It was a busy weekend and though I got my stitching time in most days, I was still busy enough that it was hard to get to everything on last week's to do list.

The year is half over. I'm always amazed at how quickly we get to this point. We were in Crown Center in Kansas City last week for a conference. The Hallmark store there was setting up for this year's ornament display. Christmas will be here before most of us are ready I'm sure.
Do you ever look at your calendar and realize that you don't really have that much time to get ready for something? Grad Girl will be moving home next month. She's been applying for jobs and has had one video interview so far. With the current job market, she's probably going to be here for at least a month, likely 2 to 3 before she finds a full time chemist job. I've been using her old closet as storage for some of my quilting supplies, I'm going to have to find someplace else because she ...
read moreLaundry and household chores are my prime focus this week after not doing much of either last week. Shirking my housekeeping duties last week let me take advantage of the return of the sewing mojo. That shows up clearly in the progress with last week's to do list.
We were in Texas all last week to attend Grad Girl's thesis defense and then just hang out with her afterwards for a bit of a celebration. Poor girl hasn't had a real vacation in over a year. The presentation of her work was public, so we were able to attend that. Afterwards we waited in the hallway while she took questions from her committee.
My last two posts made it pretty clear that I've not been that interested in spending time in the sewing room this last week. Progress on last week's to do list shows that.
I'm a bit late getting to my to do list for this week. All the rain has brought on lots of pollen and mold, two big allergens for me. Lots of annoying allergy symptoms are sapping my enthusiasm for much of anything this week. I was tempted to not even draft a to do list, but if this keeps up, I'm going to need the motivation. At least last week's list has all check marks
April seemed to move in slow motion till the middle of the month, but the last couple of weeks went fast. So I'm not ready for it to be May. But since it is, it's time to take a look at where I'm at with my quest for a PHD and link up with Ms P Designs for the April PHD report. On first glance it's a bit sad, there has been no change in my PHD report since January.
I did spend hours in the sewing room last week, but some things take longer than you think they will. I did make good progress on my list for last week, but didn't get to all of it.

read moreNot feeling well definitely slowed down my week on several fronts. I barely got in my 15 minutes on the days I felt really bad, so I didn't do so well on my to do list even though it was pretty short.
It's the halfway point in April. Already? My progress this month is a bit of mixed bag. I'm doing well on some things and no so hot on others. The progress on the to do list is a bit spotty for last week.

read moreI saw a meme on Instagram stating that someone should pour out Mother Nature's beer while she's doing all 4 seasons in 24 hours cause she's drunk enough. I'm sure there are a lot in the US that agree with that sentiment. Hopefully we'll actually see some spring weather this week (without tornadoes and floods would be nice).
It was a good week to hang out in the sewing room and work on last week's to do list.

read moreThis year seems to be moving ahead at light speed, when usually the first few months of the year usually seem to go more slowly. This is the last to do list for March. I'm not ready for April. It's coming regardless, so no point in bemoaning. At least I did pretty well at getting last week's to do list checked off.
Even with lots of stitching time, I'm finding it hard to get to every item on my to do list. Mostly because I still have a couple of projects with deadlines, the SAHRR and the guild BOM. I probably should have stuck to a shorter list for last week.

read moreThere was a good bit of sewing to deadlines this last week. I try hard to avoid that as my stitching time is supposed to be relaxing and meditative. Of course it was my own fault, I had plenty of time to work on my projects, I just got sidelined with the new and shiny. At any rate, it all paid off and last week's to do list has lots of check marks.
No surprise that February went fast. I just wasn't ready for how fast it went. Now that we've moved into March, it's time to post a February PHD report and join the linky party over at P Designs USA.
There's been no change in my PHD tracking sheet.
No finishes, but no new starts either. So not good, but not bad either. Though I've not had any finishes, there has been progress on several projects.
To get finishes, backings are needed. I didn't get very far with my plan to move Chocolate Marshmallows (Seabreeze ...

read moreThe drive home from Texas was mostly uneventful. But it's a long time to be in the car, it's a 9 hour drive. The worst part was the heavy fog from College Station to Waco, thankfully there wasn't much traffic. But I was pretty tired when I pulled into the driveway. I ended up in bed a good hour before my normal bedtime last night, but feel much better this morning.
I got in several solid days of stitching time last week, but because I was so behind on my priority projects (projects with deadlines), I didn ...
read moreMy stay in Texas ends today. All my stuff is packed up and ready to load. I'm having my coffee while I put this post together. It's been a fun visit with Grad Girl. We had a lazy weekend. I sewed at the dining room table, she played video games on the couch while we binge watched shows on Disney. So pretty much a perfect weekend.
I did get a lot of stitching done. My priority project for the week was to finish the blocks for the 2025 Guild BOM. The guild meeting got canceled due to all ...
