UFO show n tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Last year, I decided that it was time for us to get our UFOs under control. Goodness knows that we all (OK - a lot of us) have the darn things!!!  I have several very large projects that I would really like to get out of the way. Once I get these larger ones out of the way (which at the rate I'm going will take years!), then some of those smaller ones with only piecing will go much faster!

Our UFO group met on Sunday to see how many of us got our homework done! Let's have a ...

Back to normal - almost.. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Things are almost back to normal. Two computer things left that I can think of. My email contact list is gone so I have to remake my groups and contacts. Shoot - I must remember in future to make a copy of that file and have it save on the external hard disk That's a bit of a bummer, but it can be recreated. That means that I have NO autofill for e-mail addresses. As I send out notices, the autofill will be recreated, but right now - it's a pain to send out e-mails!

The second thing - I tried ...

Happy Valentine's Day! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I was going to call this post "nasty things", but I thought that might be too negative of a way to start the blog, especially on Valentine's Day when the air is supposed to fill with roses and love. But nasty jobs - we all have to do them. And can you tell me why we leave them until the last minute? We procrastinate on them until - well, it just gets ugly!

I had a nasty job sitting in my studio for almost one year. It's been on various lists and I totally ignored the task. But it's ...

Back on track................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

After a few failed attempts, I got the computer rebooted. No problem. No, I didn't restart it last night or this morning when I got up, but when I leave the computer this morning, I shall remember to restart it! The problem is that I have windows open that I want to peruse!!!

Can you believe the weather? After that bitter cold, we're going to hover near zero C today. And then rain in the next day or so. It's like living on a roller coaster. I guess you just better have clothes for any weather at ...

There is no such thing as a coincidence from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

We had a great sit n sew yesterday. I'm going to get to that in a minute.

Two things happened yesterday that are NOT coincidences. First, I went to the Brampton Quilters' Guild meeting last night. Something I haven't done in a long time. It was great to see so many familiar faces. The speakers were the Downsizing Divas - a franchise that offers help to those who need to be downsized, specifically seniors. One of the guild members had the Downsizing Divas come into her sewing space and they helped her get organized. I left the meeting charged ...

It's all about Ronda!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

From time to time, Ronda pops over for a sewing day. Don't worry - she does ask before she comes. We each sew on our own projects just like a sit n sew. If anyone else wants to come, you can ask and if I'm free, you're welcome to come. But yesterday? Well - it was definitely all about Ronda!

We started off with a couple of machine embroidery designs that we were going to make into mug rugs. Unfortunately, there was a wee problem with the embroidery designs when we went to add the second thread color so ...

Happy New Year - 2019 from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Happy New Year!!!!!

It's a bittersweet morning at our house. M, James, and Mr. Bear have already left and are at the airport waiting for their flight home. I miss them already. Well, I do miss Mr. Bear!!!  OK - so who am I kidding - I did enjoy their visit and I will miss them. Have a safe flight and LOVE YOU ALL TO PIECES!!!

Mr. Bear looks like a seasoned traveler

I think he's much happier to be going as a passenger this time instead of ...

The ART of finishing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

As the end of the year closes in, it's time to reflect on the past year and figure out how to go forward. What do we want to do with our lives? our hobby? our stuff?

One thing I came to the realization is that in the quilting world, we all have a tendency to shop like we're running a business, yet we use it up like it's a hobby. Does that make sense?? Most of us do not just buy for a specific project. We see something we like - we buy it! We end up with ...

What's in a quilt magazine? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday, I had the best day ever! A totally relaxed day with a wee bit of quilt related stuff.  Actually, I had a few errands to run in the morning and then had lunch and spent the afternoon with Vivenda! We're in the process of tackling a Laura Heine (collage) pattern. While we did a little bit of work, we mostly chatted and then we were off to visit a quilt shop that I've never been to before.

The pattern has a collaged background but we wanted to do a different thing for our background. After much discussion ...

It's time to get organized! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's that time of the year. Everyone (except DH) makes resolutions. OK - not everyone. I don't really make resolutions either. But I make goals. Goals are way easier to reach because there's a definite end to them. I was digging through some paperwork and found some resolutions (goals) from a while back and I'll share them with you another day. Very interesting!

But one of my challenges is that I have a lot of stuff. Is it too much? Probably, but my mindset is that if I have the room to store it, then I have ...

