zip it up from Making A Lather

I started a new block, recently, called Zipper. I saw it on sane, crazy crumby quilts, and, she referred to Klein meisje quilts

I wasn't sure I was going to start sewing these this year, but, I couldn't resist. I cut the pink for April's rsc color. And, the next thing I know, I am sewing them.

I have been cutting scraps for stashbuster block from Border Creek Station Pattern Company, but, this is my first block. The idea is to make 1 each week. I guess I am behind.

I spent a little time harvesting weeds ...

clam points and leaves ~ epp from Charm About You

curved English paper pieced shapes, modern fabrics epp leaves and points

I am excited to be writing about this make because it's such a fun and useful way to use English paper piecing shapes/blocks. I've made a new project bag and decorated it with epp. There are so many tips and tricks I can share with you; epp curves, light fabrics on dark backgrounds, neat applique top stitching and the awkwardness of metal bits on zips - oh I'm covering it all today!

Small zipper pouch tutorial from Quilt in Progress

String quilted zip pouch

The weather is warming up here in SW Missouri, and it will soon be auction time. We love to attend auctions to buy things we need, and even more things we don’t need but can’t resist. It’s a great way to get into collecting. I found out about vintage glassware makers and designs by paying attention to which ones bring higher bids, then researching them online.

Mostly I like to buy sewing machines. My favorite turn-around was when I purchased a Singer 99K. I bought it at auction as part of a 2-fer ...

Sunshine Crossbody Pouch from Becca's Crazy Projects

A friend mentioned the Sunshine Crossbody Pouch pattern from Bagstock Designs and I decided to give it a go. This is a free pattern with detailed instructions with color photos. You can also find a handful of step-by-step video tutorials on YouTube if you search for "sunshine crossbody pouch". I looked through my collection of vinyl, fat quarters from Spoonflower, and zips to come up with the perfect combination. This fabric Cephalopods world is still available on Spoonflower.
On Friday I cut out all the pieces. Fabric, interfacing, vinyl, all ready to go. I buy my zippers from Zipit Zippers ...

Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

Sometimes I will go through my collection of fabric, pull out a few, and get stitching. Here is a stack of fabric I pulled last week. What did I make? Well, a bunch of things.
I used this fun camper fabric and a zipper from ZipIt on Etsy (they are taking a break right now but they are my favorite zipper vendor) to make a pillow case for my travel pillow.
Definitely going with me when we can travel more freely again.
I used the free pattern from the Green Bag Lady to cut out nine totes. These are quick ...

Call Me Badge Holder from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last week I shared my first Call Me badge holder. Saturday I grabbed some fabrics to make a couple more. This time, I used this fun tentacle print from Spoonflower.
Darling Husband wanted something bright and difficult to miss. I think this hit the mark.
This one is a little wider than the first one I made and I'm super pleased with how it turned out.
Now he will be ready the next time we get to attend a convention.
I made myself a slightly larger one, too. I love the happy crab and jellyfish!

Tools and supplies (af ...

So Many Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

After getting the 72 slot cylinder for my circular sock knitting machine I have been working on holiday gifts. The 64 slot is perfect for socks for my small, narrow feet, but I know so many people with human-sized feet. This is the pair of monster socks I knit up. It's nice to use up those little odds and ends leftover from making matching socks.
There was some coffee along the way, too.
I even finished up this tiny sock knit on the machine. This sock is worked bck and forth on about 24 stitches and is seamed up ...
