Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last week I cranked two pair of socks. First up was this great yarn from Knitterly Things. Such great colors in the Vesper Sock Yarn Club. This is the December 2021 colorway Woodsy.
The semi-solid for the toes and heels is just perfect!
These bright socks were made using Activ yarn I purchased from CSM Supplies. If you want to knit with yarn from a cone and have hard-wearing socks, this is the yarn for you. Color choices are constantly changing. I would buy one of each if I wasn't already drowning in yarn.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Here are the October and November 2021 Vesper Sock Yarn Club yarns. Such fun colors. I'm always pleased with the mini skein for contrast heels and toes.
All caked and ready to go. Those that follow my blog know I posted the October socks a little while ago. Check out this post from February 2021 to see those socks.
I love every pair of socks I make.
There they are! Almost finished. All that remains is closing up the toes and they will be ready for feet.

Split Decision Finish from Becca's Crazy Projects

Finished my Split Decision Hat by Shanalines Designs (Ravelry link). I shared about this project a few weeks ago in this post from February 4th
This was a fun pattern with a different construction technique that was fun to learn.
I'm sure I will make another. Maybe with more of a marled effect. I'll let you know how it works out.

Yarn includes leftover sock yarn from Knit PicksUneek Sock, and Into the Whirled

Getting Projects Moving. from Sunburnt Quilts

Happy February. The year is moving along. I have been working on several projects and they are close to a finish. I am also spending a lot of time getting the preparation work done for a few more.

The trees for The Avenue are completed and are ready to come together. I played with several layouts and they have been sewn together. But this photo is from when the blocks were still being rearranged.

Since then I have added a couple of borders and it is waiting to be quilted.

The weather has been warm but I have continued with ...

Warm Knitting from Becca's Crazy Projects

I started a new hand knit project this week. It isn't much to look at now but it will become a delightful hat. This is the Split Decision Hat by Shanalines Designs (Ravelry link). I picked it up a while back and hadn't tried it yet. I saw one of their designs on Instagram and decided it was time to get knitting. I like designs that have unconventional construction techniques and this is one of those designs. I'm sure it will look more like a hat when you see it next.

Yarn includes leftover sock yarn from ...

Always Looking For Best Places To Showcase My Quilts from Quilts + Color

I realized the quilt I had hanging on the back of my standing post office desk had been there for quite some time.

I decided to find something else to hang there and this was close to me as I had recently finished it.

Yes, if you follow my blog you just saw it.

The size of this one is perfect and I love how it looks with my crocks of yarn.

Crochet Crazy - Friday Finish from Becca's Crazy Projects

I finished my Granny Poncho!
I can wear it with the points on the side.
Or with the points front and back. Overall, a great finish. The yarn worked out perfectly for this on. 300 grams of Knit Picks Stroll.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

When I make Monster Socks I'm never quite sure how they will turn out.
I grabbed my brightest speckle and some self-striping with black and pink, pulled in some Knit Picks Stroll in Pucker and Highlighter, and made these beauties. I love Stroll for socks and other accessories. So soft.
I also added yellow toes to this pair made with Activ yarn (color: Colorado) I purchased from CSM Supplies. I would buy all the colors if I could.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

This wonderful yarn from Knitterly Things has waited long enough. While I do enjoy a good bargain, I also like to support small business when I can. Both of these were part of the Knitterly Things Fall Sock Club. If you have the ability I highly recommend joining the club at least once. You can learn more by checking out the Vesper Sock Yarn Club 2022 page. I am seriously considering signing up for the next one.
I love this look down into the sock.
All that's left is to knit the toes closed with the Kitchener Stitch. I ...

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

I continue to make solid progress on my granny poncho. I try to take a photo every day or two. This is from after I finished the first ball of yarn.
Each new color is a joy to hook.
I'm almost to the end of the second ball of yarn. I'm not sure it will be all that big but I'm excited about it anyway. Have you started any new crochet projects this year?

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

I dyed this Bare Stroll Fingering a few years ago. The basic idea is a gradient that runs through several colors, each color run becoming longer than the last. This should make the colors balanced in something like a shawl or poncho. I decided it was time to get started. I came across this Simple Poncho pattern on Ravelry and it inspired me to get stitching. I would tell you I used the pattern, but I didn't get to through the foundation chain before I changed something.
Still a simple design to start with if you want to use ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I was looking at a pair of socks I knit using Regia Pairfect and decided to try a similar effect. These were made using three different yarns. Knit Picks Stroll Tweed for the cuff, heel, toe, and foot. The striping yarn is Knit Picks Felici Sock Yarn. The third yarn is Knit Picks Bare Stroll Fingering that I dyed a couple years ago. I really enjoy using Knit Picks yarn and the price point is somewhere between inexpensive and hand-dyed. Give them a try if you are looking for something like this. Overall, this experiment was a success. I'm ...

Welcome to 2022 from Becca's Crazy Projects

I want to start off the new year with a review of what I did in 2021.
I quilted a total of 76 charity quilts in 2021. That exceeded my personal goal of 52 in a calendar year. This scrappy quilt is just one.
I made so many pairs of socks. These are likely my favorite because I made them using leftovers of Thick Sock from Knitterly Things. And, they are for me. Now that winter has arrived in the northern hemisphere I get to wear my wool socks every day and that's just wonderful!
I bought so much ...

Sock Club from Becca's Crazy Projects

I was so pleased with my last Vesper Sock Yarn Club from Knitterly Things that I decided to sign up for the fall club. I went with the 'Classic Sock', a 80/20 Superwash Merino & Nylon 2ply, and the Mini Skein Option. I love the little skeins of coordinating yarn to work the heels and toes.
I wound up the skeins into balls and I'm ready to get cranking. I may need to buy another
Monster Socks Yarn Kit from Knitterly Things because I may need another pair of monster socks.

Monster Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Since last week I have accomplished exactly one thing. I made this pair of socks. Four different yarns (two solids and three self-striping) were used to make these Monster Socks. That is it. I guess I've been taking time to do other things. What have you been up to?

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Perhaps no one needs a pair of super colorful monster socks. Perhaps I need those socks.
Every time I knit a pair of these I remember why I love making them so much. The colors are just such a delight. Yarn is thick sock from Knitterly Things. Check them out for self-striping yarns as well as kits to make your very own pair of monster socks

Early Mid-Winter Surprise from Becca's Crazy Projects

For mid-winter my friends sent me a gift certificate for Knit Picks. Since it came in time to meet the Black Friday sale I used it right away. Yesterday, that box of wonder landed on my front porch.
I bought the current colors of Felici in fingering weight. Because I love mixing up this self-striping yarn with other self-striping yarn and Stroll solids (which I also bought). I love how they rotate through the colors, always offering something new. You could buy new colors several times a year and have more socks than you would need in a rainbow of ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been cranking out socks with my new yarn. This pink is so much fun.
I'm trying some contrast toes. I think the next pair will have pink toes.
This colorway is a nice change.
Here is a contrast toe. It still amazes me how I can shape the toe on the machine.
Now to Kitchener stitch the toes closed and get them ready for gifting.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I recently ordered yarn from CSM Supplies. I like buying from Jamie because she always makes the transaction special. I didn't really need more sock yarn but I wanted more options for holiday sock giving.
I ordered three new colorways and coordinating solids. I like making contrast toes so you can pair them up using the toe colors.
First was this fun colorway paired with blue.
Then this one that I had from a previous order paired with pink.
I still transfer the live stitches onto a pair of short circular needles and finish each sock by hand using ...
