Yesterday 9×9 blocks were too busy, but this project file proves that it is worth making 81 blocks if they are the right blocks and the right contrast and colours.
I love both of these designs!

I love seeing the backs of quilts, and whole cloth quilts. This design is a compromise. Make a few blocks with a rather plain background, use lots more of the background to make the quilt bigger, and quilt in the blocks you couldn’t be bothered making!
I love the second design!

The last few days have been bright, but with clear blue skies there has been no protection from the cold … perhaps some bright colours will make me feel warmer.
Love the second design!

Small blocks, large quilt leaves lots of spaces to play with design, including some plain spaces for quilting to feature.
Lots of quilting, not a lot of tiny pieces.

I started this project file when quilters around the world were making Dear Jane quilts, using the same size blocks, but repeating block designs to create overall pattern rather than a sampler of a multitude of small block designs..
I like the second design.

Fifty three little applique blocks, plus lots of quilting, make a large quilt!
These designs were inspired by Dear Jane quilts, with lots and lots of little pieced blocks to make large quilts, but the blocks were all different designs. I thought it might be more interesting to make more of the each of the blocks so they could make a less scrappy looking quilt.
Lots more little blocks, all pieced this time, and still lots of room for quilting.
I love both of these even though they are very different.

Lots of little blocks equals lots of design possibilities!
I love the second design, but if I was going to make it, I would spend a lot of time swapping colours.

Smaller blocks means lots more piecing, but a lot of scope for playing with blocks to create interesting designs.
Also adds more variety to the quilting motifs based on the blocks.

The first design for the day is interesting, but the standout feature is the centre … it is made up of five pieced blocks and four plain squares, but looks like one block. Or perhaps I need another coffee this morning.
I like the second, but I think would like to see a few pieced blocks of colour in the corners.
Oops!
I was so well organised before I went to retreat I was several days ahead with scheduled posts … just as well I have plenty of spare virtual quilts, even if I have just enough to cover all the beds ...

When I added quilting motifs to the Dear, Dear, Dear project, I had to change the background for the quilting lines to show up clearly in Electric Quilt … and I like it!
Second design is interesting.
I like the last design, but I think my favourite of these three designs is the first one.
