Sorting and packing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I've got time change woes! I can't seem to get to sleep until much later than usual and, hence, waking up much later! I can't let that happen tomorrow, as I need to be on the road EARLY! Let's hope my clock resets tonight. I have no idea how people who travel through different time zones a lot can manage!

After spending most of the morning doing paperwork and answering e-mails, it was time to move on to something else. I will say that the unsubscribing I've been doing seems to make a big difference ...

Confessions from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A quick note about the Barn Star Sampler.

Barn Star Sampler

A number of you have realized that you can purchase a PDF of the book directly from the author, and there are other places where you can buy different versions. The Hobby Horse still has about 8 copies! Whether we run the class through The Hobby Horse or I do it myself, we WILL have a class on this quilt. Sooooooooooooooooo    --- if you bought it -- just wait!

If you want to go ahead and sew it, there will be no need to sign up for the class. Part of ...

The elephant in the room from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another AMAZING day with Karen. It's incredible how much one can learn by observing, and I did a lot of observing. I'm thankful I had that opportunity!

Once the event was over and I could cash out (more on that another day), I was on my way home. It had been raining like cats and dogs earlier in the day, with gale-force winds. Did I want to drive in those conditions? However, the rain stopped, and the roads were dry on the way home. But the wind? It was windy, and I had to keep a firm grip ...

Me and my machines from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What a whirlwind day! I got so much done, and I had three machines going simultaneously! I actually worked later than I had planned, and I HATE when I do that because if I don't get my 8 hours of sleep, I'm tired, and it takes me a while to get moving. Note to self: DO NOT miss that bedtime hour - it's bad news for the next day!

The day didn't get off to a productive start, as I was on the phone until lunchtime! That was NOT in the plan, but it was all good ...

Catching Up With Makes from Mama Spark's World

I have been SO busy sewing and trying to finish my "to do" list.  (and no, Margie, I have not forgotten about the stockings).I have LOADS of Christmas presents to finish binding, some baby quilts to ship out, and baby shower gifts that I needed to make.First up is to share what I made for Avery for his first birthday.  I put together a car mat, and made a Bendy Bag to put the little cars in and

Lost Connections from Celtic Thistle Stitches

The start of a new month and it's time for another Endeavourers  reveal and the theme for this quarter is Memories. As ever the problem is pinning down a project for the theme from the multitude of ideas floating around in my head :)

During my deliberations I kept coming back to Alzheimer's devastating effect on my Dad's memory in the last couple of years of his life. Lost Connections above is my attempt at representing some of the confusion and frustration that he, and we, felt as the disease took an ever stronger grip on him.

 I ...

A Fidget Quilt for my Mom from Kim Hanson Quilts

I’ve heard about the benefits that fidget quilts or touch quilts offer to dementia/Alzheimer’s patients. In late summer, I got to see the results first hand.

My 86 year old mom was hospitalized in August of this year. Besides having several debilitating health issues, she also exhibited symptoms of dementia. In the past four years, she was often in a mental fog, had dreadful hallucinations of bugs flying around her head and was scared to leave her home. (The one true blessing, though, is that she never forgot any of her kids’ or grandkids’ names.)

I pulled ...
