Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along from Espritpatch

Yes I know, another new project... but (!) this one is all about using my scraps, what's not to love. And the instructions come in German for the Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along

The first 3 blocks are made of rectangles and I used only scraps to make those (I can't really say I have made a dent in my scrap basket either actually...)

I picked green as the focus colour for the blocks since this is the January colour for the Rainbow Scraps Challenge organised by Angela I joined the challenge years ago but hadn't participated in recent ...

A new quilt-along from Espritpatch

Of course I need a new project like I need a hole in my head... but I might have joined a quilt along... or three!

I quite liked the first block Edyta Sitar posted for her Birthday Quilt 2024. I checked my stash to choose some fabric and I decided it would be a good opportunity to break into the Obi bundle by Hyokka Ryoran from Quiltgate that I bought nearly 10 years ago on Massdrop/Drop without any specific projects in mind.

I started just a little late but I am happy that I am all caught up just ...

Quilt Block Mania - December is Forest from The Inquiring Quilter

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Forest!

I love walking in the woods, and for this month’s block I imagined a quiet evening in the woods at Christmas. Above, a single star lights the way. The only witness? A tiny cardinal.

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How Do I Get the Free Silent Witness Pattern? at the end of this post.

To me, a cardinal ...

Quilt Block Mania - November is Kitchen from The Inquiring Quilter

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Kitchen!

I love cooking—almost as much as I love quilting! And when I thought about this month’s theme, I knew I wanted to depict two indispensable kitchen tools that happen to go by the same name—spatulas.

Not sure why they share the same name. Sure is confusing. But I know I wouldn’t be able to cook without them!

To learn how to get my ...

Halloween colors from I Patch and Quilt

Have you have your Halloween decorations still up? I have taken down about half, mostly those that are visible from the street. I will tackle to ‘indoors’ ones later this weekend. I do think I will leave some of them up a bit longer, like my Halloween quilt, the pillows and the ceramic items. They bring in the so needed splash of color. Most people here will not pull out their Christmas decorations for another month or so (after Saint Nicolas Day at the beginning of December). I think it is fine to leave some ghosts, black cats and a ...

A small splash of sunshine from The Academic Quilter

Hello all! How is your day going? I'm just working through some stuff, trying to get some grades done and maybe find a few minutes to throw in some laundry. Long ago I read a column or something about the "eternal three--" kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry. No matter how much you work on them, they always need more work. That author was not wrong.

Thankfully, I also found a few minutes to make two lovely yellow blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge. I have a bunch of yellow, mostly in smaller pieces, but it worked out this time. Here ...

Quilt Block Mania - October is Baby from The Inquiring Quilter

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is the Baby!

Who doesn’t love babies? They are so soft and sweet. A few years back, my fellow Island Batik Ambassadors celebrated a newborn by making its mother a quilt. We each designed a block and made it. One Ambassador sewed them all together and another quilted and bound it.

My block was an elephant rattle. I’m not sure how I got the notion, but I ...

Peace and plenty of color from The Academic Quilter

Hi all! How has your week been? We have moved on from hot and dry to extremely hot and just about to storm like crazy. We broke temperature records four days in a row this week. Try to imagine college students in a classroom in a building built in the 1890s when it's 100 degrees outside. Zero fun, do not recommend.

I have a fun finsh to show off today, though-- I have finished the top of the Peace and Plenty quilt! Take a look and see if you think it's as gorgeous as I do:

Wow, that ...

Quilt Block Mania - September is Fall from The Inquiring Quilter

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is the Fall!

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love to see the leaves changing color. The sheer number of colors I see in the leaves during the Fall simply amazes me.

Quilt Block Mania - August is Circus from The Inquiring Quilter

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is the Circus!

My favorite thing I associate with a circus is elephants. Frankly I prefer to think of elephants out in the wild, so I made my elephant wild and free, and happily blowing its trunk!

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How Do I Get the Free Elephant Pattern? at the end of this post.

Firecracker reds from The Academic Quilter

Hello all! I am waving wildly, even if you can't see me. Welcome to mid-July! Yep, summer is going away super fast. A month from today we'll be ramping up for the fall semester. Yikes! I think I just had a moment of panic. Here's hoping it passes quickly, because I just don't have time for that right now.

What better color for a hot and wet July than red? As you may know, red is not my favorite color, and I haven't historically had a lot of red. But I do have some, and ...

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Places.

I had a hard time with this one I will admit. Should I do London? Paris? Somewhere in Ireland? Finally though I hit on the one place I love to return to as often as I can—the beach!

Here is Best Friends!

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How Do I Get the Free Best Friends Pattern? at the end of this post.

Quilt Block Mania - April is Neighborhood from The Inquiring Quilter

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Neighborhood.

Welcome to Funky Town!

When I heard the theme, I immediately thought of curvy, wacky, colorful houses a la Dr. Seuss and I knew I wanted to design a funky town!

Here’s my fabric pull. I started with bright prints with interesting textures, then added some matching solids. To polish everything off, I pulled from my stack of ...

RSC Week 10, GREEN all over from Grandma's Red Needle

GREEN and wet outside - GREEN and cozy inside!
It's week 10 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge - RSC hosted by Angela over at SOS Scrappy. March is the GREEN month. It has been more rainy (and h*** humid!) than sunny days this week hence no venture out (except grocery shopping).

I've been working on green, trying to reduce some of the approximately 30 yards measured. Where did all that green come from?! Someone must have done some purchases! LOL

After making the pink quilt (left to add binding) for the little girl, I decided to make a GREEN quilt ...