Slowly back to work.......... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I did get a fair amount done yesterday considering that I also spent a lot of time visiting.

Let's just say that I need to get this recipe for the lentil soup and I should plan on making one big pot each Sunday afternoon. It's so easy to just whip that pot back on the stove and heat it up for lunch. I swear it gets better each time we heat it up!! And much better for me than store-bought. How hard can it be to cut up some veggies and throw in some lentils?

Those oatmeal cookies ...

Progress report from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm feeling so much better today! The fuzzy head seems to have cleared up and that's a good thing. I didn't get much done yesterday and I'm OK with that. Yes - I have a sinus issue but will head to the drug store this morning to get something.

The big news of yesterday - we have company. The little man is back and he brought his handler this time. The handler is off to the airport right now to pick up the boyfriend. Oh yes - it's going to be a fun Christmas. It sure feels weird ...

A wake up call! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm a pretty healthy and fit person. I hope to remain active for a long, long time and I've made some choices this past year. I decided that I wanted to get back down to an ideal weight instead of carrying those extra 20-25 pounds around. Imagine carrying a bag of dog food everywhere! Life is so much easier without that extra baggage.

As the year progresses, I remained fairly true to my new lifestyle eating habits. I tried to eliminate most of the refined sugar from my diet as refined sugar is my biggest culprit. The rest ...

What I've been doing............ from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I thought there would be tons to share with you today since technically I haven't posted about my stuff for four days. Hmm - when I edited the pictures this morning, there isn't that much. BUT - there are finishes that constitute a lot of work.

Without further ado, let's have a look.

I got the binding on that bright orange community projects quilt for our guild. Hm - now the question is - should I count this as a finished project? I made the backing, quilted it and bound it. But I didn't make or have any part of ...

Crazy is not an option! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There's a reason that the title of this blog has the word CRAZY in it.

Here I am getting ready to get on a plane in a couple of hours. What am I doing? Well - it's very early in the morning and I'm writing my blog because we can't miss a day of blogging! We can't miss a day of entertainment for you and me. Have I packed? NO! But at least I did some laundry last night.

There isn't a single time that I leave when I'm not running around like mad ...

Monday Sewing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm glad we all stayed home yesterday. It was wet, it was cold and it's just plain ugly out there.

I did shovel the step off in anticipation of the UPS delivery. I knew the box would be big and heavy and didn't want anyone slipping down the steps. It wasn't that bad to shovel but took several attempts before I got all the snow and ice off the step. Didn't bother with the sidewalk or the drive - hopefully, it'll all be melted soon.

I do need to get out today - I have several ...

More updates from the Forest Road retreat from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What can I say - the three days that we were at the retreat were VERY productive. Here's the rest of the stuff that I worked on.

I had this in my retreat bag, but it was one of the projects that I didn't get to. This is a bag of Northcott Oh Canada  (and Sesquicentennial) fabric scraps. My intention is to make another one of those slab block quilts that everyone made for the Ronald McDonald houses last year. It's a good mindless project to work on at a retreat. It's back in the bag for ...

Happy New Year 2018! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's a new year this morning. Funny how fast 365 days seem to go by. Time to reflect on things of the past and what the future will bring. I'm just super thrilled to say that I finished that binding on that last quilt. It was 7 PM when it got done!! Yeah!!!

I posted a quote the other day - something to the effect that owning less stuff means you have less stuff. You have less to organize and thus more time to do what you want. Well, I'm trying to get rid of stuff. While M ...

Not throwing in the towel yet from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

At the beginning of last year, I created the Dirty Dozen list. Twelve UFOs that I wanted to get done this year. Things didn't progress quite as nicely as I would like and of course, I'm not done them all. BUT there are still three days left in the year and I'm doing what I can to get as much done as possible. Oh, that's a bunch of crock! I don't sew after dinner so I can't be too motivated to get them all done! Whatever I don't get done is getting rolled ...

I'm busting with motivation! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was the first day of the return of the Sit n Sew days! What an exciting day. In addition to that grand event, something very exciting happened and I get to share that with you today!

Last evening, I fell asleep on the couch and when I awoke hours later, I was revved to go and went to the studio to do some work. Oh boy - I'm revved up and what I'm going to do - well that will be shared with you this coming week. It's all about organizing as I was looking for something and ...
