instagram frolic from Making A Lather

I don't like instagram, but everyone else does. The new quiltville mystery quilt, frolic, will be linking up on instagram instead of blog today. When I look at instagram, I feel like I am looking at someone's vacation slides - boring. There is no substance or information to make it interesting.
I did find myself unmotivated to even start this mystery. This will be my 19th quiltville mystery quilt. I have a page of all of them here. I am glad I broke into it.  I have clue one finished. I had all the blue strips already in the ...

more courthouse steps blocks from Making A Lather

I am starting to see what this wonky courthouse steps quilt will look like when finished. I am joining squares together in sections to make it easier to assemble. More here.
I have really enjoyed making this quilt in the evening when it is dark and cold. It adds a little bright. It is s free pattern from Bonnie Hunter at quiltvile.

I have November and December swap blocks sewn and ready to trim. Which means I am finished with the swap. It will be a top priority for next year to assemble the quilt. I hope. More here

woven from Making A Lather

At friday quilt group, I had a chance to layout the woven checkerboard quilt on the floor. Cynthia of Quilting is more fun than housework, had made this quilt last year and I really liked it. I have been making the double 4 patch as part of the rainbow scrap challenge this year. It is time to actually sew it together.

I also started putting the wonky courthouse square together in 4s. I can't wait to finish it. It is using up bits and bobs of scraps.

garden party corner from Making A Lather

I've made progress on assembling garden party. I have the second corner ready. I have everything else ready, it's time to do the long rows assembly, and see it together. First corner here.

I have been distracted by bonnie hunter's new free pattern wonky courthouse square. They are very fun to make. I am treadling the blocks every chance I get.

The butterfly bush is still holding onto it's fall color despite the snow.

tiny blocks from Making A Lather

I think these blocks are so cute. I made these last week for the tiny Tuesday sampler from the rainbow scrap challenge. I am a little behind in my blocks.

I am enjoying sewing the wonky courthouse blocks in the evening at my treadle. As long as I have the strips in the right size, I can get them done quickly. I often run out of neutral strips, and then, I have to go on a scavenger hunt to find more of them.

Today is a beautiful fall day with actual sunshine, and I have a quilt group meeting tonight ...

courthouse from Making A Lather

I really had no intention of starting another "string" project, but, I did want to clean the treadle area from the last one. As I picked up the strings all over the place, I just sort of started sewing them like the new Bonnie Hunter wonky courthouse steps. Oh my, they are fun. She is offering this pattern as a freebie and it is downloadable on her site.

I am making mine really stringy and scrappy with leftovers from the mess I have made "stringing" before this.

I just needed to trim a few to get an idea of the ...
