A Visit to Burntshirt Vineyards from From My Carolina Home

Our car club has been fairly active this summer, and there just hasn’t been time to show all the fun drives we have taken. This one was special because of the gorgeous scenery at the winery. Burntshirt Vineyards and Winery is named for a mountain legend. In days past, the farmers would burn their fields to clear the land for planting, and in the process, toss their shirts into the fire for good luck. North Carolina is becoming known for wine making, as the land and climate are wonderful for grape growing.

Crazy Quilts at the Virginia Quilt Museum from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

Last week, Kara and I (Teri) decided that we needed to go on one last road trip before her departure to Germany. It will surely not be our last, but we will doubtfully get much travel in before she leaves the country. Our destination was Harrisonburg, Virginia. I had told her how much I enjoyed my visit to the Virginia Quilt Museum (VQM) in the fall, and we wanted to see Debby Cooney's exhibit on appliqué (more to come on that next week), so that seemed like a good place to start. We planned to check out a few ...

Another taste of French Life! from Celtic Thistle Stitches

Shopping in France in the Summer was all about the markets and their tempting piles of fruit and vegetables, but shopping in France at this time of year has a very different flavour!

In October we are here to replenish our wine stocks, and now that we have a proper cellar in our new home that is a serious business indeed :)

We could, of course, just head to the local supermarket and browse the shelves but it is much more fun to visit the vineyards and buy directly from the producers.

I am sure it adds to the flavour to ...

Quilt Shops and Wineries, it’s a Beautiful Life from Adele Mogavero

My husband and I have talked about growing grapes to make wine…not that we have the space to grow a lot, but it sounds like a fun little hobby for someday.

With that thought in mind, we ventured out this week to visit a couple of New England Wineries.

One happened to be in Meredith NH, and as a quilter, you just can’t go the Meredith NH without taking a drive to Center Harbor and visiting Keepsake quilting.

That’s when I came up with this splendid thought for our Vacation.

If there is one winery (or brewery ...
