Popcorn pouches and other things from The Crafty Quilter

I recently made some pouches, Popcorn Pouches to be specific. These cute little projects were super fast and easy to make. I saw them on Instagram one day last week, bought the pattern, and made two of them the very next day (in two hours). And one more since then! The pattern is by Amista Baker at Hilltop Custom Designs and comes as a pdf download.

A new mug rug, a new sewing room and baby Clara from The Crafty Quilter

Happy Friday!  I have so many things to show you today – there’s a little bit of everything here.  A new mug rug that I made for someone special, a new sewing room that is keeping me very busy, a quick little tip, and my baby granddaughter, Clara, turned one!

The designer that I worked with for our remodel was wonderful and I wanted to make her something special as a thank you.  Since she loves to drink tea, I thought a new mug rug would be perfect.  I designed this one to resemble the tile floor in our bathroom ...

Wednesday happenings from The Crafty Quilter

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Have you recovered from Daylight Saving Time yet?  The mornings are a little rough at the start for me.  In California, the sun is finally shining and the temperatures are slowly rising.  I pulled weeds yesterday and enjoyed my first spring visit to my neglected yard.  Cooper has already started hunting for lizards in the hopes of catching one before it realizes that “hunting” season has begun!

Cooper on a spring day!

On top of all that, I should have one functioning bathroom in about a week!  My sewing room is starting to take shape, too.  It will be ready to move ...

Piecing projects and other things from The Crafty Quilter

For those of you in North America, I hope you’re staying warm inside while the temperatures are at their lowest outside.  In Northern California, we’re expecting a typical winter day with highs around 60 and rain coming this weekend.  I’m spoiled – I know!

I’m slowly progressing on some piecing projects (my favorite) that are ongoing.  I’m catching up on The Patchsmith’s Sampler Blocks as the sew along is reaching it’s end.  There are a total of (50) 6″ blocks, and I’ve made about 30 of them.  The most recent two are the ...

WIP for Wednesday and Craftsy becomes Bluprint from The Crafty Quilter

I’m so happy that I actually have a WIP (work in process) for Wednesday to show you!  I finished this quilt top from a 2013 block of the month (Fat Quarter Shop Mystery BOM).  I only needed to add the final border and piece the backing for it.  Now it’s off to the longarm quilter!

WIP Wednesday: my 2013 Fat Quarter Shop Mystery BOM quilt top is finished @ The Crafty Quilter

This quilt came as a kit each month and each row has a different theme.  You’ll find baskets, stars, houses and flowers.  Such a happy quilt!

A little show & tell and keeping up with BOM’s from The Crafty Quilter

One of my favorite things about some of the monthly quilting groups that I belong to is the show & tell time.  I love seeing what everyone is working on, and I’m often inspired to create something based on what has been shared.

Here on my blog, I often share my progress of BOM projects, quilts that I’m working on, and other various projects.  So today, I have a little show & tell for you!

I am a sucker for a good block of the month or sew along, so I have many that I’m participating in – both online ...

Wednesday WIP’s from The Crafty Quilter

I have so many Wednesday WIP’s (works in progress) that it’s a little embarrassing.  I’m trying to prioritize, but it seems like they’re all tugging at me and saying “pick me!”.

Let me start with my Summer Fun quilt which is under my sewing machine right now.  I have a partial plan for the quilting.  I used my iPad and Procreate (which is a digital illustration App) to draw a quilting plan.  If you have an iPad Pro, you should consider this app.  It costs $10 and it’s worth every penny.  The expensive part is ...

June WIP’s from The Crafty Quilter

June WIP’s are here, but can someone slow down the calendar?  June is already more than half-way gone.  The Zen thing to do would be to enjoy this moment.  Yes, as I sip on my green tea and type these words, I am enjoying each day and each click of the keyboard.  I’ll be grilling hamburgers in the backyard in just a few hours!

I’m staying on target with my quilt alongs and block of the weeks, months, etc.  I have three lovely blocks finished for The Patchsmith’s Sampler Sew Along.  I love rummaging through my ...

