Wek 12 Progress Report
from mequilter
I am late posting again but I still have a picture of my progress.
Which I took a day late.
I have been having issues with my eye making it uncomfortable to stitch. But I still do a little each day.
I will have surgery on April 9th to implant a new lens.
One week to go. I am so looking forward to better vision.
Plus the new magnifying glass I purchased isn't working out real well. It is too heavy to stay where I want it to stay.
And my old one keeps falling off the arm. the ...

Week 11 update on Nikki's Stocking
from mequilter
I was feeling better this week plus I had a whole day with no appointments or errands to run, so I spent most of the day stitching.
Look I have stems going down!
And some flowers filled in.

Week 10 Nikki's Stocking Update
from mequilter
I am almost a week late posting this!
I did make progress last week but not a lot. I was sick and my eyes became fatigued very quickly. Working with one eye with the lens out of place is hard and somedays it is harder than others.
Plus last night when I wanted to write something on my blog I couldn't get into it. If would flash up and blink out. So, I posted in a blogger help community and received the answer. Some old widget on the side no longer worked and some not so nice person put ...

Week 9 Stocking Update
from mequilter
It was a good week and I finished off those Wisemen
and all those tiny leaves on the trees.
I almost finished that line of words.
The blue design and the star were also completed.
The other exciting thing that happened to show progress was I did my first rolling up of the stocking to make it easier to stitch at a lower area.

Week 8 Stocking Update
from mequilter
I don't have a lot to say this week, other than it has been a busy week. With all kinds of stuff. But here come the pictures.
I am excited to start a new area.
From February 29th.
I tried to put the needle through some of those bottom blue stitches to finish of the thread and the frame was starting to get in my way. If I keep working towards the bottom I am going to have to roll my stocking up. Or I could go up and work on the top of the stocking.
Decisions, Decisions!

Week 7 Stocking update
from mequilter
I am so grateful that my husband is a handy man!
I tried to find a new clip on magnifying glass but no such luck. I have had that glass for a long time. So, I asked my husband if he could work his magic and he did!
Here is my light clipped on to a monitor to keep it in the right position for the glue to dry.

Week 6 Stocking Update And An Eye Issue
from mequilter
I did make progress but not a lot. But some is better then none.
Can you see the progress? Obviously the word Him is the most noticeable. But there are more leaves on the top trees and the third Wise Man's body is done.
I did a lot of birthday celebrating. And I also hit some hiccups.

Week 5 Stocking Update
from mequilter
I am late posting this but the pictures was taken on last Thursday.
I had a wonderful busy weekend and a couple of days to spend
celebrating my birthday. I can't miss those celebrations!
Even when progress is made there can be some obstacles.
I was stitching away and felt something strange on the bottom.
I flipped it over and what did I behold? A bird's nest.

Stocking Update Week 4
from mequilter
Well, I did very little reverse sewing this week.
And it was only where I was working.
What a relief!
It was nice to have stitches already laid down.
That helps when I am tired I don't have to stop to count.
I just do the other side of the X.
I still have a lot of little leaves to make.
The picture was from Thursday night February 1st.
Four weeks from when I started on Thursday January 4th.

Week 3 Nikki's Stocking
from mequilter
Well, I am making progress,
even if I did ended up doing some ripping!
Luckily it wasn't a lot.
I also have to be careful of what I am watching.
I found when I am watching Downton Abby, for the 2nd time,
I stop stitching and just watch.
That doesn't help with the progress.
This is where I ended last night Friday the 26th.
I made it all the way to the left side and
I was one stitch too close to the flower pot.
I had to unstitch all the way to the left hand side of ...

when you make no mistakes!
Or no major mistakes!!
Or none that I can see!

Another Stocking in the Works
from mequilter
We have a new family member and we really love her.
| Our son Klint and his new bride Nikki |
| Walling into the reception |
So, of course this means Nikki needs her own stocking
that matches the all the family stockings.
On January 4th I started the stocking.
I had a really large piece of fabric and I had to decide
which way to cut it so the stocking would fit.
The the next step was to fray check all the edges
so, I won't have loose threads on the end.
Before I could start stitching I had to find ...

Oh hexie, hexie, hexie
from Applique 'n Patch Quilting
The left hand side of this section has been added .... now onto the right side.
.... and, before I knew it ..... just like that ..... this section is done. Three rows added to the top and bottom! Just need to do the remaining three sections.I needed to clear up my design wall to get this UFO up and running. More on this for a later post.
In order to clear the design wall, all my hexies for the other sections were carefully removed and pinned and labelled onto this fabric. Don't these hexies look wonderful on that dark fabric? This ...

Indigo Way Gets Going!
from The Modern Diary
I changed my mind about my colors for Indigo Way several times, but in the end I wound up with brown, cheddar, and indigo. The first clue had Bonnie using indigo, and I followed suit. Made about two thirds of the parts before I realized her indigo is my brown! Oops, so I then started over and made all of the clue in brown. You may remember I did this once before with a clue in En Provence!
I made two more Christmas stockings. These are for Wren and Chava, I think!
Here is one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge ...

Quilting
Remember this top from spring? It’s a game that isn’t over even though it was “rain-delayed”. I meant to quilt it immediately but got sidetracked by finding all those Ocean Wave units. Who’d have realized it would take all summer to finish one OW quilt? And it's still not done; the weather is simply too hot to work on it now.
Junk lying around bothers me. Unfinished projects and excessive amounts of materials become junk. Yes, I’m a minority voice but stuff that ...

Stockings Were Finished in 2020
from mequilter
Yes, I did finish the stockings!
They were well received by the recipients.
The second picture is when they returned from the finisher.
And the backs.
Below is my niece admiring her stocking. She is the big sister to my two adopted daughters. They are on the couch with matching pj bottoms.

"Creative" Christmas Stockings
from Sew Preeti Quilts
The Island Batik Ambassadors challenge for November 2022 is Creative Christmas Stockings.
Me: What is the purpose of Christmas stockings?
Paul: Not to keep your feet warm...
Me: Just a decorative item, then?
Paul: Mostly.
Me: You know how much I hate "decorative stuff". Just another dust collector, in my opinion.

Me: You know how much I hate "decorative stuff". Just another dust collector, in my opinion.
Paul: Well, some people may actually use it for stuffing Christmas presents.
Me: Hmm... I thought about that.
Paul: And?
Me: Only small presents...
Paul (mischievously): Like dollar bills?
Me (realistically): And gift cards.
Paul: Yup, those can be placed inside a stocking.
Me: Small boxes of jewelry too ...

Big Book Summer Challenge Progress and More.
from The Modern Diary
I could not remember if I had quilted my last Mourning Crosses quilt (made with bits of my Dad's clothing) so I searched my blog and saw that I never posted it finished, but I it was finished and in my cabinet. So here it is.
For my "Christmas through the Year" challenge to myself, I made two more stockings to go to Norway to my honorary daughter Rachel's new step children. Made both with leftover bits and love the one on the left so much I do not want to send it!

Christmas 2021
from Mama Spark's World
Christmas was pretty low key over here at chez Lincoln. We didn't have the grandbaby but our other 2 kids were here. I forgot to share some photos of the Christmas stockings I made for my great nephew Charlie. Thought I would share those now. This Santa one was made for Charlie's grandma and grandpa's house. I had a devil of a time finding that green for the name. I usually put my fabrics
