I was having coffee with a friend the other day when he began a sentence with, “What I’ve learned from the pandemic…” Now this is a dear friend who also became very, very ill when the pandemic hit New York City, so much so that there were a few nights when it didn’t seem likely […]

This elephant was great to work on.
All ruler work, as you can see, except for a few bits of tusks & toes, a wrinkly nose, and a shaggy tail.
This was pieced by the same gal who did this Unicorn quilt.
It made me think of the crazy elephant jokes we heard on our honeymoon, from another honeymooning couple at Blue Mountain.
GARDENING
After crabbing about mending hubby's pants a few weeks ago, the Universe decided to even the score.
Uh huh. These are MY pants. Sigh.
Even though I've been sewing throughout the the pandemic, I haven't been blogging as much. I am not sure why, as I have always liked blogging as a way to connect to other quilters as well as keeping a journal of my quilting journey. I have talked to others who feel they got bogged down and weren't as productive as they could've been. I definitely have felt this way.
I started working on Fabrications in July. Using a block I designed and different colorizations of it, I played with layouts even though I had a general ...

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out the source… but regardless, the importance of punctuation. And now that many of… Continue reading Sh*t My Mother Sends Me & So Much More!

In addition, since most of us are not yet vaccinated, and the variant has hit the US, with death tolls from COVID at an all time high, I thought the perfect remedy… Continue reading Laughter and Humor During Troubling Times

In December I was interviewed by Gary Parr and Beth Ellicott for their podcast Fiber Talk, also available on their Youtube channel, Flosstalk. read moreWell, I have not been keeping up with what has been done in my world. Like everyone else, the Covid Virus has seriously limited activities. There were four quilt retreats that I attended which had limited attendance. It was so nice to see friends and sew with them.
Here are a few of the projects that were completed:
read moreI’ve been thinking about relationships a lot. Perhaps that’s because I’m coming up on my 20th wedding anniversary with this awesome man. Our relationship has seen its ups and downs, but we are committed to doing the hard work of showing up for each other no matter how painful and difficult that may be. As… Continue reading A Commitment to Show Up

Of course it helps that I’m married to a man whose DNA revealed he descends from Vikings and his grandmother hailed from County Clare. I’m a German/Swiss/Mayflower descendant. Years ago my husband, who is constantly hoping to catch sight of a UFO, and believes he will some day, came across acronyms that introduced… Continue reading And Now For Some Humor…
read moreI've been doing a bit of sewing lately and progress has been done on my newest project. All the hour glass blocks are done and now I'm working on the stars or wheels. I'm doing something outside the box and those stars are going to go right out into the border. I'm excited to see how this will turn out!

For the most part I am able to brush it off, keep going, keep stitching, keep designing, but there are other times when it all just feels like a massive punch to the gut. When is this ever… Continue reading The Pandemic & the Things That Unite Us

read moreWhat do you do with 480 HSTs? You zombie-sew them into these 15, six inch blocks! No plan yet for there future but they are DONE. Surprisingly most of them didn't need trueing up. I have no idea where they came from but I DO love the woodsy, earthy colors.
Also, good news during these Covid days. My hairdresser called ME to schedule a haircut tomorrow! Yeaaaaa - masks, small gatherings. This sad widow needs to feel human again. read more
Last week I wrote about “Business as Unusual.”
We are in uncharted waters. More of us are now under self-quarantine or shelter-in-place rules. Those of you who aren’t, you likely will be at some point. This is serious times.
Artists tend to look for ways they can help. As a quilter, I’ve seen the masses of textile folks make masks for hospitals and healthcare workers. You can find numerous resources online, particularly on YouTube. One resource I’ve found a good place to start is the page put together by artist, photographer, and writer Gloria Hansen. In addition ...
