Into The Blue from Sew Karen-ly Created...

The Island Batik Ambassador challenge for April is to make a square baby quilt, using our Accuquilt Go Cutters.
As you may recall, Accuquilt surprised the Ambassadors this year by sending along an entire cutting system, including the 8" QUBE set, to each participant. What an amazing machine this is - fast, accurate, and fun to use.  My favourite thing is that you don't plug this in - it is powered by a simple hand crank that takes no effort to turn.  This is especially important for me, as Polly has to be in the middle of everything I do and ...

Green Hearts: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday from Clever Chameleon

Green patchwork colours at Clever Chameleon

Green for Solidarity and Caring

Several days ago I found out about the Healing Hearts for Christchurch initiative. It is a drive to make and distribute quilts to the people most affected by the recent terror attack in Christchurch.

I decided that I would like to support this group of caring quilters on their quest to show love, respect, acceptance, and support to those affected within the Muslim community. They are also reaching out to the first responders, emergency services personal and ongoing support workers of Christchurch. So today, my friend Susan and I started turning our green fabric scraps ...

Stellar BOM: Blocks 6 + 7 from Blossom Heart Quilts

Though I’m past one hundred thousand miles⁣

I’m feeling very still⁣

And I think my spaceship knows which way to go⁣

Block 7 from Stellar BOM with AccuQuilt Qube by BlossomHeartQuilts.com

Download the free pattern for block 7 here

Block 7 is quite possibly one of my favourite non-star blocks… It’s a bit fun! A spaceship taking off into the sky, zooming through the stars and planetary bodies. Like block 6.

Block 6! Let’s not forget block 6, it’s a moon… or a planet… or where ever it is that the spaceship is headed. And that pink Alison Glass print with the symbols? Definitely a ...

Stash report March 24, 2019 from Making A Lather

It's a miracle, but, there was no new fabric making a home here with me last week. I did buy some shirts at the rescue mission for .25 each. But, I walked away from thrift store fabric and giveaways and other peoples's scraps....at least last week. I make no promises.

I am still sorting through the green scraps, and used the shortish strips to make 4 patches in 2 1/2 inch size. I used the 2 1/2 inch die to subcut into twosies.

And then there were more 4 patches for the irish chain quilt ...

Friendships on A Friday from Humble Quilts

I've said it before, I'll say it again. What I love most about quilting is the friendships I make!
Before going to the textile Museum (more on that Monday) I had a chance to visit with Laurie and see some of her "new" acquisitions and her recent sewing projects.

Look at this amazing princess star antique quilt! I love that the quiltmaker quilted the hanging diamonds directly over the applique!
This was a beautiful crib quilt with fantastic Prussian blues and that tiny scalloped binding!

I've tried to copy her decor ideas, but cannot pull it off ...

Scrappy Gray from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I decided to start something new!

A few months back, I was going to make a quilt using green/brown staggered 16 patch block.  Well, the design changed and the idea was scrapped.

A few of you requested that I didn't give up on the idea...
So I am ready to give it another chance.

My gray color bin was stuffed to the gills, so I pulled out my AccuQuilt 2.5" multiple square die and started stacking on the scraps.

In no time at all, I had just under 500 squares ready for assembly.  I think I will ...

Cheri’s Patriotic Tumbler Block Quilt from Quilted Joy

Cheri is a loving grandmother and a quilter which means those grandchildren are each getting a very nice gift. She decided to make a set of tumbler block quilts for her grandsons.

Patriotic Tumbler Block Quilt

If I remember correctly, they each picked out the colors for their own quilt. This grandson choose a patriotic theme with colors of red, white, and blue, but antiqued just a bit. Therefore, there are a lot of navy’s, burgundy’s, creams and tans. It is a beautiful quilt with a lot of piecing.

Piecing a Tumbler Block Quilt

These tumbler quilts look a little more complicated ...

Dancing a Jig to a little Ditty: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday from Clever Chameleon

Ditty fabrics from Island Batik colour scheme at Clever Chameleon

Introducing Ditty

Ditty is the name of one of Island Batik’s latest fabric releases. The colours are as cute as their name… Kind of a pastelly sunset. Actually, I don’t easily recognise them as pastels but I guess that is what they really are, since they are nowhere near colour-saturated. Is there such things as bright pastels? If there wasn’t, there is now.

I received 10″ precut squares of Ditty and two pieces of yardage from the collection in my Island Batik Ambassador allowance. I hope you have been following along and already know what I am ...

Amanda’s Fidget QuiltMaking a child-like activity quilt for my... from Living Water Quilter

Amanda’s Fidget Quilt

Making a child-like activity quilt for my 85-year-old mother, Amanda, was wonderful and emotionally difficult at the same time. Amanda, is a retired nurse, mother of five, grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of four.

She has vascular dementia.

image

Cookie, my sister and Amanda’s full-time caregiver, requested I make our mother a fidget quilt to help ease dementia anxiety.

image

So, I began with Island Batik’s Crystal Ball 10-inch pre-cut  fabric stack. I’m thankful for the generosity of Island Batik, which provided the fabric as part of the Island Batik Ambassador program.

I collected buttons ...

House Warming Present {IB Amabassador Goodies 2019} from Little Bunny Quilts

As you may know, my husband and I recently bought a house and have spent the majority of January packing, moving, sorting, and unpacking. However, you might appreciate that the first package that arrived at the house wasn't anything for the house -- it was my first Island Batik Ambassador box for 2019!

Because we had so much to do, it sat in the living room for about 5 days before I had the time and space to open up the box!

Here are all of the fabric goodies I received:

From approximately left to right:
-half yard cuts of ...

Announcement, Announcement, Announcement... from Pamela Quilts

I wanted to get this post up earlier, but had some distractions going on here today.  So better late than never, I wanted to make the official announcement that I am one of the 2019 Island Batik Ambassadors!

I was so excited to hear the news earlier this month, and even more excited to see not one, but two shipping notices for packages headed my way!  I made an unboxing video, and I have to apologize for the really weird lighting.  It was a super rainy day so I had to use my dining room and the lighting was definitely ...

Two Blocks -LHQSQ 2.0 from Gene Black an Alabama Artist

For the Left-Handed Quilter Sampler quilt along,  I have made my first two blocks.  Since there are 99 blocks to choose from and we are only making 25 of them, we can choose which ones we want to make.
My fabrics for this will be mostly Kaffe Fassett by Free Spirit.  The 10" squares and some charm packs were on sale and I couldn't resist the colorful delights.

The pieces were cut with my Accuquilt Go! cutter using the 8" Qube set.  These are 6 inch finished blocks, but the 2" square and 2" half-square triangles from that set ...
