Where We Are Published: From Extra to Extraordinary from Jo's Country Junction

Have you seen the latest issue of Quilter’s World?  It’s the fall 2022 issue.  Can you believe a fall issue is coming out already?  I’m here in Iowa trying everything I can do to hold on to summer.

The cover quilt really speaks fall…complete with pumpkins.  Isn’t it a pretty quilt?

Here the quilt is hanging outside at my house.

Just inside the cover is a sneak peek of our quilt Extra to Extraordinary.  In the editor’s letter, Carolyn told the story of the quilt…for a few of you, this is really our ...

Where We are Published: Scrappy Delight from Jo's Country Junction

Hey…have you seen the latest issue of Quilts and More?  It’s the Summer 2022 issue.  This is what the cover looks like.

Here is our project…

Here’s the spread…

Does the quilt look familiar to you?  It might.  We had this quilt in our shot as a down load.  Kelli and I made this quilt back in about 2016 or so when we contemplated possibly writing another quilt book.

We both just loved this quilt…we loved the simple quick design…and super easy as it started out with squares.

It was windy when I was snapping ...

It’s the February 2022 issue.  You can start trying to find it on the newsstands now.

Of course this quilt has a story…don’t all of the quilts I design have a back story?  This one certainly does.  Grab a cup of coffee or drink and read on…

First off, this quilt was inspired by a vintage quilt I found when Kalissa and I were out and ...

Remember those crazy first months of the year when we had a whole bunch of quilts accepted by American Patchwork and Quilting and I was sewing like a crazy fool??  Well, first came the Halloween Hoopla quilt that was in last month’s magazine.  Now it’s our Christmas quilt.  Here it is…

You can find it in the December 2021 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.

This one was fun to make and was actually pretty quick to make.

These are the clips from the magazine.

Ask Jo: Question on the Halloween Quilt from Jo's Country Junction

Hello…
Thanks so much for the wonderful response to our Halloween quilt, Halloween Hoopla, that is published in the current, October 2021 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.

I’ve gotten quite a few questions related to the quilt so I thought I would get to them all.

First off…from Laura K:
“I absolutely love this pattern. Where can I purchase it?”

The quilt pattern is in the current issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.  This issue.

For me, our Walmart and our grocery store regularly stock this magazine.

Next up…the packages of Halloween fabric.  Remember I had ...

Where We Are Published: American Patchwork and Quilting from Jo's Country Junction

At last.  It’s the quilt you call have been waiting for!!  It’s our Halloween Hoopla quilt and it’s featured in American Patchwork and Quilting.

Do you all remember last January when I put out a plea asking for help?  I know I sure do!

Let’s start this story at the beginning…

I had submitted a quilt to American Patchwork and Quilting.  It was this quilt…I had made it for a family friend as a wedding present.  I really liked the quilt and I submitted it to American Patchwork and Quilting.  Jodie messaged us back and ...

Have you seen the latest edition of Quilter’s World?  If you haven’t, I have some news to share.  Hot off the press is our quilt, Bow Tie Bliss.  Well, actually QUILTS…let me explain.

In the Autumn 2021 edition, our Bow Tie Bliss quilt is featured.  But…we made two versions.  Kelli and I made this quilt some time ago.  We made it under wraps and didn’t share anything about it.  It’s so long ago that I don’t remember which one of us sewed it.  I think Kelli did the large version and I did ...

Where We’re Published: Quilter’s World from Jo's Country Junction

Check the newsstands if you want to see out the latest quilt.  The magazine you’ll want to look for is Quilter’s World, Summer 2021 edition.

Our quilt is called Star Crossed Lovers.  The quilt started out several years ago.  At the time, Quiltmaker had a magazine that came out Spring and Fall call Quiltmaker’s 100 blocks.  They would ask designers to submit 12″ blocks.  Well, this is the block we submitted.

That block stayed on my brain and finally I put it together into this quilt…

It doesn’t look like the same block at all, does ...

OOPS…I forgot to include the link.  CLICK HERE to order.

I have something fun to show you…my quilt!!

What do you think?  It’s totally not my normal quilt at all.  This was a big venture for me as I typically don’t make “fussy” quilts and this was a little fussier than I am used to.  I do love it and I did have a ton of fun making it.

Here’s the back story:
Back in July the people at Annie’s Publishing contacted me and asked if I would be interested in submitting a design ...

Where We Are Published: Azure Skies from Jo's Country Junction

Have you gotten your latest issue of American Patchwork and Quilting?  The cover looks like this…

It is the December 2020 issue.

We happen to have a quilt in the magazine.  This one….

This quilt has such humble beginnings….

Do you remember the story?

It was nap time at childcare back in February of this year and I got to thinking about what things I have lined up that I need quilts for.  I looked at the UFOs that blog reader Roxanna had sent and I pulled these half square triangles thinking that I would just count them and see ...

Kelli and I are super excited about this issue because we have not only one but TWO quilts in the magazine….

This is Fun and Games…
You might remember around Christmas time I was playing with a box of leftovers and scraps a blog reader sent me.  I ended up creating this quilt with it.  Someone asked me how I picked yellow…I didn’t.  The leftover half square triangles were from the blog reader.  She ...

Where We’re Published: American Patchwork and Quilting from Jo's Country Junction

We have a quilt in a magazine again.  We’ve been on a bit of a roll.

It’s in this edition of American Patchwork and Quilting- April 2020.  It hit the newstand on February 7th so if you’re interested, keep your eye out of a copy.

I am in love with the cover quilt.  Doesn’t that look “so me”….but again, it’s a quilt I’d make for myself so it gets put on the back burner.  I read that this quilt is going to be the quilt along quilt.  So if you want to make ...

What I love best though…is this…

It’s our quilt Playtime.  If you’re a long time reader you might recognize this quilt.  I made it with the intention of gifting it to Kramer’s great nephew.  I ended loving the quilt so much that I decided to submit it.

I did and Quilts and More picked it up.  They needed it ASAP and Carla our good friend from Longarm ...

Where We are Published: American Patchwork and Quilting from Jo's Country Junction

Sometimes projects go in and out of here that I often forget what’s out or where it is.  That was the case of this quilt until someone told me it was hanging in American Patchwork and Quilting’s booth at the Houston Quilt Market.

First off…there is the magazine the quilt it in…December 2019 issue 161.

I had forgotten that it was in this issue until a blog reader contacted me and said, “Love your quilt in APQ magazine”.  Hmm, I thought.  Which one was that?

I went online and looked it up.  Yep.  Now I remembered ...
