Baking Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! Happy Saturday! We had a dry day yesterday, and it was very nice to get outside for a little bit. My only venture outside was to fill the bird feeders. The kitties were happy to get outside for a nice munch of their favorite grass. Think of it as the green, green grass of home. They like it better than the stuff they get while we're traveling.

Mike used the time to rake up and clean up the rest of the leaves near the front door. There's a Japanese maple tree there that was ...

A Little of Everything from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! Happily, I announce that I'll have the house to myself today and tomorrow. It isn't that I don't enjoy having Mike around...I do. On the other hand, a chance to go a little bohemian is always appealing. There were a couple of housekeeping chores on the calendar for today and tomorrow, but I moved those to a different day. Aside from watering the flower pots, these two days are mine, all mine.

Backing up to yesterday, there was a lot to do. It was tempting to get right to work, but I ...

Boulder City, Nevada from ... Cat Patches

It was a mostly driving day yesterday, and we're now set up in Boulder City for the next two weeks. We were just discussing our plans for this place. My x-ray is set up for early Monday morning in Henderson (about 30 minutes away), and so we'll use that time to visit a quilt shop and a hardware store.

When we drove into town yesterday, I wasn't looking for a sign, and so I almost missed it. When I took it off the camera this morning, I noticed it was built to look like Hoover Dam.

As ...

Let Them Eat Cake from ... Cat Patches

Yesterday's pretty sunrise was a portent of the crappy day of weather ahead of us. It was blustery and cloudy, and by day's end a big black cloud formed in the sky, dumping rain for most of the evening. Today, we're back to sunshine, although it is decidedly cooler than it has been. We still want to do some hiking, but I have a feeling we'll wait until the weekend is over. Maybe not...one never knows.

I took a break from slow stitching and photography yesterday in order to try a cake recipe I saw ...

Busy Weekend Ahead from ... Cat Patches

It's that final push before a trip to get everything done. It's the part I dislike most about traveling. We're always so busy before we leave, and then it's a relief to get under way. As I've said many times, camping is forced relaxation. There simply isn't that much to do once we get going. The push ahead of time can be exhausting. We're taking the smaller truck camper for this trip, and so there isn't as much to do since there isn't as much room. We simply can't take ...
