Since we were on vacation last week and out of town, I didn't get a lot of time in my sewing room. I adjusted my to do list for last week accordingly. It was pretty short.

It wasn't the worst week on the stitching front, but I did lose the better part of one day to a allergies/cold and another day to hanging out with My Guy. He is taking a few days off work this week so we'll be out doing fun stuff during the days. Which means the sewing room won't see quite as much of me this week. Before getting to what that means for this week's to do list, I should fess up what happened with last week's to do list.

read moreIs it really the last day in September? That just doesn't seem possible. It was a fast moving summer. If this year stays true to the past, the last three months will go equally fast. There's nothing I can do on that front, so best to look at how I did with last week's to do list.
To Do List for 9/23/2025
1. 2025 BOM: Finish November and start December - progress
2. Magnificent Mystery: Start September clue - no progress
3. Old Town: Continue piecing blocks at late night sew ✔
4. Wild and Goose: Continue making ...
read moreLast week's to do list started off with big plans, but they weren't to be as is often the case, real life had other plans. My mother is doing much better. She switched doctors last month and the new one found and treated at least one of the causes of her back pain her previous doctor completely ignored. She's just not healing as fast as she'd hoped and needed some help getting a few things off her to do list. I still managed to make a lot of progress my list.

read moreLooking back at my blog, my last to do list was posted over a month ago. Life's been busy with getting Grad Girl set up in her new situation. I'm going to need a new blog nick name for her since she's not a graduate student any more. I'm sure we'll come up with something suitable that she can tolerate.
July was a busy month. I was away from home for over a week helping Grad Girl move. So there's not a lot of progress to report for the July PHD report over at Ms. P Designs.
There are no updates to my PHD log. No finishes, but no new starts either. I can at least celebrate that! There has been progress on some other projects this month.
There's been a bit of progress on the Rose Throw counted cross stitch project. I just didn't feel like doing much handwork this month. Does it look like a ...
read moreWe've been enjoying a bit of cooler weather the last few days. It was a nice start to August. I'm still working on getting used to my new schedule. Grad Girl takes care of herself, but the keeping the cat happy still takes a bit of work. Though neither affected my time in the sewing room this last week, but for some reason I struggled with my to do list.
I'm a day late posting this week's to do list. We are still working with uncertain scheduling since Grad Girl and Queenie moved home. Grad Girl left yesterday morning for Houston. She has two job interviews this week. Which means I'm on kitty babysitting duty, that includes at least 30 minutes to an hour of outside time in the morning. She's used to having access to a third floor balcony to observe life from. We have a fenced backyard, but Queenie is far from an outside cat and we're not sure she'd stay in ...
read moreIt's been two weeks since my last to do list post. Between being way to busy packing and moving Grad Girl, plus the lack of Internet, putting a list together last week just didn't happen. So here's the progress on my last to do list.
To Do List for 07/08/2025

2. Old Town: Continue assembly at late night sew ✔
3. Wild and Goosey: Make purple, sash red blocks ✔
4. Embroidery or Cross Stitch: Work on one night ✔
5. Summer Scrap Quilt: Continue as leaders and enders ✔

read moreIt was a busy weekend and though I got my stitching time in most days, I was still busy enough that it was hard to get to everything on last week's to do list.
Secret projects didn't used to be very common in my sewing room. But with taking on the block of the month program for the guild, I don't feel like I can share much of that sewing till I've showed it at the guild meeting. Getting a bit ahead has been my focus for the last month, so there's not much else going on in the sewing room. If I take off all the bits and pieces of the BOM off my sewing table, here's what's left.
Hard to believe we are half way through 2025. Now that it's July it's time to take another look at my progress with the June PHD report over at Ms. P Designs.
I've not done so well on the finishing up front, but I have been making steady progress on several other projects.
While cleaning up the sewing room, I found a very old counted cross stitch throw started back in college. It's been added to my traveling handwork projects. Not a lot of progress on this, but at least there's been some. I'd ...
read moreThe year is half over. I'm always amazed at how quickly we get to this point. We were in Crown Center in Kansas City last week for a conference. The Hallmark store there was setting up for this year's ornament display. Christmas will be here before most of us are ready I'm sure.
Do you ever look at your calendar and realize that you don't really have that much time to get ready for something? Grad Girl will be moving home next month. She's been applying for jobs and has had one video interview so far. With the current job market, she's probably going to be here for at least a month, likely 2 to 3 before she finds a full time chemist job. I've been using her old closet as storage for some of my quilting supplies, I'm going to have to find someplace else because she ...
read moreLaundry and household chores are my prime focus this week after not doing much of either last week. Shirking my housekeeping duties last week let me take advantage of the return of the sewing mojo. That shows up clearly in the progress with last week's to do list.
May went fast! It didn't help that at about the halfway mark my sewing mojo disappeared. So not as much progress as I would have liked for the month. But there is still a bit to report for the May PHD report over at Ms. P Designs.
Finally a finish shows up on the PHD report, along with a new unplanned project. The finish is a project started this year, so there is still no progress on the UFO column.
The 2025 SAHRR, aka Stars in a Derecho Sky, (Quilting Gail) was my finish for May. Trudy, who has ...
read moreWe were in Texas all last week to attend Grad Girl's thesis defense and then just hang out with her afterwards for a bit of a celebration. Poor girl hasn't had a real vacation in over a year. The presentation of her work was public, so we were able to attend that. Afterwards we waited in the hallway while she took questions from her committee.
April seemed to move in slow motion till the middle of the month, but the last couple of weeks went fast. So I'm not ready for it to be May. But since it is, it's time to take a look at where I'm at with my quest for a PHD and link up with Ms P Designs for the April PHD report. On first glance it's a bit sad, there has been no change in my PHD report since January.
I saw a meme on Instagram stating that someone should pour out Mother Nature's beer while she's doing all 4 seasons in 24 hours cause she's drunk enough. I'm sure there are a lot in the US that agree with that sentiment. Hopefully we'll actually see some spring weather this week (without tornadoes and floods would be nice).
It was a good week to hang out in the sewing room and work on last week's to do list.
To Do List for 04/01/2025
1. 2025 SAHRR: Trim backing, start quilt top prep ...
read moreWe are a few days into April so it's time to look back at what got done last month and post a March PHD report and join the linky party over at Ms P Designs USA. I appreciate these monthly look backs, especially when I have no finishes. It helps me remember that I did actually do stuff even though there are no updates to my PHD tracking sheet.
No new starts either, so I'm at least not adding to my UFO list yet. There was some good progress on several projects this month.
