The Last of the Strawberry’s from Quilts....etc.

Thank goodness, for a month now I have been picking strawberries and I’m so done with it – it wore me out!  What got picked yesterday was eaten for strawberry shortcake in the evening – with the few blueberries tossed in with the last of the pound cake slices I had frozen a month ago!  […]

Cross Stitch Update from Jo's Country Junction

I didn’t get a lot of stitching done this week. I’m still in my whirlwind that I promise to tell you about this week. I’ve got the all-clear to talk about it but now just need a couple of pictures to tell the story. In the meantime, you’ll have to make do with a cross-stitch …

Pieced Bouquet and Quilt of 8,066 Hexagons from The Chester County Criswell Quilt

The Pieced Bouquet pattern appeared in the New York Daily News on Monday, January 8th, 1934.

A late addition to quiltdom, this design is almost modern in character.  It can be varied by using a different print in each block, giving the quilt the appearance of an old-fashioned garden.  The border is made of strips of green and yellow.

A Day of Exhibitions on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

First of all - I want to apologize for the technical issues last week's link up had.  There was one on my end  - if the margins are off on the blog for some reason it affects everything.  Then, there was some weird issues going with InLinkz which seems to have been sorted out before the link up concluded.  I've been using InLinkz all these years and its very rare that they have technical issues.  If there are ever any issues or questions concerning linking up your blog post - please reach out - my email is ninamariesayre at g mail yada ...

A Quiet Day from Quilting My Way

This morning, I was up early. Kept waking up because of Patrick getting us serval times for the bathroom. Every time he has something deep fried, he pays for it. It's all his chemo issues. I'm not liking this chemo treatment; he's having more issues than before. He doesn't think so, but I see it wearing him out.

Ron and I walked today. We got in 4 laps. Then I came in to find Patrick falling asleep in his chair. I went downstairs to cut backing and batting for 2 quilt tops and one set for ...

Baby Goodies from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday! I have some personal projects to show for the first time in a long while. These baby gifts are for a few friends having little boys. I love making these 60 degree triangle quilts for babies, so simple and dramatic.  I like to choose a backing fabric and then pull fabrics for the front based on the colors in the backing. (You can see a couple others here.)

This family is honoring a grandfather who was a pilot, so mama-to-be especially loved the backing fabric. I was happy to use some sock-monkey fabric on the front that I ...

Mixture of Sun and Clouds on Free Motion Mavericks from Quilting & Learning

Hello! I hope that Spring has found you and that you have a little sunshine in your days. We've had lots of clouds and rain, but I've been busy making my own Suns and clouds in the studio, getting the second part of my Outdoor Hanging Sculpture ready.

Finished Suns

The three Suns are ready - there's Sunrise, Noon Sun and Sunset. They were finished so I hung them out in the back yard to see how they would do.

Crazy Thoughts from Adventurous Quilter

When I first created my English paper piecing tumbler templates for use with two inch fabric squares, I truly thought they might be too small and perhaps even impossible to piece. I was just focused on creating something that would help me use up a scrap stash of 2" squares that I knew I had already invested many hours in scrap cutting over the past decade plus!
But a couple of months later I am glad I took a chance and created the template and made a test tumbler:

They are actually quicker & easier to piece than the larger hexagons ...

Dear, Dear it’s Quilted 33, 34 from Virtual Quilter

I got sick of picking out blocks to use, so just added quilting motifs and love the results.

It would be interesting to see a lot more quilts with less piecing and applique and more quilting based on the pieced and applique blocks. Something to consider when I start another quilt!

What we’re working on from Eagle's Wings Quilts

We’ve been working on multiple projects at the Prayers and Squares group, as usual. And we’ve had a couple of finishes, or finishes up to the point of a fabric shopping trip for finishing border fabrics. This flying geese and woodland animals quilt is done.

Barbara and I have been working on a scrap quilt drawn from the 2 inch strip bin. It is finished to the stage of needing border and backing fabric. We didn’t find anything in our stash of fabrics, so it will go with us to a fabric shopping trip next week. At ...

Don’t Cry (Cross Stitch) from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

This chart arrived today. The chart is Don’t Cry Because It’s Over by Lizzie Kate. I wrote about how I found this chart in this post. If I have a blank spot on a piece of linen on a frame, I’m going to start this right away. I think it should be a fast stitch...

A New Fika Tote from Quilting Studio Adventures

Is this bag sweet or what?  It is a Fika Tote by Noodlehead.  It's 18' wide and 15' deep.  One side has two patch pockets.  The other side has a large zippered pocket, perfect for a notebook or papers. The inside has a series of pockets as well.

The biggest success of this bag are the two double-headed zippers, aka purse zippers.  Despite having yards of zipper tape and various zipper pulls, I always buy these zippers.  But this time I figured out how to do the double headed thing!  It involves offsetting the two sides of the zipper ...

Scraps, Purses, New/Old Projects from Quilting Studio Adventures

So much sewing.  But space has been limited.  The studio has been housing some overnight guests, one for two weeks, but all is back to normal again.  Because space was limited I worked with what I could get to:  scraps.

These four purses for Sew Powerful are from great niece Cassidy's shower quilt.  And the one in the left corner is from Sam's quilt.

The two below?  again, favorite scraps.  That's the last of the Periodic Table fabric.  I used a lot of that for masks.

These four dotty sisters have some of my favorite fabric for ...

Mother's Day from From the Strawberry Patch...

How did you spend your Mother's Day? We made a quick trip north to spend the day with my mother. As I've reported before, she's been having a tough time lately; health-wise. She's still in a care facility (as of today) and fighting as hard as she can to get back home again. Augie did what he could; he volunteered his services as a therapy dog.It must've worked because, after passing OT and PT
