Baby Shower Weekend from Mama Spark's World

**Note this post is super photo heavy** This past weekend was full of baby showers!  My niece had hers on Saturday.   They are expecting a baby boy the end of March. I made some crib sheets, a self binding blanket, some burp cloths,  a chenille blanket and some bunny ear teethers for her shower. I have some of these and some other burp cloths available in my ETSY shop.

Sewing in the Polar Vortex from Luann's Loose Threads

We are just coming out of the Polar Vortex.   Schools here were closed both Wednesday and Thursday, and at one point our temperature was -10 degrees, and the wind chill was -41 degrees.   I just trusted the weather forecasters that this was bone chilling cold, and I stayed inside.  It's a bit warmer today, and we had some snow overnight.   It's not enough to completely cover the grass.  Before spring, I would just like one huge dump of snow.  And, I would like for it to snow during the day so I can watch it pile up.  I ...

Sewing, Sewing Sewing from Mama Spark's World

I decided that I needed to get my bee blocks for January finished so worked on those this weekend. I really enjoyed making these blocks and found that the pattern went together very easily. I love the meandering black fabric.   It is an old Denise Schmidt fabric.  It looks really cool in this block.   These were paper pieced from a free pattern at Whole Circle Studio These will be

I Declare This The Year Of The Babies from Mama Spark's World

It seems like so many folks are having babies this year!   I can not even handle how many chenille blankets and baby quilts I will be making this year.   I have 2 nieces (and one that just had her baby), another 2 friends and one friend having twins!   I have decided that chenille blankets will only be made for showers for friends and all family babies.  Quilts are going to be even more

Churn Dash Baby Quilt from Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting

I finished the Churn Dash baby quilt.  I used pink Realtree camo flannel for the Churn Dash blocks.  The background fabric is a dotted print (it doesn't show up very well in the pictures).

speckled Minkee on the back

I used most of the extra fabric to make 2 flannel/satin blankets to go with the quilt.
flannel on one side, satin on the other

Yes, the satin is washable.  I took these pictures after I'd washed and dried everything.  I even pre-washed all the fabrics before I made anything.

I had some scraps left, so, I decorated ...

Stitching Progress from Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting

I've been trying to get several projects closer to completion this week.  After not getting much sewing done this summer (the sewing room kept turning into a nursery), I'm trying to play 'catch up'.

My little quilt guild is trying to make 14 quilts for the Naperville 360 boys and girls homes.  This same guild made 8 quilts and gave them for Christmas 2016, but, those boys have all moved on.  I've got 2 quilt tops finished, waiting to be basted and quilted, for the boys.

The first quilt, I made the top back in January 2017 ...

Oliver's Quilt from Seaside Stitches

Hi, everyone! It's been almost a year since I've posted here and I miss you! I've got some catching up to do. It won't be chronological, but I hope to include all my finished projects since last August. Eek!

Let's get back in the swing of things with Oliver's quilt! My niece in California is expecting her first baby in a few weeks. She is doing the nursery in blues and gray with whales and octopi. How cute will that be?

I knew Preppy the Whale by Elizabeth Hartman would be the perfect pattern ...
