mid Week Check In from Humble Quilts

How's everyone doing? Winter has come to Central Oregon! More snow and very cold temps are the name of the game right now.

I picjked up this lovely lady in Ohio several years ago.

I love everything about her! I had my friend, Kat, send it because there was no way I could check it or carry her on. She was worth it!

I don't get to see my daughter often enough, especially with the covid bs. She is a hairdresser and is being responsible about exposure and she gets the same from her clients. We were able ...

November Wrap-Up from From the Strawberry Patch...

Here it is, the last day of November. The family's been and gone, the turkey's been eaten and all of my Thanksgiving decor has been stashed away until next year. I have swapped out the dishes for my Winter plates in the kitchen and tomorrow, December the first, the true Christmas decorating will begin  here at Chez Goodneedle. I have watched Christmas go up a lot earlier this year, in our

Autumn Quilts for Decorating from From My Carolina Home

I’ve been doing autumn theme quilts since my early days of quilting.  The second quilt I ever did was a huge, oversized king with tossed leaves on a beige background.  One of the three borders has uneven numbers of flying geese on each side.  It was only the second quilt I had entered into competition and I won my first ribbon with it.  I called it Autumn Breeze.

It is quilted with a swirly design pantograph (by someone else) that gives the feeling of wind.  It won an honorable mention for design.  And with that, I was hooked on ...

Welcome Autumn With a Little Bit of Fun from From My Carolina Home

Finally, we can welcome Autumn this week.  I loved the cooler temperatures this past weekend!  It was just the right time to show a few autumn inspired ideas for a bit of fun to lighten our lives seemed appropriate.  So often now, we have to make a effort to keep our spirits up and find a way to have fun while staying home.  Here are a few of my ideas, some from past projects.  This little Pumpkin Leaf Candle Mat was from Autumn Jubilee 2016.  Put it on the kitchen counter with a wonderful Autumn Wreath scented candle (if you ...

happy wednesday . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I'm going to start with the big news, right off the bat . . .
One.  Hundred.  Days.

Can you believe it?!?  How much stitching do you have to do in order to be ready for it? That's the million dollar question, isn't it?  LOL!

Late Sunday afternoon I finally sat down to stitch, but got distracted by a new TeaTime Holidays magazine . . .
Yeah, more Christmas! Though the first tea party they share is a Thanksgiving one! It justified having the pumpkin blondie with my mug of pumpkin spice tea.

I combated Monday work blues by 'fallifying" my office space ...

Hangin' with Harvey from From the Strawberry Patch...

There's a sameness to every day right now. Although I do try to keep to a normal (for me) schedule during these days-on-end of staying at home and quarantining- (getting up at 6, dressing for the day, morning walks, regular mealtimes, cleaning house on Fridays, ironing on Saturday mornings...) I dispensed with decorating the house for Easter this year. I can't remember ever NOT doing that

Brighten your Home – Easy Quilting Decor Projects from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

Admit it, there comes a time in every quilter’s journey where they have to step back and realize they have too many quilts. Fortunately for the quilting community as a whole, quilters are incredibly generous people who give with love and share their talents with friends and family, wrapping them in the warmth of their craft. Sometimes though it’s nice to make something for yourself, stitch in a little of your own creativity and create something that is positively and uniquely you.

Quilting doesn’t have to be limited to just quilts. There is a world of options ...

Winter White from From My Carolina Home

After the clutter of the autumn season, and Christmas, January is a time for scaling back, clearing the table, and cleaning up.  For many years now, I have decorated our home in all white for the first month of the new year.  I often say it is like a palate cleanser at the end of a rich meal, a way to take a rest from the abundant decorations of the holiday seasons.  This year, I pulled from items used in years past, setting the table with my everyday white stoneware and using the arrangement from last year in a new ...

Reflections and Traditions from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

Let the decorating begin!  I love to put my Christmas Village out every year, and create a magical fairyland.  I would love to live in this little village.  This is a first for me to put it up before Thanksgiving.  I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm running out of time already since Thanksgiving is so late this year.

I started collecting the houses in the 1980's.  The collection has grown over the years, and looks like a very realistic village.  My mom collected them and it was a great gift to ...

November Decorating with Quilts and Stitchery from From My Carolina Home

Decorating in the fall is my favorite time, I just love these colors.  This year I got out the Autumn inspired projects, and used them to decorate.  Did you know that all the patterns I do for the Autumn Jubilee events remain free on my blog forever?  I’ll show you a few of those in a moment.  First, though, since the color outside this year is a bit dull, I put my Scrap Dance Two Step quilt on the bench with a little pumpkin as a welcome.  I didn’t leave it there for long as I didn’t ...

Crabapple Branches Repurposed from Quilting Cafe's Brew

When my husband had to cut down our flowering crabapple tree, I grabbed some branches with the dried apples still on. Added LED lights from Joann's with brown floral tape and, voila, romantic low lights. Much more natural and interesting than those found in stores today. The lights are plug in which emit a copper glow. Note the vase; I made it in a freshman ceramics seminar in 1970 at Barat College.