WIPs with Friends Thursday from Mama Spark's World

Sorry for missing WIP Wednesday but I was out of town.   My sister was having some surgery and I had to be there to make sure she was alright.   I was and she was so here we are on WIP Thursday instead. I am freaking out a little bit about all of the commitments I have for this month.   What is wrong with me?  I know the word no but rarely use it, LOL.   So what have I been working on?

Sew many quilt blocks! from The Crafty Quilter

I promised that I would share my many quilt blocks from the various BOM’s and QAL’s I’ve joined (it seemed like a good idea at the time), so here we go!

The Quilter’s Planner block for this month was so much fun, and I’m beginning to love them more when they’re all grouped together.  Remember, I’m making them two sizes smaller than the original 12″ block pattern.  So, mine are 6″ and 3″ finished.  Sew cute and tiny!

Wednesday WIP’s from The Crafty Quilter

This seems like a good day to share some Wednesday WIP’s with you all.  The biggest work in process at the moment is our next granddaughter whose arrival date is today!  This picture of our daughter, Kelly, and Amelia was taken 25 days ago, but I photo-shopped the number to zero.  Baby sister has only gotten bigger and more active since then.

Kelly and Amelia Cutbirth waiting for baby sister to arrive!

I’ll let you know as soon as she arrives.  For now, everyone is waiting patiently (well, you know, kind of).  Spring has arrived in Texas and someone is ready for baseball season….

I am working on ...

Jacob’s Super Block from Hobbies Up To Here

I recently finished the top to Jake’s Marvel Quilt. All 48 blocks are done! My son is thrilled to have this top down and to be that much closer to having his very own full sized quilt done. As I shared this WIP, I had a lot of friends and fellow quilters ask me where … Continue reading Jacob’s Super Block

A finished top! from Ramblings of a Fabric Obsessor

I meant to post this yesterday, but I ended up working from home and tried to get so much done in the time that I was online and then I went to a new local meeting of long armers and by the time I got home, I was too pooped to even sew! So I am posting my January OMG update, my WIP Wednesday, my January UFO finish... So many blogs to link to! Let's start with the January One Month Goals. Here

WIP Wednesday - step 5 and blocks from Ramblings of a Fabric Obsessor

The blowers and dehumidifiers have been removed from the premises! Woo hoo! And I am so happy to say that it is quiet! Nice and quiet! Sunday afternoon and evening, I got a lot done on the Road to Llano quilt. Done with step 5 at this point! But I don't want to stop working on it. Steps 6 and 7 look fairly quick and easy... I also finished assembling these blocks and got them trimmed. The

WIP Wednesday - minimal progress from Ramblings of a Fabric Obsessor

Well, this week has so far been a bust for me. I will share some pics in my next post when I hopefully will have a bit more info, but I will just say that I am dealing with some plumbing issues at my house. I was able to get the squares cut for my Road to Llano quilt and these will be used in steps 3 and 4, just as a start. I'm hoping to get step 3 done sometimes this weekend. And I am

WIP Wednesday - Still lots going on! from Charly & Ben's Crafty Corner

Keeping up a blog relies as much on habit as it does on making things to show but sometimes, the time it takes to write up a blog post, is lost to fun things like visiting family home for a month, secret sewing projects for new classes & workshops, designs for publication and guild work and the not so fun things like cleaning the house, reactions to the flu jab and ironing the clothes!

Having said all that, I feel the pull to the blog very strongly every now and again as the act of writing about WIP's and design ...

Short On The Borders from Hobbies Up To Here

At the beginning of this year, my mom and I agreed that 2017 should be the year of finishes. We had enough projects going to last us a lifetime and we needed to get some of that work done! Well I’ve sorta lived up to my word. I did finish my husband’s quilt not too … Continue reading Short On The Borders

WIP Wednesday – stuck in the binding phase from The Crafty Quilter

It’s been a while since I’ve done a WIP (work in progress) blog post.  Right now I’m in between projects, and I thought I’d see what unfinished quilts I had to work on.  (Was that an oxymoron?)  It seems I’m stuck in the binding phase of five quilts!  Eeek!  I had no idea.
