Snowmageddon!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW -- that's all I can say about the snow! Where the heck did it all come from? I don't even know when it started, but it was early in the morning, and the girls and I had a lovely walk in the snow. And then it kept snowing and snowing and snowing and snowing.

The wild and long snowstorm

I went out to shovel at 2 PM and shoveled for about 40 minutes. I cleared half the driveway. I had put the car in the garage in the morning because it would make it easier to clear the ...

Doing the happy dance!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So some days are better than others! Yesterday was not such a productive sewing day. I could be disappointed in myself, but seriously? What will that do? NOTHING! I rack it up to a sewing day when not much got done, and push for a better day today.

However, something so monumental happened yesterday that I think I was in shock and couldn't really focus on anything else!

One of my goals for 2026 is to get my embroidery design files in order. That task is overwhelming because those files are everywhere. Where does one start and how? How ...

You are never too old! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH, I just realized that the title of yesterday's blog AND the first picture you see of a volcano erupting were perhaps a bit dramatic!! BUT getting that much work done in the office was dramatic!

I listened to this audiobook MANY years ago when I started my decluttering journey. I just checked my blog and the date was March 10, 2014!!!!! Well, I listened to it somewhere, and I suspect it was before I started because the first room I tackled was the bedroom, and that's the first room mentioned in the book. For the record, and ...

Sit Down -- this news is SHOCKING!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

To stop you from guessing, the picture on the jigsaw puzzle is Mount Etna, and it erupted on December 27th in fine form! Fascinating to see the photos of the red-hot lava against the snow.

Mount Etna erupted on December 27th

OK -- I warned you, and I hope you are sitting down because what I'm about to say is shocking! I even shocked myself.

So Miss Murphy and I were on our walk, and we were chatting. And then she said to me, "Mom - Enough is enough. I'm tired of sleeping in that office with all your junk ...

Happy New Year!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

 Happy New Year!!!!!

If the year is going to be anything like my first 30 minutes of being awake this morning, it's going to be a heck of a ride!

But first - did I stay up last night? I did NOT, however, I needed to use the washroom, and I checked my watch just for curiosity, and it was 11:58. So technically, I was up! But I wasn't celebrating, and thankfully, I went right back to sleep after the clock turned over!

We had great fun at the Virtual Retreat, and well, that's where my morning ...

Making a journal cover from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

As promised, here are the links to the journal cover tutorials I've written over the years. Note the date on these tutorials - July 2014. This is the SECOND set of tutorials I wrote for QUILTsocial. I'm sure my writing style and grammar have changed significantly!

This is the basic tutorial on making a journal cover. I think the method of adding the lining is clever, and there's no reason to leave an opening along one side to turn it inside out.

Making a collage journal cover. Perfect way to use up scraps or create a personalized cover ...

Setting expectations from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm chuckling after reading the comments! First -- Jackie - 100%. Keep those three main areas clear - the cutting table, the ironing surface, and the sewing worktable. The rest of the place? Who cares! Well, it should be somewhat neat and tidy, whether that is in bins, on a table, or whatever. If you don't have room to work, you won't want to work! Thanks, Jackie, for confirming my new system!

As for technology — 100% agree — if there is an issue, it can take eons to fix. I love that you warned your DH to stand back! Yep -- that ...

December Discoveries from From the Strawberry Patch...

'tis the season! It's been a busy few weeks around here; ones full of happy days, and lots of busy times and delightful  holiday related discoveries. I'll start with this struggling Christmas cactus. This plant belonged to my mother-in-law. It wasn't in the best shape when I brought it here to live after cleaning out her home over four years ago. I haven't done a thing to it, except for weekly

HOPE for Christmas:) from Nestlings By Robin

HOPE
www.nestlingsbyrobin.com

I don't know where my
grandpa got his love of candles
but it passed down to my
mother and to me.
For years one of my shopping
highlights was going to
Yankee Candle every season
to see what new wonderful
candle décor was available.
Being brought up Catholic
there were many opportunities
for candle lighting.

Once old enough to light my
own candle in thought or
remembrance of another was
a big deal for me.
I enjoyed the ceremonial aspect
 of lighting the candle then
kneeling to prayer.
Then there were the Advent candles
every Christmas season and ...

Video: 5 Ways to Remove Leftover Wax from Candle Jars from Craftcore

This video is part 2 in my series on reusing candle wax. Previously I made a video on how to reuse candle wax by melting the wax in jars on the stove, then transferring all the hot wax to a new jar with a fresh wick.

I got a lot of great feedback via comments on my YouTube channel from viewers on more ways to remove wax from jars. I’m currently stuck in the house due to the COVID-19 outbreak, so it’s the perfect time to try out your suggestions! If you have a tried and true method ...

One more bites the dust from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I didn't get nearly as much completed as I would have liked, but we had company for a good part of the day so it was all for a good reason!

I did manage to get that Redwork Embroidery UFO - DONE!!!  It's now sitting in the "to be quilted" pile and I'm thrilled to death about that. There remain three items on the 2017 list, five on the 2018 list, and nine still on the list for 2019. As I mentioned, I am being very optimistic and putting 12 new items on the list for 2020. I ...
