Reversible and Reusable Bowl Cover Pattern from Patchwork Posse

Learn how to make a custom sized reversible bowl cover pattern. This ingenious creation serves a dual purpose: first, as a handy cover for your dough bowl during the bread rising process, and second, as a versatile accessory for picnics or potluck gatherings.

Because it’s reversible, you can choose which side to show off. Would be super fun to make one side spring then other in summer fabrics or specific holidays even.

This bowl cover pattern is custom to the size of bowl you are making it for. How great is that!?

You can make multiple covers for different ...

The Wedding Quilt... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

We live along the Big Elk River...

When we rise in the morning,

we see the Elk through the fog,

grazing just outside the yard fence...

The Elk are calving right now and will

bring their calves into our hay fields in June...

Two winters ago an orphan elk calf took up

with our cow herd and ate hay right off

the hay truck when we fed each morning...

When you live in this little valley,

you learn to live with the elk...

Our neighbors are getting married in August...

They also live along the Big Elk River...

This Elk ...

A Small Garden Tour from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

I understand that no everyone has a desire to garden, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t think I’ve told this story on here before but I’ve thought about it so maybe I have. On our way to town, there’s a mobile home part and the mobile homes are pretty close and there isn’t...

Still Knitting from Lizzie Lenard Vintage Sewing

Well it's been a long time since I last posted, so long I daren't even look at the date of the previous post, but here I am, still busy with the knitting needles, and the sewing machine is still idle.  So in the short term, this will be a knitting blog, and will at some point in the not too distant future transform itself into a knitting and sewing blog.

We have just spent a few days staying with with my brother, and while we were there he presented me with a repair job - a jumper I made ...

Australian influence from - Barb Robson ::: quilter

I don’t think I have seen many Australian quilts designed by Australian quilters that I didn’t like…alot! My husband and I spent a year in Australia right after we got married 55 (!!) years ago. We shipped a trunk of belongings ahead and in it was a quilt, a “Friendship Circle” quilt (similar to a Dresden Plate) that my Grandmother made, probably in the 1930’s. I don’t know when it was given to me but it seemed to have been always in my room or on my bed or a chair. I don’t recall seeing ...

Pieces of My Life ~ Block #6 - Hours from Melva Loves Scraps

Welcome back to Melva Loves Scraps and the Pieces of My Life Sew Along! Block #6 is named "Hours".

I remember being asked about my age as a kid... the typical, "how old are you?"  I went through a phase of responding with a very precise "I am 7-1/2 (or 8-1/2) years old."  I must have recently become familiar with fractions (probably from baking cookies on Saturday mornings ;) and I once answered even more precisely that I was 8-3/4 years old. LOL! I remember that my brother made fun of me.  Apparently, every day counted for me ...

Paducah or Bust Part 2 from Humble Quilts

We spent Tuesday doing all we could to see everything before the show opened the next morning.
That included the National Quilt Museum.

I'm just sharing a few photos. They have several wonderful exhibits.

New Quilts From Old Favorites: Roaring Twenties

What a fun theme!

These next few were incredible and unfortunately I didn't get a photo of their tags.

The use of this fabric and squiggly lines was really effective. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the quilt1

This was a very small quilt made by Alice Tignor who is in the Humble Quilts group ...

Ruby Jubilee from The Colorful Fabricholic

The guild I still belong to in Missouri, Circle in the Square Quilters, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The symbol for 40 years is ruby. So, the guild is having a Ruby Jubilee challenge.

The challenge requirements are that it must be quilted and must either contain the color ruby, or have 40 of some element, or both. As an option, challenge quilts can be donated to Operation Shower, which hosts baby showers for military families, so the challenge quilt could be suitable for a baby quilt.

I opted to work with the color ruby. I threw in a little ...

May Challenges from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

May has come ..... the grass is green ..... things are starting to sprout up in the garden.

With May comes new challenges.

For the Chookshed Stitchers Challenge 2024, this is my UFO to work on.  This project dates back to 2014.  I took a class when my friend Debra came up to our guild and taught us this pattern.   The book is someplace and I will need to find it to figure out how to do the rest.  If not, then I will need to put on my thinking cap and figure it out!

I will also still work on my ...

April 2024 achievements from Just Sew Sue

Another light month for finishes but I have quilted four customer quilts, had a London hospital appointment which was a day trip, six days in France and I published my first pattern.

Our April project for our Guild UFO challenge was number 7 which for me was the September Cottage by Country Cottage Needleworks. I completed this early in the month.

I finished a class block from my trip to France into another mini quilt for SCBU. I need to follow up presenting our group's contributions again this week.

And last but by no means least, I finished a ...

Mammoth Cave National Park from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a beautiful day for our visit to Mammoth Cave National Park.

There’s a McDonald’s just down the road from the RV park…also a Kroger. Heck you could get just about any kind of fast food you want just a hoop and a holler from where we are. From there, we asked our Nav unit to take us to the national park. Maybe it was feeling in a good mood because it took us on a nice scenic road off the main highway. We saw some barns along the way.

Quilted and Bound from Adventurous Quilter

Basting my EPP Hexagon Quilt today was surprisingly bittersweet.
It's now time for a quick rinse:
I'm using the 'hand wash' setting
Then into the tumble dryer to get it crinkly, bubbly and snuggly!
Then it'll get hung on a quilt ladder (out of our 15 month old destructive puppy's reach) in our bedroom.

Churn Dash Quilt #5 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I was really hoping to have a second quilt to share today but I didn't get the binding sewn on in time.  My dog felt he needed to be snuggled more than he was getting.

I still had a few more of the big blue starred squares that were sent to me.  So I made a second quilt framing the smaller churn dashes with some red fabric and alternating them with the blue squares.
I really like how this layout looks.

This quilt measures 60 x 70"

Suzanne sent this blue and cream backing already sewn together.  That can ...

Stashbusters May from From My Carolina Home

It is time to check in again with our fabric purchases and completed projects. Are you on track this year? If so, great job! If not, we have many months to go to get on the side of more fabric out than in. Remember, it is fine to buy fabric now and then. This challenge just to keep us mindful to get what we need, but not go overboard.

I have not had much time to sew this past month. Between out of town trips, meetings, club events and appointments, I have not put thread into fabric for some weeks ...

FOCUS from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's incredible what we can accomplish when we focus. And with all the travel and so many things on the go, it's been hard to concentrate on my sewing projects.

After getting some paperwork done in the morning and the girls both had to go to the vet (ka-ching!), I was ready to buckle down to work. Something I hadn't done in weeks.

First, let's talk about the vet visit.

Both of them were extremely excited to be in the car, as they do not usually go anywhere in the car. Of course, they were happy ...
