String Challenge and Mystery Sewing from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

I’m hooking up with Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Quilt link up today.  Welcome if you’re new here and the link up brought you.  We are a busy blog with update twice a day, unless life gets in the way.  There’s always something going on here!!

Last week I finished up the quilt for the wedding and then the busyness of the week before Christmas set in.  On top of that…I caught a nasty cold!  I didn’t know how mystery sewing would go but it went fine….

I cut it out on Friday over naptime..and ...

Mystery and String Challenge from Jo's Country Junction

I’m hooking up with Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Quilt link up today.  Welcome if you’re new here and the link up brought you.

I had a busy week…My evenings were filled and not much sewing got done around here.  That’s okay.  Life and the people in my life take priority over quilting any day.  I did get clue #2 done and moved on to clue #3.

Friday when my childcare kids were sleeping over nap time I was able to cut clue #3 out.  I’m a flip corner girl so cutting was super easy.

I’m hooking up with Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Quilt link up today.  Welcome if you’re new here and the link up brought you.  Before the quilting report..a little life report…did you see yesterday’s post about our new little grand daughter being born?  I’ve been getting lots of messages and updates.  My son is the cutest with her.  It’s so fun to be a part of it all.  So far, everyone is doing really good.

Onto today’s post…I got clue #1 done Wednesday-ish last week.

WWon-1

I started clue #2.  I am happy ...

I’m hooking up with Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Quilt link up today.  Welcome if you’re new here and the link up brought you.  Before the quilting report..a little life report.

I had a really busy weekend.  It involved little sewing.  That’s okay though as I got lots done related to Christmas.  That’s always a good feeling.

Saturday night at 10pm I met our daughter Kelli after she was done with work and brought Ruby, our beagle dog to her.  Ruby is going through her testing for Cushing’s Disease today and Kelli is going to ...

Daylilies from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

You might remember that sometime in the last month or so that I wrote a blog post asking if any of you had ever made every quilt in a quilt book.  The idea has stuck with me and that’s exactly what I’m going to attempt.  I’m even giving myself a goal….that means I am serious.  If you missed that post it’s here.

Here’s my plan.  I am taking Bonnie Hunter’s String Fling book and am making EVERY quilt in the book.  Here’s where I was at the last tally.
There are 13 ...

What I’m Working On…. from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

When I was cleaning my sewing room I discovered something….  I somehow forgot to make a baby quilt that I was suppose to make.  I know that sound bad but it’s the truth.  In August I had wanted to sew it and now here it’s months later.   Originally I had planned on doing a baby quilt with fire truck fabric and then found a fabric I liked better.  I fussy cut the blocks and then…hmm..ummm..I honestly forgot about it.

Once I discovered that I had, I pulled what I needed and got serious about getting ...

What I’m Working On…. from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

I thought I would take a snap shot of my sewing room so you could see what I’m working on….

In the foreground at the bottom left is a quilt you can barely see.  It has a little burgundy in it.  That is something we’re putting together and will soon be submitting with the hope a magazine will pick it up.  There is a pink Bonnie Hunter Zuckerwatte quilt near the white Phaff machine.  That just got off the quilting frame and there’s another exactly like it on the ironing board that is going on next.  I ...

What I’m Working On…. from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

I have LOTS of sewing time last week.  LOTS and LOTS.  Hubby is in the field with harvest.  I’ve had sick sleepy kids at childcare giving me time to trim or de-paper string block over nap time.  So I’ve been SEWING and SEWING!

You might remember last week I told you that I was working on Charlotte’s Baskets from Bonnie Hunter’s String Fling book.  Would you believe that I have the blocks FINISHED!!  I am putting mine in a 5 x 6 setting so I only need 30 blocks so it isn’t such an amazing ...

What I’m Working On… from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

oh no…It happened again. I got hooked on a quilt and it’s taking over my life.  The pattern is Charolotte’s Baskets and can be found in Bonnie Hunter’s String Fling book.

You might remember last week I told you that I had cut my triangles the wrong size after experiencing a typo in the directions.  (Find post about typo in the pattern directions here)  Well I quickly went to work and cut new pieces.  From there  I played and made a test basket block to check to make sure there were no other typos that I ...

What I’m Working On… from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

I have lots of projects that are close to being done.  When I work on so many projects at once, that often I’ll go quite awhile with no finishes and then all of a sudden I’ll have several projects done at once.  That was the case on Friday night…the projects came together and I had lots of quilt top finishes.

Hubby is gone nights now and often not home until 9pm or later so I have lots of free time to do whatever….and my “whatever” is typically sewing.  Pumpkin Patch became a top.  I’m really ...

What I’m Working On….. from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

Last week I told you that I had a sick day…well the next day wasn’t a lot better.  I managed to get a few things done around the house but then sent myself back to “rest” in the sewing room.  ”Rest” for me means doing nothing that I can’t do slowly…nothing that I don’t want to be doing.  I simply cannot lay on the couch and do nothing.  Sometimes I truly wish I could….but this day not so much as I accomplished this!!!  The center of the quilt top is together.  I’m so ...

What I’m Working On…. from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

I ended up sick with a cold.  I was really tempted to lay on the couch and complete rest.  I thought about finding a Netflix show and simply laying down and binge watching ALL DAY LONG…but I decided that I didn’t want to be that sick.  I felt absolutely miserable but then convinced myself that the next day I’d feel worse mentally if I didn’t do something so I decided to hang out in the sewing room.  I was going to allow myself to work on anything I wanted -no deadline projects- If I wasn’t ...

What I’m Working On…. from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

I’ve been busy….. I spent a lot of my time working on that wedding quilt and that has kept me away from my spider web quilt.  I have another deadline quilt to finish so this still can’t go on the front burner but I’m bound and determined not to put it completely away.  I de-papered the last of the triangles.  There were 13 in the pile.

wwon-50

That puts me over the edge.  I need 256 and I have 265.  YAHOO!!!

Next up will be some block assembly.  I can’t wait.  I’ll finally see what all ...

What I’m Working On… from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

I had such a busy-busy week last week.  We had the garage sale, the girls were all here for the weekend, Carver turned one.  I didn’t think I would accomplish much as all…but I did manage to get a few more string blocks done for my spider web quilt.  Honestly it’s been stolen moments here and there as that was the only time I had.

Then Friday night after the garage sale closed we were visiting over a glass of wine and before I knew it, Kelli was trimming the stack of string blocks I had done ...
