This is the wonderful sewing machine I’ve had for more than the past five years. A few years ago, I was able to add a lovely iridescent “skin” to the plain faceplate (click the photo to enlarge for a better view!), and I’ve loved sewing on such a beautiful machine with such wonderful capabilities. However, […]

Love leadlight and stained glass windows and I think these designs would look great on a bed, or hanging on a wall.
I tried to pick a favourite, but it was a dead heat between these two.

Sarah Fielke designed it and hundreds of quilters are making it all over the world, but it feels perfectly unique to me. I'm always a little shocked when I get a section done. Shocked by what I learned, how much better I am at the end of the month than at the beginning, and how it looks totally different from everyone else's.
This month wasn't any different. Well, it ...
read moreThe Japanese fabrics art quilt is done! At the end of the last post about it, I had the three elements quilted and the base finished. One down - 3 more to go |
It's always hard to get back into the swing of things after a vacation, isn't it? At least that is what I found this week. I did manage to get my studio unpacked and finally looked at my Block of the Month, Homeward Bound.

I had a few rules parameters when I started this journey last January.
- Stick to the pattern
- Stick to the technique the designer was teaching
- Finish each month on time
I've been puttering around, sewing the wedges together from a project that got cut too small. It just seems like a waste to have it sit in the orphan totes forever. The plan is to hand applique these wheels to a background block and then figure out a center circle fabric. Perhaps blue? Some of the Dresdens are a little bit wonky, but I'm crossing my fingers the hand work will ease it out.
