On baking a cake from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Gail's comment about keeping track of what she has accomplished is an excellent reminder. We are all on that treadmill, and if we don't stop and look at what we have done, it can add to that feeling of getting nowhere fast. Celebrate what we've done to help us get through what we need to do!

I'm trying to keep a picture of what I finish -- totally finished things, not just what I accomplished monthly on the sew-alongs. I don't think there are too many things in that folder yet this year. But that's ...

It's A Mystery from From the Strawberry Patch...

Don't you love a good mystery? If so, I've got one for you. On Thursday I needed to stop at a Post Office to mail a package. Mr. G. and I were on our way to meet friends for lunch, I asked him to stop at a local hardware store along our route that has a Post Office located at a counter in the back part of the store. This particular hardware store stocks a treasure trove of merchandise, it's

Pickle Dish and Cheesecake from Quilts....etc.

The final arcs are made for the Pickle Dish – now to see if I can get them attached before Melanie arrives for our birthday meal with Melanie – I decided to get the arcs done first as they are easy to do and do not need pinning – now the curves need to be […]

Embroidery, Binding and What's on my Design Wall from The Cozy Quilter

For my slow stitching this week, I spent some time working on my embroidered quilt label for my Lupine quilt.  I removed the blue pen marks from the parts that I have done already.  I had to do some unstitching when I used only two strands of floss instead of three when I started stitching the black letters this week.  Oops!  I must say it is harder to unstitch embroidery than machine stitching!

I added the binding to another comfort quilt this week and started hand stitching it on the back.  This is a biggish square quilt so I anticipate ...

Feathered Star from Quilts....etc.

Another busy day.  Of course I knew I would make a mistake on this block no matter how many times I double checked placement before I sewed.  I found one early on and got that one fixed and then totally missed the last one until it was done and I was standing back proudly looking […]

My brain is overloaded! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

My head is about to explode! And not because I'm sick  -- it's going into learning overdrive! Yesterday was a HUGE challenge - the customer wanted one thing -- I didn't know how to make it happen. After some DESPERATE phone calls and e-mails and THANK GOD people were there for me, I was back at the long arm, and I figured it out!

One more test run to attempt this morning, and then I'm loading the quilt. I have to say that I was feeling pretty low yesterday as I tried and tried and couldn't make it ...

whirlwind . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Well, all I can think of to say is that it's been a wild ride, this past week or so (and I'm not talking about the tornado watch we're currently under)!

We had a lovely Christmas . . . but there were some sad things, too.  Most notably, my dad went to the hospital by ambulance on Monday, December 20, with an exacerbated COPD episode. We (and the doctors) had hoped he would be home by Christmas, but complications arose and that was not to be.  He came home late this afternoon, by the same method he went.  Hospice has ...

Another Baking Day from Quilts....etc.

And very little sewing got done – Melanie and I had decided we couldn’t let the holidays go by without baking some Speculaas – (Speculaas or its variant speculoos is a type of spiced shortcrust biscuit, traditionally baked for consumption on or just before St Nicholas’ day in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and around Christmas […]

It's Fall Y'all! from I Have A Notion

Its Fall and half of the month of October is nearly gone !!! I would love to say I don't know where it went, but I do! The Markers of FallJust like any other season, I seem to have a full plate this fall. Mentally September always signals that fall is here, for me. Of course, because I am of a certain age Labor Day indicates the end of summer and the start of the school year, and therefore

Hot Day = Sewing Room from Quilts....etc.

We are in the middle of a short heat wave.  We are talking 95-98 degree weather for at least 4 days and yesterday was the second one we had.  I guess I would rather have a couple hot days to the flooding, tropical storms and fires that are happening in other parts of the US […]
