WIP’s and more from The Crafty Quilter

I feel like I should call this blog post “WIP’s and more WIP’s” or “The Battle of the WIP’s”. I have a growing number of works in process, but I’m enjoying myself immensely. So it’s not really a battle of WIP’s but a battle of time. I know we can all relate!

I’m co-teaching a block of the month class (via Zoom) and it’s getting towards the end of the year. This means I need to get all of my blocks sewn together, finish up the applique borders and… you know the ...

Pillows and WIP’s and summer! from The Crafty Quilter

Hey everyone! I’ve been away from the computer for a while, but busy in the sewing room and the kitchen. We’re almost at the halfway point on the calendar year. The first day of summer is in a few days! How did that happen? I feel like I should have a lot to show for my time spent at home these past few months. But no. I think I’m creating more UFO’s than finishing the ones I already have.

I did just finish two 16″ pillows for my granddaughters. These were quick to make, and they ...

Projects and UFO’s and cooking from The Crafty Quilter

We are still sheltering in place here in Northern California. All this time at home finds me knee deep in sewing projects, UFO’s and cooking in the kitchen – all the things!

I wanted something easy and fun to do in my sewing room, so I decided to catch up with the Silver Linings Free Sew Along with Jacquelynne Steves. You can still sign up for this one and it’s perfect for beginners. This will be a small project that includes twelve 6″ blocks with optional embroidery squares to add in. The first three blocks have been released and ...

Wednesday Work in Progress: Mystery Quilt from Patchwork Sampler Blog

The brick and mortar Patchwork Sampler shop offered dozens of mystery quilts over the years. So many, in fact, that I still have many mysteries in the UFO bins. In April I finished piecing a Debbie Caffrey mystery called Seams Like Yesterday. It was the perfect project for these times. I don’t know about you, but I am having a hard time concentrating on a project. My mind wanders and I jump from one thing to another. I think about my kids and how the pandemic is affecting them and even the impact it will have on my grandkids ...

Face mask pattern updates and a finished quilt top from The Crafty Quilter

There is a silver lining to most everything and one of them is all of the new followers to my blog. Thank you for joining me here! It’s been a week full of face mask activity and I wanted to let you know that I have made some face mask pattern updates. I also finished a quilt top in one week!

Face mask pattern updates

I have created a downloadable face mask pattern that includes the instructions and the templates. You can find that on the original blog post or for your convenience, you can download it here:

Baby quilt and a grand prize giveaway from The Crafty Quilter

I’m making good progress on my grandson’s baby quilt. I’ve got the quilt top finished and it’s now marked and basted. I love it already!

Benjamin’s baby quilt

Baby Quilt for Benjamin made by Julie Cefalu @ The Crafty Quilter. Pattern is Glacier by QLT Studio.

This pattern, Glacier, really lends itself to straight line quilting. I’m using the diagonal lines of the pattern to determine the direction and spacing of my lines. I love using blue water erasable markers to mark my stitching lines. You can find my favorite markers here.

The lines are faint, so you might not see them well in the photo below. I’ve also added Benjamin ...

2016 Finish Along {Q1 Goals} from Never Just Jennifer

Looking back on my 2015 finish along goals, I didn't do so hot.  Sure I got a lot finished in Q1 but not much of what was on my list.  In Q2 I did much better at following and finishing what was on my list.  I didn't even manage a list for Q3 or Q4.  Check out all of my posts related to last years finish along here.

I'm aiming to be much better this year though.  I have some big plans for that long WIP list from last year.  So let's get down to it ...
