Sunday Chat – Garden and Quilt Show from From My Carolina Home

Looking out the front sliding glass door on a rainy day this past week, a wet and bedraggled looking Gracie was sitting at the doormat, looking hopeful. It is apparent she still has pups in her nest. Of course she got a nice, fat, peanut butter sandwich.

It was still drizzling, but she took her treat to the retaining wall where she could eat under the canopy of the tree.

Back on the veranda, the dahlias are sprouting. I have these in a pot so I don’t have to dig them up for winter, I just take the pot ...

Progress on No Bees from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

I started No Bees by Birds of a Feather on May 14. My goal was to get the words and one color of the borders stitched and I finished that last night. With the linen drooping in the frame, it looks wonky but it isn’t. In this post, I shared a photo of the chart...

Sunday Stash May 19, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

It’s been a crazy busy week. I didn’t get much sewing time, but I did get another 1/2 yard out from the never ending sewing room declutter. I may be decluttering that room for the rest of my life because there is So. Much. Stuff.

My Guild had their annual fabric sale yesterday. I didn’t enter the sale area until a lot of people were finished shopping. I didn’t really want to buy fabric, but I did want to support the Guild. First I looked at panels, but there weren’t many left. Then I ...

Disconcerting Midweek Start from The Quilt Quine

I was away at the start of the week, teaching and demoing at Barnyarns in NE Yorkshire. I had chosen to travel by train which was great because I could do some work on my laptop and read a book but not so convenient as having a car at the other end. The Premier Inn in which I was staying was a couple of miles out of town so nowhere to go out for food in the evening. The event was well attended by people keen to investigate purchasing a Q-Series machine or just curious or just tempted by Prosecco ...

Stitching Stuff: Week 20 of 2024 from Life In Pieces

It's been a weird week. On a positive note, my knee is finally lining out.  I can go up stairs normally, still look like a gimp going down.  But you have to enjoy the small victories.  I made it to the gym this week, but did a very light work out to avoid doing something stupid and being really sore the next day. I also got in my stitching time this week.

  • 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
  • 15 minute days/May = 18/18 days
  • 15 minute days/2024 = 139/139 days
  • Success rate = 100%
It's been ...

Busy Saturday............. from Exuberant Color

I loaded the backing and batting for this quilt yesterday morning.  I hope I can get it finished soon.

In the afternoon I went to the walk and fund raiser for Prader-Willi syndrome.  I walked the half mile path but it was 83 degrees and sunny so I decided to quit at that point.  My great-grandson is afflicted with this syndrome and it is rare.  Money is always needed for research and my granddaughter did a great job organizing the event.

Last night I started playing with the pink/green blocks.  There are 2 of each combination on the wall ...

Scraps and More Scraps from Quilts....etc.

I was putting away some squares in their proper boxes as I do when I cut up the scrap fabric from different quilts that I make and it always reminds me that I need to look and see what kind of scrappy quilt to make with them –  I only had 2 – 2.5 inch […]

Renovations to my frame room from Stitching Matters

After finishing the Farm Life quilt on Mother’s Day, I deliberately did not book or accept any more quilts for hubby to do some renovations to my frame room.

I don't know whether I shared this photo in the past but this was the wall and cupboard doors in the room.  I know taste differs but I simply couldn’t find a reason why anyone would want lime green walls with these cloth-painted blackish cupboard doors, so this all had to go. Worst of all was that ALL the doors in this house were painted this way be ...

Happy Birthday To Me! from Quilting My Way

Today is my 65th birthday, and I didn't feel a thing! lol

I was up early today. Not for any reason, just up early. Then I went walking with Ron and we did 4 laps. Hoping to get up to 5 laps.

I pretty much played on the tablet all day. I did get a pair of slippers from Phil and Emily. Love them, color and all. They fit great. I've been wearing them all day. My other ones were starting to fall apart.

I wanted a Birthday cake. So, I got a recipe and got to work ...

What I’m Making: Banana Bread/Muffins from Jo's Country Junction

I was busy doing a little experimenting after I bought some bananas on sale. Can you believe the whole sack was only 99 cents? I ended up buying two and gave one to Kalissa. Her boys love banana bread. Then I got home and started thinking what I should make. I have a banana bread …

» Priscilla's Workshop

Perhaps no one cares but I am proud and happy to say that my husband's first pie was delicious. He made a classic flour crust and made another classic, buttermilk pie, that he served with a fruit compote of spring fruits. He is too nervous in the kitchen for my taste--I keep telling him that if you have good ingredients and don't get too carried away with what you do to them all will be well--but his crust was flaky and light and buttermilk pie is hard to mess up unless you cook it too long or too ...

Cross Stitching Without Letters from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

The cross stitch shop in Granby, MO posted on FB yesterday that they had gotten in some Nurge framers and I wanted one (or two) so I asked Vince if he would mind going over there this morning. I had to agree to eat at the Chinese restaurant in Neosho, which I did . ....

Lone Star from Night Owl Quilting

Susan made this pretty Lonestar quilt for her granddaughter, who chose the fabrics herself.   All the shades from the butterfly batik border were pulled out for the star and the background making a really cohesive and attractive quilt.

Susan chose the Windswept pantograph for a simple finish that lets the star shine.

Susan really did a great job putting this one together.  The center where all those seams converge laid flat and didn't require any extra attention from me.  Lone Star are notorious for needing a little extra longarmer love, but not this time!

More Quilts for Survivors Blocks from The Cozy Quilter

I decided to make lots of HST's for this week's batch of blocks for Quilts for Survivors.  I did not have very much of either of these two fabrics for this block--I ended up piecing the middle square from three pieces of fabric to make it big enough.  You probably would not have noticed if I had not told you!

How about some flying geese?

Slanted Diamonds

Broken Dishes

Economy block variation

I actually have 14 blocks ready to donate now.  Two of them are not in this picture. Only 6 more to go to meet my goal ...

Bramble Blooms QAL--2nd Quilt in the Series from Quilty Folk

Here we are, starting in on Bramble Blooms II already! We began working on the first quilt in the series last October, so as predicted, it's been a fairly laid-back QAL. If you're still working on your BBI, that's okay, you can still jump in with the rest of us, we don't mind! In the first Bramble Blooms, we lined up all of our elements, or in 'creative speak', planted a few seeds. Now we'll take those freshly planted seeds, shake them up a bit and explore some options for making a variation. As Andrea ...

Wilson State Park from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We find ourselves in Sylvan Grove, Kansas, this morning and at a truly lovely state park. We held off leaving our previous stop until around 11:00 a.m. in order to arrive at the new spot at check-in time. It gave me some time to work on my slow stitching. I finished off the Kitten #10.

Here are the ten kittens I have for this quilt so far.

Next up, I'll be starting on covered bridge #4 for the Grandpa's Bridges quilt.

It's hooped up and ready for me to take the ...
